The Tennessee Credit Union Reviews

Gabe Wall1My mobile deposit of my payroll check was rejected because I was told I needed more money in my account than the amount of the check. Not only that but no one from the credit union bothered to call me to tell me it was rejected. When I called to find out what in the world happened to this check they admitted on the phone that they don’t even process mobile deposits, that a 3rd party does it so they couldn’t even tell me what the rules regarding mobile deposit are so I can know for the future. Do NOT open an account with this credit union. I will be taking my banking elsewhere as soon as possible.

Stacy Wells1The worst bank I've ever used. The tellers are always rude, their technology is outdated and their overall customer service is terrible. Take your money elsewhere.
Response from the ownerHi Stacy--We are sorry to hear about your experience with TTCU. We would like to get you in touch with a member of our management staff to use this as an opportunity to learn from our mistakes. Would you please email us at [email protected] with the best time of day and phone number to get in touch with you so we can begin this conversation? Again we apologize for your experience.

Lucas Leverett (pwrmacjedi)4As with many financial institutions, you're gonna have moments of frustration with your bank or credit union. However, TTCU has done an incredibly good job meeting those moments and succeeding in resolving them for me on many occasions. Usually, review sites attract Negative Nancys and hardly any positive sentiments, so I thought it was important to add some balance to the ratings for these folks. Nobody is perfect, but having suffered through some competitors screw-ups (Looking at you Old Hickory...), this one is far and away a vast improvement. Give them a try.

Tyler D'Andrea5My family and I have had a very positive experience with Tennessee Credit Union. We refinanced our mortgage through TCU, and aside from getting a better deal than I could find anywhere else (interest rates, fees, term of loan, etc.), the process was very seamless and highly personalized. Even to this day, when there is a question or issue about our balance or payments, I am contacted directly by the individual who originally set up my loan, and when I need to reach them, I am able to do so easily and directly. AND, when I go in to the branch, there's usually cake ready for the taking!!! Love this bank and would recommend them to anyone. Shop local!

Michelle Dennis1Horrible experience it has been over a year and a half I still cannot get the paperwork for my house paid in full. There is Always an excuse the bank branch manager is not there he’s off today he’s on vacation we will mail it to you and we still have it takes a year and a half to mail that really then we don’t have your email address I can’t give you confirmation number oh yeah I found your email address you talk to different people and every teller tells a different story and it’s always excuse after excuse after excuse so there’s too many credit unions around here to deal with this.Tennessee teachers credit union used to be very good but now they are horrible. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Kevin V1The customer service is generally pretty good. But if you need to finance or refinance a house and your checking account is not with TTCU, it is NOT worth it. Not being able to pay your mortgage online or on the app is a major deal breaker. I didn't realize that you had to either mail in a check, physically go to a branch and make a cash advance on your debit card, move your checking account to the TTCU or transfer money from your main bank to TTCU and it can take over a week for it to hit your TTCU account which can make your mortgage late. If I had known that before I refinanced I would not have refinanced my mortgage through TTCU. Their app and website is stuck in the year 2000. It's old, dated and lacks and modern function like paying a mortgage. I will refinance with another lender when i'm able too and never refinance or finance another mortgage with TTCU. They really should disclose that you are NOT able to pay your mortgage online or through the app directly.

Sgwoodley1Get ready to wait forever. I’ve been going here for months and there is almost always just one teller working at a time- which is frustrating because there could be up to two other tellers behind the counter, but their stations are closed. If you’re not a member and use a linked branch like me, you aren’t allowed to use the drive-thru check deposit services and are forced to wait up to 30 minutes in line. I’ll be using a different bank for all of my check deposits from now on.

Rebecca Saindon1If you have a savings or checking account with TTCU and it remains dormant for a few months they simply give the money to the State of Tennessee! I was flabbergasted when I went in today to close my accounts and was told they had been closed and if I wanted to try to reclaim my $$ I should go to the state's unclaimed property website, and wished me good luck. .

Kim Hanson1I hate this credit union so much. I have been using them for over 2 years. It has been a nightmare. Cannot log in. Getting fees that the Knoxville branch will not return. I had to use the main branch feature. Tellers are rude, especially in Knoxville. I try to pay off my credit line but it says my account is too low??? I am going back to Bank of America.
