Amplify Credit Union Reviews

Colby M1Amplify absolutely sucks. It is no different than Chase, Bank of America or Wells Fargo. They absolutely despise their customers as a whole. We have been members since the early 90s when it was IBM. After the change, it went downhill, fast and much like Chase and the others, they seem to celebrate their shortcomings. We maintain one account for one specific reason that we cannot avoid. Calling to talk to someone at this credit union is like trying to get hold of the President of the United States. 40 minute wait times, or more. Add to it all, they “temporarily” closed the two branches nearest us. We have to drive 22 miles to do any business with them. Just deplorable experiences, every time.

James Lancelot1My how Amplify has fallen. A decade ago, it was by far the best credit union around and I would have given 5 stars. Customer service has taken a nosedive, and policies that are no longer in the best interest of the members. Their recurring transaction/bill pay system is faulty, and if the system is responsible for a late payment, this "credit union" ensures that YOU are stuck with the hit to your credit score...one star is being too nice.

Evan Adams1Absolute worst bank ATM ever! DO NOT USE THE ATM! This morning I went to pull $200 in cash and literally received $200 in all $5 dollar filthy bills. How is this even possible?! On top of it, I paid their ATM fee. We now have to pay our baby sitter $200 in $5 bills, thanks a lot Amplify. This was the Pond Springs location Btw so beware!

Catherine Janson5All of the folks I dealt with in obtaining my loan were terrific. And they found a notary in Denton to close to loan. This was all done during the height of the pandemic. I was very pleased.
Response from the ownerThank you, Catherine! The pandemic caused a lot of companies to rewrite the book - we're proud of our team for finding new ways to provide excellent service to our members.

Alex C1If i could give it 0 stars i would. Working with this branch in particular was the most unprofessional encounter with a bank i have ever had in my entire life. Just to open a joint checking and savings account was the biggest hassle because there was no communication from the branch to us and when we reach out to the branch we are treating extremely rude and unprofessionally and no clear information is given. We are livid at how we have been treated by this branch and hope this branch does not reflect Amplify as a credit union, if so we will be closing our account immediately. I recommend avoiding this specific branch at all costs.
Response from the ownerHi Alex! We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your feedback. In talking to our Pond Springs staff, it sounds like they were able to reach you over the weekend and resolve this issue. That said, please feel free to email us at [email protected] if you have any additional questions or concerns!

Tyler Mclemore2I had a fraudulent charge on my account. They had to cancel my card but now I can’t go into any offices due to covid to get a new one. Covid protocols have destroyed this business. I’ve been a happy customer for 6 years, this past month has been hell getting anyone to call you back is impossible and customer support takes 3 hours to connect. Amplify you need to do better. I need access to my funds... Note: the tellers are very personable and well informed. This complaint is only towards the covid process. The tellers and individuals deserve 5 stars.
Response from the ownerThanks for sharing your feedback, Tyler. We're going to send your review to our branch management team and have them schedule a time to call you. In addition to resolving the issue with your card, they may be able to communicate some opportunities to improve your experience through online or remote banking. We'll be in touch!

Brandon Guinn1Stay away from this group. I had a total loss insurance claim and was in the process of getting gap insurance and insurance to pay off the car. It took a few months and insurance, the dealership, and gap all made payments over these few months. However, the credit union didn't count any of those towards my payments and are now showing me 60 days past due and have reported on my credit bureau. I was in the bank in July making sure nothing like this happened and this was never explained to me. As of now they are completely Unwilling to work with me on anything. I never even received a phone call letting me know that this was going to be reported. Worst customer service I've ever dealt with, and I've had a lot of bad customer service. Fact the matter is they've got all their payments, car is now paid off yet I show past due on the loan that is taken care of. To top it all off the person I spoke with was rude as could be. Kept getting upset with me stating I was interrupting her. Only did that when she gave incorrect information. I will also be reporting to Better Business Bureau, and google reviews. I want people to be aware of just how badly they treat their customers. My other credit I union was more than happy to work with me on a similar incident years ago. They didn't have the slightest issue with my credit rating even though they received payments almost on a monthly basis. Set thing is, we were in the process of doing a home-equity loan. Going to make sure and cancel that now. There on willingness to work with me only costing them money
Response from the ownerHi, Brandon - As mentioned in our response to your original review on Yelp, we are looking into this further. Can you please direct message us with the full name on the account or a phone number at which we can reach out to you? Thanks.

Scribs Lutz1NEVER get an account here, they have the worst service. I thought Chase was hard to work with and trust. NOW I know what bad is, I got scammed and paid with a bad check, cashiers check, they took it. I called to ask if it cleared and they told me it did. Once this happened over 5 days later it bounced and they are making me pay for the total lose of funds. Before all this happened I had great credit and 100 track of paying my bills. They have ruined that for me and also they have no grace periods. They are now threatening me that they are going close my account and credit. Making it impossible to open another account or even keep my house or anything I worked for. Moral do not believe them when they say they will help or protect you from things like this. This is why we moved from banks and now I have one regret, choosing Amplify.
Response from the ownerHello - Thank you for contacting us about your concerns. We're so sorry about your recent experience and assure you that we take fraud very seriously at Amplify. During further review it was determined that we were able to recover a portion of the checks involved in the scam and credited the funds back to your account on March 5, 2018. If you have additional questions or concerns you’d like to discuss please contact April. H at 512-836-5901
