Bank of the West Reviews

TFerrer1I would give a negative number The most inept, disjointed banking organization I've ever experienced. Departments do not have direct communication with each other. Online banking is seperate from checking accounts which are seperate from mortgage accounts. It's crazy. They also have no mechanism to collect support case details so you have to reexplain the entire story only to be run around with no resolution. I've wasted over 3 hrs on hold with a runaround each time. Seriously, run, don't walk away from any dealings with this organization.

Lynda Anne Art1Probably the worst bank I've dealt with yet. They authorized a transaction I specifically cancelled - and I NEVER choose over draft protection. It is all around a bad idea and a waste of money to pay over draft fees when the bank should just decline the charge - as I established when I opened the account. But they did what ever they wanted. Worst customer service. They paid an erroneous charge - emptied out my account - and then charged me overdraft fees. I went out of my way to call three times to fix the problem every time I was on hold over half an hour never getting through. Then they closed the account. So they stole about four hundred dollars from me and then closed my account - and there is NOBODY answering their phones. For a charge I SPECIFICALLY CANCELLED and I have NEVER had overdraft anyway so how did this happen? Where did the money go? Not to that transaction clearly it was cancelled. So??? Where is my $400? Where is my account? We don't know because BANK OF TH WEST DOES NOT ANSWER THEIR PHONES. Why would they when they are stealing from their customers? JUST RUN AWAY. THEY ARE THE WORST.

Robin Prior5I have been a happily satisfied Bank of the West customer for many years, with both a personal account and a business account, in the North Beach Branch. When I moved to the Richmond District, I was a little hesitant to start using the Clement St. Branch because I had such a great rapport with the staff in the Columbus Ave Branch and I was afraid to lose that personal touch. I didn't need to worry - I began using the Clement St Branch and discovered to my great delight that the superb personal service was also present there, and here, I am, 11 years later, and I'm still a happy camper! I'm not some big businessman, but the Managers AND the tellers all remember me by my first name and are familiar with my banking habits and needs, and they always have my back! The extra little touches, like graciously making a copy of my deposit for me on those rare occasions when I haven't had time to make it myself, or helping me sort out complicated issues. From the Branch Manager to the long standing and hard-working Tellers this Branch gives stellar service and are a shining example of how a Branch should serve its customers. I highly recommend them - if you're dissatisfied with your bank's service culture - go see how Bank of the West's Clement Street branch and if you're wondering where to start your first account - you now know where to go.
