  It was such a pleasure working with David and Chris over at 1Rate. The process is super streamlined and all digital. In this day and age where we are worried about gathering in groups its great to see that I was able to provide all the documents needed digitally and even sign the paperwork over the internet. I can tell you that this team worked hard for me. I went from the idea of refinancing my house to signing the paperwork in 2 weeks. I didn't feel rushed at all and was able to lock in a great rate. This team is great and will help you in any way they can.

  After relying on the same broker for years, I switched to Michael Shim because he offered a refi rate my broker just couldn't match. Michael was a pleasure to deal with throughout the process. But that's easy. What's hard is doing the right thing when something goes wrong. Here, we missed the 30-day window for my closing -- because, I think, the entire industry was backed up on processing applications like never before. Michael did his best, and even paid to extend the rate lock once, but we still missed the extension. This is pretty much the worst thing that can happen in a refinancing, because rates shot up after Biden's inauguration, so the cost to buy back the same rate was enormous: $11k. My heart sank when I found out. But Michael did the right and honorable thing: 1Rate ate the entire cost. So not only did they not make any money on my refinancing, it cost them more than twice what their fee would have been. When I thanked him for how he handled this, he didn't bat an eye: "That's just the cost of maintaining our perfect 5-star rating. That's how we build our business." He was absolutely right. I would recommend him again without hesitation. You can trust that he and 1Rate will always do the right thing.

  1Rate really dropped the ball at the very last minute on my loan. We had several instances of communicating several months before the closing date. Everything went well about (2) months prior to my closing date I receive a loan estimate from David. He stated that I have plenty of time on this and that I'm very early so I have nothing to be concerned about. I was also simultaneously trying to get a loan estimate from another lender just as a back up (thank God I did this). David was well aware that I was getting quotes from other lenders. He asked that I at least give him the chance to beat the others by showing him a loan estimate. I spent the next 2-3 weeks trying to get the loan estimate from the other lender. Once, I got the loan estimate from the 2nd lender I immediately sent over a copy to David. I spoke with him later that day and David then suddenly says that the deadline is too close to submit for these loan products. It would've been nice to at least have had some sort of heads up in terms of a timeline. It went from you're super early to it's too late with no communication in between. I'm very disappointed In 1Rate. -- Paul

  In 2018, I was buying a house, so I asked my friends if they had anyone they would recommend for financing my home. More than one friend mentioned 1Rate, so I decided to reach out to them. From the start, I had a good impression. They were professional and personable, which helped working with them feel easier, especially during a high stressful time like buying a house. We liked working with 1Rate so much that we decided to work with them again when we refinanced our home this year. Again, they impressed us with their knowledge and they were efficient and on top of things every step of the way. We've worked with other mortgage companies before. I wish I had known about 1Rate sooner! Anytime I need a mortgage company again, it's a no-brainer. I'll be using 1Rate!
