Kathi Zills1I was a member at Verve for several years. I closed my accounts a couple of months ago, due to limited locations by my new home. The closing processes turned into a hassle. I was charged for cashiers checks to get my money out of the accounts. Today I called customer service to confirm that all my accounts were actually closed and got the rudest customer service person I’ve ever talked to at Verve. He was condescending and extremely rude. I use to be a big fan of Verve, but my recent experiences have definitely changed my mind. Update: Not only are the accounts I closed two months ago not closed, they allowed debits to come out on two separate occasions and overdraft the account. We were told that the accounts would be brought current and closed a week ago. After several more calls, emails, and in person stops, the accounts are still NOT closed. Nobody seems to know what’s going on when you talk to someone and there is little to no follow through from any of the employees we’ve talked with. Honestly ridiculous and extremely disappointing.
Response from the ownerHi Kathi. Thank you for sharing your feedback. Creating a positive experience for our members is a top priority for us and we apologize for your experience.

Vickie1Beware... Verve charges $400.00 for pre-approval mortgage loans which are valid for only 60 days with a 30-day extension. They will deduct fee from closing costs, but only if you secure an offer before deadline...if not, you are out $400.00, will have to reapply and again pay a $400.00 fee. That is not typical practice...Save your money...There are other local credit unions that do not charge an application fee.
Response from the ownerHi Vickie. At Verve, we continually strive to provide our members with the best in banking. Our pre-approvals are provided at no cost and are good for 60 days. When our members have a property selected and would like to proceed with next steps, only then is there an application deposit. We’d love to have a member of our team connect with you to clarify any confusion in regards to our mortgage process. Please give us a call at 800.448.9228, or email us at [email protected]. Thank you!

Allison Luft1If you're looking for a big BANK with tons of fees, this is the place for you. Verve acts exactly like a bank, refuses to work with members on fee reversals when the member is clearly struggling and can't afford all the astronomical fees, and only cares about the money. You might as well go to chase or US bank they will treat you better. Discrimination against poor people at its finest. The tellers are also rude and inconsiderate. Everything about this place should tell you to run the other direction.
Response from the ownerHello Allison. We are sorry to learn we missed the mark on providing excellent service. We will have a member of our team reach out to you shortly to learn how we can improve. Thank you!

choua vang1The verve on Oneida Street is the worst location I've had to deal with. I had two different experiences. One being the teller telling me I didn't have a certain acct I was trying to pull money from. The second time was when I had an appt at 9:30 and there was a number to call, so I did and the lady on the phone said "someone will come get you" after getting in contact with them (It's COVID so everything was by appt). After waiting for an hour and calling the number twice to be disconnect twice; I drove to the drive-thru. All the lady could say was "You're appt was at 9:30 and it's been an hr now. Connie has your contact information and she'll contact you. Sorry" Let me remind you I was in their parking lot at 9:20 and called the number. I used to drive half an hour to visit the Witzel location branch and these experiences within a two week span has reminded me why I take the drive- just thought they would prove me wrong.
Response from the ownerHello Choua. We are sorry to learn we missed the mark on providing excellent service. We will have a member of our team reach out to you shortly to learn how we can improve.

Roger Ferguson1This credit union continues to be the worst bank I have ever dealt with. I can’t wait to be back in Wisconsin to close my account. I know they won’t care to lose another customer but I’m so over them.
Response from the ownerHello Roger. We are sorry to hear that we missed the mark on your experience. Please let us know if you'd like to speak with a member of our team so we can learn how to improve in the future. Thank you!

Nick Van Dinter1After being a member and officer of Lakeview Credit Union, to say the least I’m very disappointed in Verve, a credit union. I have had unauthorized monies removed from my accounts (Verve did replace the money), I was unable to open a new account because no one in the branch could do that. When I did get the account open, they didn’t have the automatic deposit set up correctly. I recently travelled out of the country and tried using my Verve debit card. I found their exchange rate to be average, but was very surprised to find a “foreign cur con fee”! You will not see this fee on Verve’s webpage “Consumer Account Summary” page! The other credit union I use doesn’t charge anything for using my card outside the US. I strongly suggest you look at and compare fees on Verve’s webpage “Consumer Account Summary” page! When you call Verve they will tell you “This is Verve, A Credit Union”. If they didn’t tell you this, you may very easily confuse them with a bank. If you read the reviews here you will notice the number of people who refer to Verve as a bank. You will find all the fees and rates associated with the big banks. If you really want to tell if it is a credit union or bank, ask to see the president, Kevin Ralofsky. I tried twice and he was never able to see me. Never had that problem when Pat Lowney was president!
