  I tried three separate times to bank during my lunch break. The door had a CLOSED sign on it every day. I went around to the back business entrance and was told this location has been closed for months and to try another location. I also needed help over the phone before I tried coming into a branch location. The first day I stayed on hold for 40 minutes. No one ever answered. The second day, 20 minutes. No answer. The third day, I finally reached someone after waiting another 20 minutes. I am so unhappy with Zeal Credit Union as of late that when I do have the extra time, I will be closing my account.

We are working diligently to shorten our telephone wait times and that is improving daily. Regarding our Newburgh branch - we have tried our best to notify members that this branch is closed. The branch closed at the beginning of the pandemic and since that time, we have had a sign on the door stating it's closed, we have noted it as closed on our website, and have also noted it as closed in our Google listings.   THE WORST BANKING INSTITUTE! I have been a member since 2003 and at one point Zeal was a great bank, exceptional customer service and always going the extra mile. Now- absolutely terrible customer service. Your wait time to call is ALWAYS over an hour at least. No one is willing to help you, they have zero customer service skills and truly don’t care about any issues you have with your account, they make everything difficult. This institute is on a serious decline and i’d definitely reconsider if you’re thinking of banking here.

  I’ve been a customer of this credit union for 10 years. Wait time on hold is RIDICULOUS! No exaggeration, literally on hold for like 45 mins easily! I dont understand why they don’t consistently have a call back option (sometimes they do sometimes not). I’m getting tired of this credit union wasting time like this. In a minute I will close my account if this does not improve.

  ATM is out of order 1/2 the time. If you have a question regarding your account don’t even bother calling. The minimum time you’ll wait on hold is 45 minutes. I’ve actually called as a joke to test it out 3 times. The shortest wait time was 45 minutes. The longest was 1hr 52min. Customer service is an absolute joke, avoid this bank at all costs.

  My husband and I have repeatedly tried to get ahold of someone in the call center without any luck. We both work fulltime healthcare jobs and anytime we try to call someone we are on hold for over 1 hour before we have to hang up and return to work in the hospital. Over 1 hour wait time is completely ridiculous and I would urge anyone to go anywhere else for their banking needs.

  Having been a customer for 17yrs, I can no longer be. We have had multiple loans through coop and now zeal but lack of customer care have become atrocious. Now after rushing to get to the Livonia location before 5pm to deposit a check, arriving at 4:40 and the lobby is closed. On the app it says the lobby is open and it closes at 5pm. There is no reason to bank here anymore.

  Recently I stopped in to check on my IRA Retirement account at the Zeal Credit Union on Middlebelt Rd in Livonia. Bart was available and immediately helped me in navigating through some questions that I have regarding Direct deposits from my retirement account. He was very professional, kind and polite throughout our conversation. He offered to call another associate at another branch to help answer a question that he was not sure about. That person was not available so he left a message for her to call back. Rather than me waiting, he assured me that he would call me with the answer. Bart called a little while later with the answer and asked if their was anything else that he could do for me. He is truly an asset to Zeal customer service. No matter where he is working, he always has a smile and a Thank you!!

  Their automated Call/Help Center is a joke. I just spent over an hour, on hold, waiting for a customer service representative. I actually had to laugh out loud when the automated message said "to report a lost or stolen card call us immediately". Evidently, "immediate" means about 48 hours. Any Thief can make short work of your finances in that small amount of time. In that event they'd clean you out.

  Connie P in the Mortgage Dept has been very helpful. My Husband and I have our Mortgage, 2 saving accounts, a personnel loan that can be used if we want to use it & we had a vehicle loan with Zeal that we paid off too. The customer service is top notch, the interest rates are awesome. We go to the Westland and Livonia locations and we've never had a problem. Thank you Zeal Credit Union

  This company is consistently underwhelming and has lead to much personal infuriation. They have socioeconomic discriminatory policies (the do not treat all branch locations the same and they have different hold policies depending on location). They have been dishonest on their policies and misleading with their loans. I was offered a car loan at a rate once I set up auto-pay and then they swore it never happened since I signed the paperwork at a higher rate. The car manufacturer that I purchased from sent me a check to make the situation right because they knew how misleading the whole process was. They were equally dumbfounded by the practice of the credit union and had personally reached out the credit union to explain what they had said before signing the papers. Much like my personal experiences with reaching out to the bank, they don't right the situations. They dig into their unethical and disgusting practice. This isn't a bank for the working man, it's a bank that takes advantage of the working man. Find another bank, this is just about as bad as it gets.
