America First Credit Union Reviews

Jeremiah Griswald5I've always felt the tellers at this branch are friendly and easy to work with. And they can count. And know the basics like how much a coin roll is. I've had bad experiences at no less than 5 other branches, and so I make a point of coming to this location when I can.

Kimball White4EDIT 5/24/22: I put this review up to 4 stars instead of 2, because AFCU saw this review and offered to refund me some overdraft fees they have charged. I have since moved over to MACU across the parking lot, but really appreciate the fact that they are working on their PR. Sometimes the cash deposit machines are broken, which is annoying, and they occasionally lock down my parents’ credit card when we travel out of state, out of good intentions, but it just ends up being annoying.

Jair Barahona5Absolutely wonderful service. I called in about a promotion that I was told I would be eligible for, but didn’t yet see in my account. I called and spoke with Marbie and she was quick and thorough with helping me. She resolved the issue and was very polite!

Abrie Shepherd1We don’t bank here but met someone here to sell our car and it was a JOKE. Took so long, over an hour. There was absolutely no reason for us as the seller to be apart of the process for longer than 10 minutes.

J Tucker Davis5I have been with America First for 17 years and can't say enough good things about it. I have been completely satisfied with the service! And this particular branch is a wonderful place to bank. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. Lori was recently my teller and she was very welcoming, professional, and pleasant. And Mike, the manager, has been extremely helpful with providing medallion and notary attested signatures on documents, as well advice on other matters. AFCU is just a class operation!.

Zach Barnes5The loan officer Sara was very helpful. Set up a new account and auto loan for my wife and it was a great experience.

Heather Seegmiller1I'm an attorney and my usual notary was not available to notarize my document, so I went to this branch to get a document notarized. A notary's task is to check ID, make sure the signing person is who they say they are, and make sure they are signing with capacity. The notary at this branch, looked at my document, and said she thought I'd prepared it wrong. She would not notarize my document unless I made certain changes that she specified. It was a specialized document, and apparently she thought it was filled out wrong. As an attorney with 18 years experience, I can say that my document was just fine. The notary insisted that I make changes to my document before she would notarize. I would not, as the changes she wanted were not necessary and could have had legal impacts that I did not want. In the end, my document was not notarized, and I had to go to the bank next door, where they gladly notarized my document with no improper questions, like what I was subjected to at America First. A notary takes a little 30 minute course, and a little 30 minute test to get their notary stamp. It is beyond belief that the notary at this bank thought she was qualified or had any place demanding that I make changes to my document before she would perform such a basic task as a notary. I would caution any person to not bank or do business at this bank, as they should not have unqualified notaries attempting to force people to make changes to their legal documents, when notaries are not qualified to do so. This borders on the unauthorized practice of law, for which that notary could have been prosecuted, and for which she could be liable, especially if she demands a change that is made, and then later has legal consequences undesired by the signor. I am an attorney so I knew not to make the change she demanded, and instead, I just left and went elsewhere. But someone who is not an attorney might not realize that the notary at that bank is not an attorney and should not be trying to get people to fill out the content of their legal documents a certain way. Go to the bank across the parking long, Mountain America, where they offer better customer services, and where they only ask proper questions (such as "can I see your ID?") before performing notary services.

Eric Johnson4I have had no issues on my first car loan for the past 3 years so I did another car loan and it has been a bit more of a challenge. I do appreciate how some employees really put forth effort to make it a better experience.

Miranda Johnson1What happened to American First?? I did my second HELOC with them. Smooth and easy first go round! Second time? TERRIBLE! They wouldn’t put the loan through until I changed legal Documents. Documents that fit their criteria prior. (No change In law since). Central Bank called today. I have bounced SEVERAL checks. AF put the money in the savings account for my protection! Although, I was told it is in checking.

Kim Gilbertsen1Called re: applying for a home equity loan, was given the opportunity of adding my number to a call back list so that I wouldn't have to wait on hold. Took that option, and I was called back exactly 18 minutes later - which was the original estimated wait time - only to wait an additional 10 minutes on hold with still no answer from a live being. I hung up, called back to my local branch in Lehi, got a live body this time (!), only to once again be put thru to the same sh@%ty system as before! Come on America First, wake up and institute some real customer service!
