Alaska USA Federal Credit Union Reviews

Stephen Hitchcock1I am a member of this credit union, I live in central Europe. My AK USA Visa card expired at beginning of last March: they never sent replacement card, so can NOT make any purchases! 46 emails exchanged between me and member "service" center: still no card! Countless phone calls totaling well over 2 hours, endlessly being put on hold, always a different person....STILL NO CARD! They made me send them a business letter formally requesting a new Visa card early last month: STILL NO CARD. Horrible company, horrible customer service. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. AVOID THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE!!!
Response from the ownerHi Stephen, we truly appreciate you taking the time to bring this to our attention and we greatly apologize for the extensive inconvenience you have experienced. Please know that your experience does not meet our service standards and your Visa card has been made a top priority. A member of our management team will be in touch with you shortly to resolve this for you.

Justin Rasmussen1Reopened an account with you guys yesterday and regret it already. UltraBranch already not working, “estimated wait time is 3 minutes” and I’ve been on hold 21 mins so far. Worst customer service of any bank I’ve ever used

Russ S1Online services and banking services don't talk to one another. I like a financial institution that can coordinate the two services. If you offer a service online, then PLEASE-- know how to resolve an issue at the bank. It's already been a month and will probably take a month more to settle this issue.
Response from the ownerOh no! We're sorry to hear about your negative experience with us, Russ. Can you please send a good phone number to [email protected] so we can reach out to you directly? We'd like to resolve this issue for you if possible.

Brian Bogo1My wife and I moved 3 years ago and we have asked the visa department numerous times to update our address and still it goes on. So much for security of account etc its become a circus of a bank aweful customer service.
Response from the ownerHi Brian, we're very sorry to hear that this is happening to you and we're here to help you update your address. Can you please send a good phone number to [email protected] so we can contact you directly? It would be helpful if you mentioned this review in your message. Thank you.

McCall Anger5Came in with a ton of questions and Cody answered everything with amazing detail and knowledge! Came back and applied for a loan with Keith who was extremely patient and thoughtful through what was an hour-long process. Fantastic employees here who will answer all your questions and help you with everything you need.
Response from the ownerWe're so happy to hear that, McCall! We'll make sure your comments reach the C Street branch. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us. 🙂

Naynaylovesmakeup5Very polite workers always fast service. The benefits i get with banking here are worth it. I love how clean the place is. The hours of business is better and longer hours compared to ANY other bank. I have gotten my credit up through them. And the online banking is user friendly.

R Berry1Don't trust them. I had fraudulent activity on my debit card so I had their card services reissue a new card. For $15 I had them expedite the processing and was told 2-3 business days. Well, they managed to charge me the $15 but they failed to expedite it. Now that it's been a full week they tell me my "options" are 1- wait longer for it or 2- wait longer for it. That's right, they can do nothing about it and I should have my card in another week or so. 7-10 business days for a replacement seems very 1980s to me. I'll bet their CEO Geoff Lundfelt wouldn't get this level of incompetence.
Response from the ownerWe're sorry to hear about your negative experience with us. If you would like to speak with someone about your experience, please contact our Member Service Center at 800-525-9094 or [email protected].

Benjamin Miller1If a zero stars were possible I would. I’ve been with them for nearly 27 years and what has happened over the last year made me frustrated more than ever. They like to make a “service fee” if you don’t have a $1000 in a checking account. HOW CAN A BROKE a$$ COLLEGE STUDENT KEEP THAT KIND OF CASH WHEN THEY ARE LIVING FROM PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK!!! Anyways, I call in and they say to apply for a credit card and you can waive their theft. I do so and never heard back on approval. I already have credit cards and know I have good credit history, so approval shouldn’t be that hard. Due to their staff never responding, I am now “overdrafted” because of their theft and am getting charged $25 a month on top of the “service fee”. THEY HAVE STOLEN OVER $500 ALL IN THE NAME OF SERVICE FEES. I have now taken my accounts elsewhere and have had better service. Long story short, If you want to keep your money, find a actual bank that lets you keep your money without stealing it.
Response from the ownerThank you for taking the time to write a review, Benjamin. We're sorry to hear about your negative experience with us, especially since one of our core values is service. It is our goal to recommend the products and services that are most ideally suited to the financial interests of members, but it sounds like that was not true in this case. We offer several checking and savings account options that do not require members to maintain a minimum balance of $1,000. If you are interested in something like this or if you would still like to apply for a credit card, please send a good contact number to our Member Service Center at [email protected] so we can take care of this for you. We apologize that you never heard back on your former application and we will do everything we can to make sure this doesn't happen again!

Rob Lewis1Absolutely awful customer service. Take several weeks to get an answer and then try to justify not allowing me to set up a completely legal account. Horrible!! Response to your comment: Nope. You’ve had your chance. I spoke to your legal team. They admitted what I wanted to do was perfectly legal. Wouldn’t discuss further. I stand by what I’ve put here.
Response from the ownerThanks for sharing your feedback, Rob. We're sorry to hear that. We'll forward your comments to upper management for review. If you ever need anything else or have any questions, we're here to help.

Response from the ownerThat's great to hear, Christopher! Thank you for sharing your positive experience. 😊
