  After talking with several builders to build our home we landed with Barnett Custom Homes in Longview, Texas. We built outside of Longview. They were the only one that actually called us back and did not care that we were not building a 500k plus home. To our surprise they were very competitive on their cost to build (we had 4 estimates) and they build a great home at a fair price. We had no clue what we were doing, but they took care of everything. The process and time to build was about 4 1\2 months from start to our keys. Their team was great communicating and always had access to Tim. We would definitely recommend and use Barnett Custom Homes again. They even helped us get a great rate on our mortgage!

  I (Alan Neal) reached out to Barnett Homes several months back but he didn't reply until I complained to his office that he isn't returning my calls. He called and we met at our property and discussed our home plans. The owner was fully on board. He went bac to his office, drew up the contract and wanted it signed immediately. I let him know that I wanted my attorney to review and then the communication stopped abruptly. I kept trying to reach him and he was somewhat brushing me off after I sent an updated plan with a few minor changes added. We then had to get a soil test and an engineered slab, which apparently really ticked him off, because that's when he would never give me an updated price or update on anything for that matter. I have called and text his cell numerous times and even his office to give him the opportunity, but none-the-less, I have never heard back. I even left a VM that if he didn't feel comfortable working with us to just let me know and we would go elsewhere, but he was never big enough to call back. I am sure that Tim builds a very nice home if you build it his way with his wants and needs in my opinion, it is his way or he will not return a call. We gave Tim a "budget" on where we "wanted to be" and he assumed that we would not go over that price range, which shows his inability to listen and understand the customer. This is not a company that I want to spend a few hundred thousand dollars on and not have communication on which direction things are going. Although I am sure his work is decent, his lack of communication needs some help and therefore, we have now signed with another builder. Based on my experience and nothing more, have your attorney review any builders contract. That's when our communication with Barnett Homes stopped in its tracks.

  Frivolous Review. Unfortunately Mr. & Mrs. Neal's Expectations of Costs to Build a New Home in their area is unreasonable. Barnett Custom Homes did meet with The Neals, presented a bid and building contract (Standard Contract Form of Texas Association of Home Builders Promulgated Contract) to their original plans. Upon presenting contract, They began getting additional quotes from other builders which is normal and acceptable. We have our contracts reviewed by our attorneys and expect our customers to do the same. This is good business for all parties. About a month later, they then contacted us to resubmit another bid. This was done. At that time, we explained we had become very busy with many other new builds and would be first of 2020 before we could even begin another project. The Neals submitted multiple additional changes to their plan, adding square footage and foundation requirements again raising their costs above their stated budget. Unfortunately our company will not be able to build their home at their requested budget. We try to help everyone that comes to us but that is not always the case. Barnett Custom Homes has elected not to build their home and hope that they will be able to find a great builder than can meet their budget expectations. They stated multiple times they really wanted us to build their home due to our knowledge and quality, but due to their plan, requirements and specifications we will not be able to help them. Usually reviews are based off building performance and satisfaction of the product, not being able to meet financial requests. We wish them well. Barnett Custom Homes.

  We had a tree fall on our house in March. Tim and his team promised to make it better than new and they fulfilled that promise. It's now September and the house has never looked better.They took care of all the details from dealing with the insurance to painting the rooms. Great Christian business.

  Dear Tim, in response to your comment to Angela Neal.... you really should tell the truth rather than trying to escape it. First and foremost, the soil had a 4 inch vertical rise each year that you didn’t take the time to learn or acknowledge. Every other builder suggested a soil test except you and turns out, they were right. We had the solid test and an engineered slab which would have benefited you as a builder. Also, I should add that your comment about our financial inabilities are also “blowing smoke”! In fact, We are spending over $65,000 more than your low bid. I feel better spending it knowing that the slab is done properly and we won’t have to worry about issues in the future. This is proof that it’s not always beat to go with the low bidder. I tried calling you numerous times but you weren’t even big enough to pick up or return a call. We tried to work with you to get the bid on the engineered slab to accommodate the soil rise but again, you never called back. The truth hurts when spoken aloud. I truly wish you the best. The truth will set you free! ;)

  Duplicate Review (Inappropriate use of Google Review) This person never became a customer of Barnett Customer Homes. A prospective bid was submitted but not accepted by this person. Barnett Custom Homes has never received any negative reviews from any of our customers we have built homes for. We will continue to serve our customers well and understand that there will be projects that are not beneficial for both parties. This would be one of those instances. This person is frustrated that we would not be able to complete his home at his unreasonable requested budget.
