Brewery Credit Union Reviews

Kim Lewis4Keith, Kristin and Deb are great. There has been alot of employee changes. I prefer to get serviced by the more seasoned employees at BCU when possible. There needs to be extensive customer service training to new employees. We all have bad days but in your arena, the tone and attitude of some of the employees need to be adjusted when dealing with consumers. Especially when customers call BCU. Telephone etiquette is key as well as providing good customer service. Other than that, I have had no major issues. I stay on top of checking my account weekly if not daily for accuracy.
Response from the ownerThank you for the kind words Ms. Lewis! We are constantly providing training for the staff and will continue to do so!!! Based on your review, we will also look into some telephone training! Thank you again and have a great holiday!

Kiara Gibbs2This credit union is a little too outdated for me. Not too many problems but one of the biggest is I received a call out of the blue from a rep advising me that she accidentally canceled my card and can’t reopen it. I had to wait several days to receive another one.
Response from the ownerKiara, again we are so sorry for the error. We do offer temporary cards that will work the day after they are created. When we gave you a call, you stated it was no problem to wait and so we went ahead and put a rush on your card shipping. We are so sorry for the inconvenience and are working on procedures to avoid it from happening again. We hate to let anyone down and will do better in the future.

Latosha Tate1Horrible, unprofessional, needs to spend money on training instead of appearance. No need for renovations if the service sucks!
Response from the ownerMs. Tate, We are sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations today. We would love to talk more about it! Can you give us a call at 414-273-3170 ext 141 on Monday? (I am out of the office today but would like to handle this directly. Thank you, Kristin

Ace Hardchester2I've been with the credit union for five years and have had mixed experiences with them. I was tired of my card being cancelled without warning and the variety of unexpected fees that'd creep up (they've personally taken around $500, and their habit of changing my card without warning worked up a good $1000 in late fees from other institutions), so I finally got around to closing the account. Except they didn't actually close the account, so now I am getting charged for being overdrawn, and the hours and locations are so inconvenient that I'm sure they'll get another $100 by the time I can get to them. Very nice staff, but my experiences have been, at best, mildly annoying.

Angela Mo4Have had a biz acct for a few yrs now. Mostly deal with Kristin when it comes to our checking needs. She has been amazing. Easily accessible, never seems irritated at our hiccups and has always addressed our needs. I also have had 4 loans. 2 paid off and 2 open. The loan staff is very open, honest and do not feel as it seemed in other places as if you are bothering them with questions. I had lots. The down side if there is one, is they lack business loans, and the remote deposits require a completely different log in which is highly inconvenient. The website is a bit clunky but it works for us.

Kaylee Brayden5I have been a member of Brewery Credit Union for 10 years now. I absolutely love the credit union! They recently gave me my first mortgage loan (I close next week)! My favorite thing about the credit union is the staff. When I walk in, they all know me! I feel like they are caring and genuinely want to know about me and my life. I wouldn't bank anywhere else!

Kristina M Beck5This has been my go to place ever since I was referred by a friend in 2011. Keith at Brewery is always helpful and the staff has been accommodating. Since I shop at the Outpost a lot it's also convenient for me that they have a branch there. I have all my accounts with Brewery now and I have no hesitation referring anyone to Keith or the credit union.

Thomas Haas5Alright so here's solutions for those who left horrible reviews. They're not intended to be rude per se, but they are intended to take the blame off of Brewery, because this credit union hasn't been anything but wonderful! No, I don't work for them, its just that with all they have done for me, I owe them this kind of review! Lynette, its called internet. Go online, login with your credentials, and it will show you your balance each and every time, without fail. Also, inconvenient is relative. They may be inconvenient for you, but other people, like myself, do not find the locations inconvenient. There's one smack in the center of the city (Northeast), and one on the south side of the city in Bay View (Southeast), a co-op center on 60th and Layton (Southwest side of the city) and one around 70th and Brown Deer Rd (Northwest side of the city), not to mention the other credit unions that are part of the co-op that I don't even know about. So I fail to see the inconvenience. There is literally a location to give you access of some or all sorts in each corner of the city? How are the locations inconvenient? Dan, don't go to MLK then if you know that you won't have success there. There's another location and 2 co-op centers. Go there...I've personally never had an issue at MLK or Bay View, but that's just me. Ace, I feel bad for you...if that happened, your pain is legitimate. Tia, just because people who are worse off than yourself bank there does not make this credit union, as you so professionally put it (sarcasm, obviously), "ghetto". Notice the irony? Google User, run your debit as credit and you won't have that issue. You don't need cash to buy groceries, that's why they provide you a Visa. Run it as credit instead of debit and you'll be fine. If you don't know how to do that, ask the cashier...in time, you'll know how to do it on your own, without help. Now, time for MY review. I absolutely LOVE Brewery. I have been with them for almost 3 years, started out with a checking account, at which, they worked with me, despite being in Chex Systems. 3 months later, they refinanced a high interest loan for me from Franklin Finance and saved me a good 12% or so, which translated to about $50 less per month, which gave me the flexibility to have that $50 extra go toward my actual loan instead of interest, if I chose. In addition, in this new payment, a protection plan was included that makes my payments for me in the event of involuntary unemployment, disability, or death. No other place offered me that kind of protection and/or peace of mind in such horrific events, as a means to make such horrific events a little less horrible. When I got laid off, that protection helped me immensely as I was getting back on my feet. I since paid that loan off in 3/2017. Two months later, they helped me with a new car loan when other lenders probably wouldn't have even considered helping me. That same protection is on this new loan. I'm so thankful to this credit union for how they have helped me along every step of the way! Never shop anywhere else without first checking to see if Brewery offers what you need. Also, I want to offer a special shout-out to Fatima; she is the absolute best! I never felt this valued anywhere else...not Wells Fargo, not US Bank, and not even Chase. Thank you Brewery! Thomas -
