Vantage Credit Union Reviews

ken wilmes1If you are OK with waiting 10 days for a cashier's check to hit your account, then by all means do business with this pathetic credit union.

Christopher Tiihonen1If I could give less than a star I would. They always have a line around the block to use one of their digital tellers outside of the building. Inside the building has the same tech but the digital tellers can do little more than an ATM. Want a bank statement? Can't do that. Have to setup and appointment. I'm busy and came in on my day off. I do not have time to setup an appointment for a service y'all used to do at request. On top of all this I recently changed financial institutions because VCU had made a lot of terrible changes. I thought I would leave the account open in case any stimulus money came in or anything and for the few things that charged to that account I could pay the money and update the payment location. Vantage has my email and my phone number. Instead of updating me that my account was in the negative they waited until I was hundreds of dollars in the negative to send me some snail mail. For what was the equivalent of about $100 they have now charged me well over $300 in overdraft fees. They had no interest in notifying me and were more than happy to charge me a boatload in fees, the service has fallen beneath the basement floor, and they are loaded with incompetence and untrained "professionals", which is pretty stressful when it comes to my money.
Response from the ownerChristopher- thank you for leaving feedback for us. We appreciate your openness and want to offer some insights that could help if you choose to keep your account open. We do have busy times at our branches where the line gets long. Appointments were required until May of 2021, but our branches are fully open now. If you need a bank statement, they're available through online banking and our mobile app. At the branch you can use our internet cafés to print out what you need - no appointment needed. Within online banking you also have the option to set up reports/notifications for all transactions, fees, deposits, balances, and a variety of specific transactions. You can choose to receive a text or email notification at a variety of intervals and for a specific or unending amount of time. If you need assistance getting these reports set up, please reach out through chat or stop by a branch. We'd be happy to assist you so you can avoid any issues in the future.

Emily Orf1I do realize that with covid going on that staff has been stretched. But there is one teller line open and ten cars deep. Unacceptable some people dont have 45 mins to wait in line. Hire more staff or transfer others from a different location. The inside of the bank isnt even open so contact with others is very minimal. If we cant go in i dont expect to wait in line this long.
Response from the ownerEmily- Thank you for your feedback. We have opened our ATM up for access to tellers during normal business hours, so if you ever see a long line in the drive-up, just go around to the ATM. By touching the screen instead of inserting your card, you'll be directed to a teller. Also, if you have a smart phone, our remote deposit option works great for any check deposits you might have. Cash can be deposited in the ATM without a hold. Hope this helps!

Devin Paulson1Never take out a loan with this bank! Horrible customer service, predatory lending practices, the list is long. They will rob and steal from you at their discretion with no regard. Do yourself a favor and use First Community Credit Union across the street.
Response from the ownerWe're sorry that you feel this way. We take great care in serving our members well and adhering to strict lending practices and guidelines.

Kirill Ivanov5Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The smoothest auto loan application process in my experience. I knew nothing about lease buyouts, and they walked me through painlessly and quickly. Better rates than major banks.

stephen schweppe1Just wanted to say that I have been a long member to Vantage. An today is probably the first time I've been upset with my bank. I had pulled an LOC of $500, just for the reason of small overdrafts. An I consistently payoff the LOC off every time and early. But after a phone call with a Vantage rep, supposedly I was informed that I received either a peice of mail or email that explains that as of June 1st 2017 they will charge a 3.00 dollar fee for every LOC draft fee. Thanks Vantage Credit Union for the email or piece of mail that I never seen. Maybe I will send smoke signals for you if I have a problem, thanks again for the poor way of handling the issue. Dont even know why I have an LOC for you charge 25 dollars for overdraft fees from the accounts.
Response from the ownerStephen- We're sorry that you didn't receive the Change in Terms back in April or the messaging about them. For your overdraft loan, you can avoid the $3 fee by transferring funds yourself through online banking or at a branch or ATM without incurring the fee. It is only charged when the funds are automatically transferred because you didn't have enough in your account. The insufficient funds fee is only charged if there aren't enough funds in your account or within your Overdraft LOC to cover a transaction. I hope this helps clarify things for you, but if you have additional questions or concerns, please reach out to one of our staff.

Vicki R2I have lost my debit card and was not able to find the number. Talking to a representative is extremely difficult and canceling my card impossible until I went to the branch in person . The message service was not helphul in any way.
Response from the ownerSo sorry to hear that you lost your debit card! Hoping the branch got everything sorted out for you. If you need anything else, please let us know.

Donna Ryan5It very accessable, ATM outside. Handicap parking. Play like area for kids and a TV to watch while waiting. The wait hardly ever happens and the staff is courteous and very friendly. Computer's inside so you can check your info if you need.

Maureen Kovach1You aren't allowed to call your own branch. This is a huge problem since you're unable to get the same person or answer. They never tell you the same thing twice.
Response from the ownerWe apologize that you had difficulty reaching the same person with your question. Our staff should be providing consistent answers regardless of whom you speak with. If you'd like to message us more details, we can ensure they understand how to address questions like yours going forward. [email protected] Thank you!
