Bank of the West Reviews

Erica Rocha1If I could give a ZERO stars, I would !! The worse customer service I have ever experienced in a Bank of the West Branch!! I went in for a cashier's check. Literally took 30min, I understand the teller was in training but the trainer gave no communication as to the steps. Just standing around in awkward silence. Then the asst. manager Berenice reviewed the account to see where the funds were coming from, simply could have asked me where the wire came from. Ignored me as I tired to explain and walked away. How she is a manager with no people skills is beyond me!. I felt so discriminated!! Plus, they didn't give me an envelope for my cashier's check. HOW GHETTO!! And so UNPROFESSIONAL! Sure let me just walk out of the bank with a check of thousands in hand. I should've have gone to my home branch, but I was in the area and needed it asap. If you can avoid going, I would!

Lisa Bell Sandoval1Horrible!!! worst customer service I have ever received in my life..withdrawing funds from my bank of the west account felt like more like an interrogation. She asked me where a deposit in my account came from(it was via square a lot of merchants use it) She asked me why was I was banking with bank of the west...and asked me why had I gone to the Hanford branch to withdraw funds then to the Visalia branch to withdraw..(it just so happened to be i was in Hanford and needed to some of my cash, not that it was her business)None of these questions needed to be asked, she is supposed to be providing a service not demeaning

Alejandro Cervantes1I made several deposits last month and I understand they have the right to ask you where that money came from, but this guy Josh was so rude about it. He almost made me feel like I was a thief. He needs to be more nice when asking this questions. Yer, on the other hand, is so nice and sweet, but still I’m moving my money to another bank because I don’t want to have another bad experience with this guy Josh.

Jessica Finn1I need to find a new bank. A few weeks ago I deposited $400 in the ATM because they were not open and I got a receipt that there was an error and the cash wasn’t deposited into my account nor returned back and to call the 800 number. The 800 number then tells me they have to file a claim and it would be at least 2 weeks before I would hear anything. I did get my money back after the 2 weeks but it was ridiculous to have to wait that long for their issue. I went back on Monday 2/22 and the ATMs were not taking any deposits. I went back on 2/23 and again the ATMs were still not taking deposits. Now I have to drive to another town to deposit money into my account. Again, ridiculous.

iHate Frizzle1this bank wont accept cash deposits for 3 straight days and 1 of the 2 atms isnt working almost all the time. If you are able to do everything yourself using the app it makes it much easier. The one star is for the app it works fine

Sharon Halk2Disappointing experience with Bank of the West. Walked in to cash a cashiers check drawn on their bank and got the teller (younger pretty blond) that had actually remembered she had issued the check earlier the same day. She was told (by an older dark haired woman) that they cannot cash it the same day it is issued because it needs to process overnight. Very frustrating since a cashier’s check is supposed to be equivalent to cash. Apparently it’s not. The teller was trying to be helpful and was going to override it but the only ID I had with me was my passport which I hadn’t realized had expired. Overall, a unpleasant experience that left me wondering why anyone would want to bank there. The blond teller was pleasant but the dark haired lady had a snooty attitude and was not going to try to be helpful. Not impressed. How can someone that works at a bank in a town that smells of cow dung look down their nose and act so above another? Get off your high horse because situations change and your attitude will be remembered and may someday bite you on your backside.

Dave Martino1This used to be an excellent bank. They have continually made it more difficult to stay with them and I have removed all funds and closed all accounts. Their fees are ridiculously high. In particular. You should check out their fee for early withdrawal on CDs over 12 months. When my CD matured I told them that their ever increasing fees and charges were a problem but that this early withdrawal fee they would have charged me was so far out of whack that I could no longer stay with them. The employee responded that it is the same at all banks. IT IS NOT THE SAME AT ALL BANKS. THIS PENALTY WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE THAN ALL THE INTEREST I EARNED ON THE ACCOUNT IN 14 MONTHS. Before you invest, make sure you read the fine print. You won't invest at this bank.

David Barman5I have nothing but great things to say. No other banks compare to Bank of the West. I was having issues every time I tried to do anything at Bank of the Sierra. I met Valerie and Mindy, made the transfer and never looked back! They go way out of their way to make my time at the bank as painless as possible! Give them a try, you won’t regret it!

Sarah Coar1Since I have opened an account with Bank of the West in Visalia, CA, it seems like every time I come into the bank, I am met with very uppity individuals who act like they don't want to help me. They ask me to wait, then take an unnecessary amount of time before assisting me and I come in when the bank is not busy. When their attitude changes, I will change my rating, until then, they should really work on their customer service skills!
