      My account has been disabled for weeks, I can't pay any of my bills, I'm told the branch can't do anything and that I need to speak to customer service, I call the line and wait on hold for an hour and fifteen minutes just to be hung up (multiple times) My life is on lock-down and I'm at risk of payment default due to their practices. I will be the one incurring the late fees and credit hits, due to a circumstance entirely out of my control.

      I want to first apologize to the staff at Bank of The West on 73rd Street in Clive for my outburst in the drive-thru, and more than once. I will not be using the drive-thru moving forward, which will benefit both you and me. I am upset about what appears to be a random application of bank policy at the drive-thru, and that is the reason for my 1 star Google rating. Each situation could have been handled in a better way - by me and by the tellers. It isn't easy to take care of a lot of people sitting in their cars who are often impatient. Generally speaking, the quality of customer service at this branch has declined over the years as there has been a revolving door of tellers and managers. While that is sad to see, it is also part of the struggle that companies have in recruiting - and training - great people who are fully committed to focusing on the people, not the process. Ultimately, this will be resolved as so many of these positions will be eliminated. In the meantime, I hope that those of you who are left will remember this simple idea. Tell people what you can and will do, not what you can't and won't do. Stay in your R, your Role, and let the customer be fully in their I, their Individuality. Customers - like me - won't always be reasonable. Do a great job with the unreasonable ones as well as the reasonable ones.

      I wish there were a way to target Bank of the West customer service specifically, but there isn't. Long story short, I've been a loyal BOTW customer for SEVEN years. For the past 3-4 months, I have been finding weird service charges and each time i call to ask about them, I get the same response "I'm sorry for the inconvenience, unfortunately there's nothing we can do" I'm sorry, but kindly shut up. Yes, you can do something! How about NOT charging your customers for having 1 auto payment coming out of their savings acct?? Ridiculous. Needless to say, after 7 years, we are switching banks. It sucks when you have to switch all your automatic payments to a different account, but it's worth it if you aren't charged unknown fees (might I add, I specifically told the rep I was never told I would be charged for making 1 auto payment from my savings acct, and his response was they dont have time to tell us all the rules and regulations of our accounts. He was a rude little snot!) Good riddance!

      Horrible customer service. Went in around 2:00 today (July 12th) to inquire about my balance and walked up to the counter. The teller looked at me and didn't greet me. She literally just stared at me. I said hi, and she asked what I wanted. I asked if I could get a transaction history on my account. She asked for a debit card and I gave it to her and told her it hadn't been activated. I asked her if it would still work if it wasn't activated and she straight up ignored my question. Then I asked her again and she didn't say anything and just shrugged with an annoyed look on her face. Service like this makes me not want to trust my money with your bank!

      After numerous calls to Bank of the West to find out how much I owed for my final car payment, I gave up and went into the the location on 73rd Street in Clive, IA. I explained that no one in the call center could give me my payoff amount. The clerk who also could not help me, took me to the office of Mike Smith, bank manager. I told Mr. Smith that I only wanted to write one check since I only had one check left. He said, "No problem! Go ahead and write out a check for $x." As I was handing the check to him, he informed me that he may have to ask me for another check for "additional fees" as he was going to get his information from the online banking people. So in other words, he didn't listen at all to his customer, nor did he care what she said. He then promised to call me with the information later that evening or during the next day at the latest. Needless to say, I never received a phone call from Mr. Smith- or anyone for that matter. Also, I never received any title to my car. It's been about a month now. I'm still in the dark about what's happening. Neither Mr. Smith or online banking will give me any information and they act like I am a tremendous bother. I say "thumbs down" to doing business with Bank of the West.

      I have been a customer of this bank for years. I have always gotten excellent and friendly service here. Employees have gone out of their way to help me when I was having financial problems, and were able to think of ways to get me through a difficult time. I would recommend this bank to anyone.

      This bank is a group of crooks from another country, charging ludicrous amounts of money in fees, service charges etc. They are robbing the very people who can't afford to lose money.

      Update. They just updated the inside of the branch with new carpets and furniture. They also just added the new signs to the bank and the street signs.Great service, Very good prices for business banking.
