Dustin1If you were to hand your money over to a complete stranger they would probably do a better job of protecting your money than SunTrust. First off, they don't allow you to dispute transactions. One time I made an online purchase from a site I hadn't used before. It was a one-time transaction but the merchant continued to charge my account more times and on different dates beyond that without permission. The only option SunTrust gave me was to lock my card permanently. Luckily I was able to contact a decent human at the company and have my card info deleted on their end. If they had been complete theives they could've drained me for every dollar, and if SunTrust did anything at all it would be adding a $37 overdraft fee for each time they ran the card. If a few transactions made elsewhere 5 days before were still processing, those would overdraft as well in that situation. The order in which they are supposed to process your transactions is explained on their site and pamphlet, but they don't always follow it. I've gone over it with tellers and managers at multiple branches and many times over the phone. Even when they admit there is a mistake they don't fix it. The merger won't change things either. Considering how BB&T charges $8 to cash their own checks if you don't have an account with them, I expect Truist will be one of the most crooked and greedy banks in the country.

Paul1Corporate led buffoons. Just wanted to open a savings account but they required not only all of the identification I brought, but also wanted to run my credit (didn't say that was a requirement anywhere on their website). I told the manager that I brought all the required information and I did not understand why they needed to run my credit for a savings account. He stated that it was policy and either I unfreeze my credit reports and allowed them to run me through Experian or I could not open the account. Went down the street and opened a savings account with no problems at a local bank. If you want any kind of real service, I suggest you bank local.

Ryan Carden2Stay far away from this bank, they have horrible customer service! I've had a personal checking, business checking, and many credit card accounts for almost a decade with BB&T. Over the past several years the customer experience has definitely declined along with a major increase in fees and other unprofessional moves on the bank's part. Most recently unknown to me, they decided to open a second line of credit to cover overdraft fees on one of my business accounts. They didn't notify me about this second line of credit and of course they piled on late payment charges and interest on this line. It had several hundred dollar's worth of charges before I discovered it months later. Most recently when closing out my accounts they denied having received a credit of $80 on a refund transaction I had previously made. I have a POS receipt with a authorization number showing that the money was credited to my account yet they insist that they have no record of the transaction. I find it very hard to believe that there was no record for this transaction as I was told by the Downtown Knoxville branch. BB&T are unethical at best and I would highly advised avoiding them at all costs!

J S1The BB&T bank call center is the worst. After waiting for what seemed forever, the woman on the other end was rude and then said, “What a minute.” I waited again, patiently, only to have her hang up on me. Thanks “Deedra” or whatever your name is.

Eva4They are very nice and helpful here. The only drawback is it's in an office tower with a parking garage. There isn't a drive through. But it is a spectacular bank.
