Caitlin Ondrejack1STAY AWAY FROM THIS BRANCH. I have been a longtime customer of Wells Fargo. A few weeks ago my car was broken into and my purse was stolen. Police tracked it to a group of individuals known for identity theft. I cancelled all of my Wells Fargo cards (Credit, Debit, and checking account) immediately after the break in. A week later I received a call from this branch asking if I had just come into their bank and withdrew $2,000 from my savings account. When I told them no, that I was at work, the employee said “oh no”. The WF employee told me someone had drove up to the farthest lane at the drive up and withdrew the money from my account. All the person did was show my license and $2k was given to them. They told me after they gave the money they realized the license didn’t match the person in the car. When they went outside to approach the car, the person sped away. I filed a claim with WF Customer Care and asked many questions like WHY didn’t it come up in the system to the employee at the branch that my accounts were closed due to my account information being stolen, WHY didn’t the employee check my ID before giving the money, WHY was only my license enough ID, WHY was it possible for someone to take money out of my account without an account number, WHY didn’t the bank employee question $2k being taken out of an account (most banks ask for more ID if the withdrawal is over $500). While customer care did an investigation, I called the branch and the EXTREMELY rude supervisor blamed it on another branch in Verona. When I told him that is not what his employee told me when she called after the incident, he said “Yes, that is what she said, I was standing right next to her when she told you”. He clearly did/does not want to take responsibility for the MANY mistakes that happened under his supervision. The customer care center is still dealing with the incident, but won’t provide a follow up for me. I have since switched banks and will never return to being a Wells customer ever again.
