I have been a member for over 40 years. They are always helpful, their car loan rates are always competitive. But most of all , great people and great service!

      Response from the owner

Allen, thank you for your wonderful review. We appreciate being able to serve you for the last 40 years. Thank you for being an Allegius member!

I've been working with Gary since setting my account up and he's been great helping me out every step of the way. They offer great products and services and are very competitive in the credit union marketplace. I look forward to deepening my relationship with them moving forward!

      Response from the owner

Thanks for your review, Anthony! We’re so happy to have you as one of our members!

Always very slow service at the Michigan city location. They left me sitting at drive up window for over 10 minutes without any notice of why or reason. After asking I think they had 1 teller working driveup and interior of bank. Poor customer service. They also recently stopped processing PayPal orCashApp ttransactions .

      Response from the owner

We apologize for any delays you may have had today. We usually are very attentive to our member’s time through the drive-up lanes and get them through in a timely fashion. Today, however, we were down to one teller who assisted our lobby traffic and drive-up lanes during lunches. We have temporarily suspended Paypal and Cash app processing for our member’s fraud protection. We hope to re-activate soon. If you need any assistance give our Member Support Staff a call at 219-787-8049 and press option 2.

You have to tell them every single time you leave the state otherwise they warm your card. The fraud department doesn't even call you to verify! One of their employees warmed my card bc i live in Michigan and worked in Indiana ( been that way for over a year!) and saw transactions in 2 states. No phone call then either. I do a lot of online purchases and their fraud department wouldn't even let Walmart go thru until I called them. I understand about protecting me but it's super ridiculous!

      Response from the owner

Christina: Thank you for taking the time to write to us. We wanted to let you know how sorry we are that you weren’t able to access your card when you needed it. As you mentioned, we have precautions in place to protect our members from fraudulent activity, especially if they travel far from their usual places of business. In an era of high fraudulent activity we take the stance of being more cautious to protect our members. After some research, it looks like we did call you shortly after the card was warmed to ensure the validity of the transaction(s). I suggest you give us a call or stop into a branch to ensure we have the correct phone number on file so we can better serve you next time. We can work with you to alleviate the high degree of inconvenience. Please contact us at (219) 787-8049 and press option 2.

Do not do business here!! This was the scummiest bank that I have ever encountered. They are not honest, they are far from helpful. They are rude from the vice president to the bank president. Unfortunately when I financed a car this is where the loan was from..... They are a dirty business with only their interest in mind. They keep paper records which is odd to me. Should have been the first red flag however I was young and was totally taken advantage of. Now five years after paying my car off, receiving my title and selling the car they said they have a lien on my car for an unpaid loan through them. But also said I can pick up the title???? Which I already have, when my car was paid off!!!! Meeting with the vice president, who was just awful I asked to meet with the president and he refused, also odd. I was rational and just didn't want to deal with this awful, unpleasant women and she could not explain anything or figure it out. They lost my paper file and one point and could not track it down. It was an awful experience and I urge anyone to do your banking/loans elsewhere. These are my opinions based off of my personal experience. I have Centier now and they have not only been honest and friendly but have helped me significantly make the right moves for my financial future!

I visit the Hobart branch often. And I normally enjoy coming here. But I'm now at the point where I'm thinking about closing my account. And it's because of one person who obviously likes discussing certain personal business that has NOTHING to do with them. Mind your business and just do your job.

I wish I could make this no stars. This is by far the worst bank I have ever experienced in my life. They have no customer service. There is no access to assistance if the branch of closed. The number on the back of your debit card only gets you to a voicemail that won’t be answered til the next business day. They freeze accounts on weekends which means no access to any funds til Monday. I am extremely disappointed in this bank and I will be closing my account and taking my business elsewhere. Their fees are insane and everyone in these buildings will give you different informations WORST BANK EVER. I urge everyone to run away from this bank as fast as possible.

Quite possibly the WORST bank I've ever been to. The staff is extremely rude, they don't even greet you at the drive thru, or counter, and it shows on their faces they do not want to help you AT ALL. They have no idea what their bank policies are, let alone what kind of checks they can and cannot cash. Being a credit union and specifically being a "steelworker" credit union, they treat their customers with so much disrespect, it makes me sick to go there. I cannot wait until our last check clears, because of course they put a 7 day hold on it, we pay our loan out in full, and CLOSE our account.

Been here with this credit union for over 15 years. They do not do first time home buyers loan.

      Response from the owner

Visit their website at https://cumortgageservice.com/ to see the details and to begin your loan application process. We also want to thank you for your 13 years of membership at Allegius. We are very happy we were and still are able to assist you in reaching your financial goals. Sincerely, Gary Fossey Vice President of Member Development
