  Unlike the other mortgage lenders we considered using, Jeff Bell of Upwell Mortgage was very upfront and honest about how a Mortgage Bank like Upwell works and how the mortgage industry makes its money, including what fees to watch out for when shopping around. Because we were so interested in understanding this, Jeff spent almost 2 hours helping us understand how best to shop for a loan and explained how the process has changed since ~2015. Jeff also helped us better understand the trade-offs between a 10 year ARM and a 30 year fixed loan. Throughout the home buying process, Jeff was the most responsive of all the lenders we were considering, responding to us on evenings and weekends as we were making our offer on the house. The upfront pre-approval process was simple, straightforward, and online, which made securing financing once we were under contract very quick (we were easily able to close in 25 days - and that included over the holidays). When it came down to it, Jeff beat a very good Loan Estimate from an online bank that was primarily competing on price. Overall, Jeff saved us 0.375% on our rate and multiple thousands of dollars in lender fees compared to the 4 other "premium" Mortgage Banks others had recommended to us and we had gotten Loan Estimates from. With Jeff, we felt like we got the best of both worlds: competitive pricing and amazing customer service. I truly cannot recommend Jeff (and Upwell) enough. We would definitely work with him again.

  A great business is one that has leadership and management that know your name and take time to answer phone calls and questions. Upwell Mortgage is just that. Jeff Bell helped my wife and I through our first home purchase and explained the process every step of the way. Customer service is excellent and it is matched with competence and expertise. Jeff even noticed a legal mistake on the part of the realtors and quickly solved it so I could still move my family into our new home on our planned schedule. Overall I would recommend Jeff and Upwell to anyone looking for great people to help them with the mortgage process.

  Jeff Bell was a pleasure to work with in buying my house. The most stressful part of the process was determining the monthly payment. I found a great house, but was very anxious about whether I could afford it. The mortgage payment calculator could only give approximations. Jeff was able to give more precise numbers, and he responded to my late Saturday night text the first thing on a Sunday morning. I made an offer that night, which was accepted. The real estate agent let me know that the next day, another bid came in for $5,000 over my offer, which was more than I could afford. Jeff's amazing level of service put me in the pole position to be the first across the finish line. He was also very upfront about explaining points versus credits of the mortgage and calculating what, of the many mortgage types, made the most sense for me, then, right before signing closing documents, eased my mind that the rate I locked in weeks earlier at was better than the current rate.

  Jeff Bell and his team at Upwell mortgage (Gretchen and Chad) have once again been fantastic. We wanted to buy our new home before we sold our current home. Jeff and team came up with a way to put a bridge loan in place and armed with the Upwell pre-qualification letter we were ready to find our new home. The pre-qualification process basically took care of 80% of the work of applying for a loan up front so when the time came to pull the trigger the application process was a snap. Jeff and team found the right products at the best rates available. We were able to close in less that 4 weeks and even closed early giving us another weekend to coordinate our move. Finally, when an issue with the new home was identified during the inspection Jeff and team were able to facilitate moving forward with the loan with the repairs underway but not yet complete. Even my RE Agent was surprised and has become a fan. We highly recommend Jeff and the Upwell team for your mortgage lending needs. You will not be disappointed. This is our 2nd mortgage loan with Jeff and we will use them for all future mortgage lending needs.

  I found out about Upwell and Jeff from co-workers. Their rates were competitive and outside of big banks (= slower closing and worse service) cannot be beat - trust me, I tried 😀. Service was impeccable. I had a misfortune of closing during a very volatile 2 weeks for mortgage rates - they dropped but at least 0.25% over a week but Jeff was able to drop our rates by a bit even after locking. Closing was smooth and exactly on time - in 28 days. They could have done it faster if needed. Another pleasant surprise was that there was no manual appraisal for this specific house because their automated models were confident enough - ymmv. Overall, I'd highly recommend for everybody except for the few who don't mind a less predictable closing time in exchange for a slightly lower rate from a big bank.

We communicated with many brokers over lifetime, and Bill is the best. We like to understand factors that determine market trends and consider various scenarios.   I worked with Upwell Mortgage to purchase my first home, and wow—what an awesome experience, every step of the way. Being a first-time homebuyer, I had a million questions. Jeff, Chad, and Gretchen were super patient with me and took the time to fully explain everything, helping me feel so much more knowledgeable and empowered in the process. They were always on top of everything that needed to be done: though home buying is inherently a little bit stressful, their clear instructions and deadlines made everything as stress-free as possible. And, when a little mix-up with my appraisal happened through no fault of theirs, they were there (on the weekend!) to pick up the pieces and make sure everything was handled on time.
