Arlington Community Federal Credit Union Reviews

patrick withrow1This is cross post as the actual incident happened at the Columbia Pike location. I want all customers to be on notice that this bank steals customer money. We put $2250 into their ATM and the machine only counted $1750. We tried to communicate with the bank to give us our missing $500 but they essentially called us liars and refused to help us. Regarding their reply, no one has reached out yet with any willingness to solve this issue. After months of talking around in circles the bank has reiterated that they will steal your money and will find all manner of excuse to avoid taking any accountability.

Quintanya Moat1Every 6 months I have to change my debit card information with this bank. It’s ridiculous. I don’t have this issue with my only banks, this is bank. I have had 3 different cards in the last year and a half. They need to put in better software or firewalls. This seriously needs to stop happening.
Response from the ownerHi Quintanya, thank you for letting us know about your experience. We take our members' security and privacy very seriously and will contact you to determine how we can support you and resolve this issue.

Mark Koszela1The reviews speak for themselves. Made up procedures which no other banks use, working with 1980’s technology, etc etc. Bank wanted me to drive 8 hours to sign my tile over as an out of state vehicle seller and when asked for any other options, I was disrespectfully laughed at over the phone. Very unprofessional, and disrespectful.
Response from the ownerHi Mark, I am sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you letting us know. We value your membership and want to make it right. Our member service team will be in touch to discuss your experience. Thank you!

Tyrone White2Their rates are outstanding and the staff is very sweet. However I found them to be notoriously slow and inefficient in getting my loan closed. You definitely have to stay on top of them. My closing was delayed because in the middle of the process my loan rep went on a 10 day vacation “ghosting” me in the process with no responses to my calls or emails during that time. I didn’t find out she was on vacation until she got back and then there was a mad dash to get everything done and multiple annoyances to include fax issues. Not exactly how I work but in the end they got everything done and I’m satisfied with the rate and terms of the loan.

Alexandria Shea5A bit slow, however I understand some employees are still working from home. It felt we (myself and partner) had to reach out to them in order to have our loan processed in a timely fashion. Afterward, we sat outside the location for an hour to receive the check. The branch manager checked on us regularly and brought us waters. All in all, FIVE STARS - because their rates are stupid good and I'd have waited longer to lock that APR down.

Lucretia2Nice people, completely incompetent and operating with 1980 technology. I can't even make loan payments online. The only way to do that is to transfer money from one of their accounts to the loan. Only I don't use my accounts there because they are so behind the times. I did like that they offer the old school "skip a payment" in December which is really helpful around Christmas and which I thought I did. I filled out the contract & signed it online but apparently I still needed to bring the form in to a branch. I didn't realize that, so they started calling me about a late payment for December. I ask you, what the hell was the point of signing the document online??? They should have just said "in order to skip a payment, come into any branch and fill out the form" or whatever. I've called three times about this stupid late payment that I thought was waved and sat on hold for 11 min before I hung up, was supposed to get a call back another time (never happened) and the third time I gave up and just paid the stupid payment. There is no point to this credit union unless you physically like to go stand in lines at a bank to do EVERYTHING. Otherwise they're great.

Joe Lopsang1Stay far far away. They don't have good online tools. They expect that you send them checks every month to pay for your mortgage. I had a bad sense here along the way. But went through with my heloc. One of the bigger mistakes in my financial life. Bank cio- Get better online tools now or just close shop. Wanted to provide update. Online tools are better, but still way behind the times. Just so defunct, and podunk, it blows me away they can operate like this. Expect this bank to merge with a larger credit union with decent online tools. I assume if you like banking in circa 1985 you would like this place, else, stay away. Ps. Love ally bank. Go there if you can. Very positive experience.

Chris Carpenter1My girlfriend and I just moved to the area and opened up checking accounts here. I've been a huge fan of credit unions and have usually had better experiences. But we have faced nothing but obstacles with this credit union. For some reason although we've signed and filled out everything, we've had to do things all over again because they didn't save them or link them to our accounts. And that has lead to a whole series of problems with mobile checking and simply writing checks. Even our accounts had plenty of money, our checks have bounced because their information wasn't linked correctly. And they advertise the ability to deposit checks with the mobile app but what they don't tell you is that you're not allowed access to that privilege until you've been with them for 6 months. And when I went in to ask about it no one could give me a straight answer whether it was 90 days, 6 months or immediate access. Also their Website works for us about 50% of the time. The site is either down and it doesn't always recognize our passwords, even when we do it exactly as we wrote down. Other than the staff being friendly, it has been a terrible experience with them.

Ashley Clarke10 stars if I could. This branch used to be awesome. Not sure whats been going on here lately but their service is beyond TERRIBLE. Rude representatives answer the phone and hang up before you are finished. Many incompetent workers here who are unhappy. Refusals to give me a receipt of a loan that was paid off (which is highly illegal by the way). Impossible to reach a branch manager. Will be closing my account soon. Beware if you want to bank here.
