My family has been with amplify since dirt. We go back to the IBM days. Three generations. My first savings account was here. My first debit card. My first checkbook. I’ve always taken pride in all this. But in the last two years this institution has gone down hill fast. I don’t know why I’m still banking here. The branches are randomly closed, the app is under maintenance all the time, and when my wife scheduled a meeting to open her business account here it led to a months long process that never got resolved. She has postmarked checks and payments from customers from 7-8 months ago because amplify clearly doesn’t prioritize our business and she hasn’t been able to open an account. A couple days ago my wife went to another local bank with all the same credentials and opened a business account the same week as her first visit. The proof is in the pudding. We will be leaving as soon as a branch nearby is actually open when I can get free, and I can go in and close our accounts.

Hi Luke! We just spoke with our retail team, and it sounds like you were able to connect with one of our branch managers about your experience. Please know you can always contact us at [email protected] if you have additional questions or need to be connected with someone else at Amplify.

They closed the lobby when covid first started. It's been 2 and a half years and they are still closed lol. I've never seen any other business do this, this is insane.

      Response from the owner

We appreciate the feedback, FP. When we temporarily closed our Cedar Park and La Frontera locations in January, we tried to be transparent about the staffing issues that affected our branches (goampli.fyi/closings). And while we hoped to have these branches open by now, our team is working very hard to make sure we have the best people and the best training in place.

The service at Amplify has gotten worse over the last year to a point that I'm on the verge of moving all my money to another bank. Hold times are longer, fewer branches to go to, and just overall, the quality of people you're hiring has gone down.

      Response from the owner

Hi Mark! We truly appreciate the feedback. As we’ve moved more towards digital-first services for our members – especially during the pandemic – we want to be careful to not negatively impact the experience for members who prefer in-person banking. If you’d be open to speaking to a branch manager about your experience, please drop us a line at [email protected]. Thank you!

I would do no stars if I could. It is completely ridiculous how this branch is always closed. I have had my account with amplify for 10 years but I am considering closing it. I shouldn't have to drive 20 minutes out of town just to deposit money into my account when this branch is across the street from my job.

      Response from the owner

“We’re so sorry for the inconvenience, Evelyn! While our goal is always to give members ample notice of changes to branch hours, sometimes our safety protocols require us to move quickly. Should you ever need to make a deposit outside of our posted business hours, we hope you’ll consider using our mobile check deposit and night drop services. https://goampli.fyi/night-drop”

I went into this branch on two separate occasions. Both on my lunch to try and deposit a check. This location is difficult to get to in the first place because it is off a toll access road. The first day I went up to the counter and was told that the representative couldn't help me because they we already assisting another customer but there was no one else there. The other teller was involved in a sale that would obviously take a while. The next time I tried the single teller (during lunchtime) was also obviously going to be a while. There were four other employees who did not offer to help me and one that told me I should deposit it on the app. If I wanted to do that i would have. I like to deposit a check and get a receipt, call me old fashioned. Fortunately the car note I have with Amplify is paid of next month. Very much looking forward to moving to a bank that is growing and not one that is constantly closing the already few branches that it has. To sum up, there are a lot better places even if you don't want to go with a "big" bank.

      Response from the owner

Hope that you never get fraudulent charges on your account with them! You have to talk with at least 4 people to file a claim, then you have to wait 10-14 business days to get YOUR money back. Their whole fraud dept is a joke. It is a whole different company you have to talk to, then you have to call your local branch to tel someone there (who couldnt care less) then you have to talk to the "dispute team" who basically tells you the same thing the first person did. Worst process ever for people who have just had their hard earned money taken from them.

      Response from the owner

We wish your experience with our fraud team had gone smoother, Kassondra. We know how stressful it is to deal with identity theft. We've asked our team to follow up, but we'd also encourage you to reach out to Letty Tienda, our AVP of Retail Banking, directly at (512) 836-5901 or via email at [email protected].

Always very friendly and helpful. Once I had a store charge my card three times for the same transaction and they did not hesitate to refund me. They don't charge to bank with them or to process anything unlike other banks either! You can also take out the exact amount you need from the ATM with I have found to be a plus .

I went in to dispute a charge on my account, and after a few minutes of the employee digging through transactions, I found out it was actually just a late post. The employee that helped me, Shaun, was extremely friendly and courteous when helping me through the steps. He even was polite when I realized it was my mistake, and informed me sometimes these things happen. Anyway this is a wonderful location, and I always feel so welcome when I walk into the office.

My daughter has an account here. When she opened it she definitely opted out of the overdraft protection but still amplify choses to engage in unathecal practices and charge overdraft fees. Now I'll be taking her to bank somewhere else to a bank that has integrity and honesty. We now know that amplify doesn't have any. Do yourself a favor and bank elsewhere.

      Response from the owner

Hi David - Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are unable to locate your account, please contact AVP of Retail Banking, Danny L. at 512.834.6544 at your earliest convenience to discuss your concerns further.

I've been with Central Texas AMPLIFY CU when it was a FCU. In mid-May, 1993, my family relocated from Essex Junction, Vermont, while with IBM. I stay with AMPLIFY CU because they continue to serve me well in ALL areas of banking!

      Response from the owner

Thanks, Suzanne for your kind words! We also appreciate you as a member and look forward to continue serving you and your family for many years to come.
