Glenn Stegall1I'm very disappointed by the way Ameris Bank handles overdraft and return fees. Everything about the process is meant to reap havoc on their customers. The sole mission is to charge as many overdraft fees as possible. My business has a unique way of paying invoices. We write COD checks for several months in the future. There are times when a check may come out earlier than the date we expect. With hundreds of checks coming out per year we get things right 95% of the time. However, occasionally we don't transfer enough money in time and several checks come out at once. Instead of Ameris applying the available balance to the smallest checks, they usually pick the largest one to cause more fees. No other major bank we use follows this method. Most recently they have also stopped showing pending transactions as they have for years. This prevents you from being able to transfer money from other Ameris' accounts to avoid overdraft fees. As many banks are working to eliminate these fees Ameris is working to take as much from their customers as possible. These fees and practices are the primary reason I'm working on transferring all my stores to another bank after over 7 years of business.

matthew Bridges1I have been trying since April 21st of 2021 just to get a debit card, my first 24 messages were never responded. They were so nice to me when I opened my account. Since then customer service has been a nightmare. I live on a fixed income and really need my money to survive. I was by bank management to send a copy of my identification and she would send me a cashier check. Never happened, just recent all the information they requested. Let you know how it ends. Again they were the absolute best bank ever when I opened my account

Madeline Vinson1This was my 1st time home buying experience, my mortgage lender pre approved me in October of 2020, I signed the sale agreement, four months later after continuously leading us on she finally called us a few days before the closing date saying my husband hasn’t been with his job for more than a year so we were denied. However this was information given in the beginning of this whole process. After this call, she never responded to any of our phone calls again. She not only ruined our credit by doing many(10+) hard credit pulls but we had to break our signed agreement and that family suffered from this loss as well. I feel as though My mortgage lender was unprofessional, unprepared, and does not have the proper knowledge to have this job. I will never deal with Ameris bank again and I will inform others of my terrible experience. DO NOT bank here!

Whitney Hall1Absolutely the slowest drive through. Ever. Horrible. 1 teller working on a Friday afternoon. Ridiculous. ATM is broken more often than it works. If I could give half a star I would.
