The branch staff and service received in the Lewes Branch is outstanding as well as the process for a HELOC. However, my review is based on dealing with the Customer Service Call Center. I was attempting to transfer money from Citizens to my account at another bank. I verified the other account information, but then Citizens placed that account on "Hold", which required a call to release the hold. Then I attempted another transfer, which was "Cancelled" by Citizens, requiring another call. This time the representative told me there was nothing cancelled even though I could see it on my screen that it was cancelled and also received an email. I then entered it a third time and all was good until the day of the transfer, when they sent me an email saying the transfer was "Suspended", requiring yet another call. In total I spent over 4 hours on hold with their customer service department. Every time it is "due to high call volume". When all said and done it took me almost two full weeks to finally transfer this money to my other bank. They finally accepted the transfer on the 31st day of the month, and then hit me with a monthly service fee because of the balance on the 31st, even though the 1st 30 days of the month was well above any minimum balance requirements and the account would have been closed by then had they not held or cancelled my transfer request multiple times. I write this review as I now sit on hold once again to close my checking and savings and go to a bank without an eternity hold every time you need phone service. I'm now at almost 5 hours on the phone with this bank in the last 10 days.

Horrible! Started doing the same practice they had a class action suit before. All debits take place first then credits. If you write a check but deposit a check to cover it at the same time, they will credit the deposit second, bounce and return the check you wrote. Their policy states they "won't refuse payments of checks because we give you time to deposit the funds to cover the check" but in reality, all of this takes place after 10pm. The direct deposit that went in mere hours later even - all credits / debits took place between 10pm and 6am - didn't matter as check still gets returned. They violate their own policy of "giving you time to cover the check". Lawsuit determined bad faith practices in order to maximize bank fees. Looking for new bank for business account. Customer service is awful too. Agents are rude and have no desire to even fully listen to customer's concerns. Get passed from one agent to another agent after waiting 45 min for a live person in the first place; then disconnected during the transfer or while on hold. I waited 58 minutes one evening to report fraud on my account. Needed a new card issued. No texting available. Not something you can do through website. Yet no option offered by computer to talk to live person.. Website states "chat coming soon" but when you call it says do mobile banking, use automated on phone or chat with us via text. Bank is more frustrating then it is worth especially given the number of options available. Clearly do not NOT care about their customers!!!

This bank offered me a promotional deal with a cash offer. It comes time to collect and they won't pay. The person who assisted myself starting an account interpreted their own fine print incorrectly as well as customer support on the phone. The words qualifying deposit was even stated. If this bank cannot even understand their own fine print, how are they going to help their clientele. Here I was trying to have an account with a local bank separate from my main account. And, they are terrible. Wasted my time with an offer they won't stand behind. Avoid this bank. I'll be closing my account here.

I guess COVID is over for the male workers of this citizens bank location since they are not bothered to wear their masks when there are customers in the establishment... very inconsiderate.
