I have an account with this bank. My father sent me some money for Christmas via the account and routing number for this bank. Said it would take about 3-5 business days to post and yet still nothing as of 1/11/2022. I have made numerous attempts to contact their customer service department and only get an instant automated response saying “all customer service representatives are busy” and to leave a message which I have 3 times now and still nobody has reached out to me about the issue. Have never dealt with a bank with such poor customer service or delay in processing a transaction.

      Response from the owner

Chris, I apologize if I am making an incorrect assumption here, however I suspect that you may be referring to a prepaid or gift card of some kind, in which case Sutton Bank is the issuer of many prepaid and gift cards through numerous payment partners. We do not, however, provide customer support for these card programs, as they provide support for their own account & cardholders. The program partner's phone numbers should be the number on the back of the card. We have no access to these card databases, and are therefore unable to provide any assistance.

Apparently the only way to hear back from anyone at this bank is if you leave a scathing review! All of their numbers go to the same automated recording and no one ever returns a call. If you are looking for a good banking experience, do NOT use this bank!!!

My sister sent me $500.00 for rent last month through cash app, although I had my bank account information in cash app the money supposedly went on my card so I went to the ATM to withdraw the funds but the card declined, so I took it to my bank to withdraw from the card, but it also declined with the bank. I've called cash app support to assist but I keep getting the run around, life is already a struggle but you should be able to trust the banks and their partners but not in this case, they have $500.00 of mine that I cant even get, and I see that it was received I even got charged a fee of $13.75 but were is my money and why come it's so hard for this issue to be resolved when its through your business.

      Response from the owner

Sutton Bank is the issuer of the Square Prepaid debit card which acts as an access device to funds held within the Square Cash App, maintained by Square Inc. We do not hold the funds and unfortunately we cannot address the funding issues you are having with Cash App.

I purchased a Vanilla gift card for $75.00 for my daughter Monday, December 23rd for a Christmas gift. I gave it to her Christmas. She tried using it the next day and the card was invalid. She then tried using it on Amazon card was declined. I called the number on back of card I was told by their representative I will I have to wait up to 15 business days to get a new card. I read comments on other websites other people get these same cards from Vanilla and they do not work and they lose their money. I am a single mom and this $75 took me a whole day of working overtime to come up with this money. Now my daughter has no Christmas gift. I tried talking to a supervisor see could we speed it up the process so she would have to wait so long for a replacement card. I was hung up on by a very rude gentleman. I just want what I paid for. Sutton Bank has ruined my daughters Christmas. I do not have another $75 to give her. This is a terrible company. Make sure you are not buying a Vanilla Visa Cards you can get ripped off. Sutton bank owns this company and offered no help to me and they won't for you either.

      Response from the owner

While Sutton Bank partners with many Gift and Prepaid Card issuers, in this case we were NOT the issuer of this Vanilla Gift card, nor does Sutton Bank own Vanilla Gift. Therefore this review was unfairly directed to Sutton Bank. Rhonda Martin, Marketing Officer, Sutton Bank

Not completely sold on this bank. I currently bank through a local credit union and the hidden fee's are getting outrageous, so I thought I would switch to something closer home, Sutton being that. Plus, I heard a lot of great things about them. There are a few fee's I don't agree with, such as being charged $5 to automatically transfer money from savings to checking if its short but I guess that is a common practice, but over-all, seemed a step up from my current issues. One thing I was told, which was a big deal, was that the mobile deposit was free and easy. My old bank charged me $.50-$1.00 for every check I did a mobile deposit on so this was great news that the fee Sutton use to have was waived. I went to use this feature Monday to deposit a check and it said I had to call and verify? Wasn't 100% sure why but I did, 3 times, and all 3 times it would just ring. So I try again Tuesday, this time I got through. I explained what the message said and was told I needed to opt-in to the feature, not sure why it wasn't done while we were discussing everything when I opened my account but whatever, no big deal. I was asked how much the check was and a few other questions then asked if I would be depositing anything larger than $100. I answered that I'm sure I would at some point seeing I run a small business. I was then told that if I did, I would have to call back and verify for a larger deposit. What? I made the comment how that was pretty inconvenient to which I was assured that it was an easy process and wouldn't take long. I explained what had happened that previous day and not being able to get a hold of anyone, the teller I was speaking with told me (in a snotty tone I might add) how busy they are on Mondays and that is why nobody could answer. I understand that, it happens, but if I need to deposit money before a payment is taken out, and can't because someone is too busy to answer the phone to verify the deposit, who's fault is it going to be if a check bounces or payment doesn't get made? I was told it was because I had just opened the account and had a small amount in it. Okay? That is why I'm trying to deposit money, to build that account, obviously. Since when are there stipulations to depositing in my own account? Why was this never discussed with me when I was told about the feature? Why can't I find anything online or in the terms and conditions packet I was given? I know this seems like a small or maybe none important issue to most but if something this little is causing an issue, I'm concerned about what other kind of issues I might have in the future. If I wanted to find out the hard way about hidden obstacles, I would just stay with my old bank. Update- problem was solved. Simple resolution but hopefully changes for the future will be made to ensure nobody else has the problem I did. No problems since.

      Response from the owner

Heather, Thank you for your honest review and feedback about your initial experience with Sutton Bank. We appreciate you choosing Sutton Bank as your financial institution, and we pride ourselves on the high level of customer service we provide. Your comments revealed an internal communication issue regarding our Mobile Check Deposit service and the procedures for onboarding a new customer. While we can attribute it partially to a recent change in service providers--and therefore new procedures, we obviously failed to properly communicate these new procedures amongst our staff. That said, Mobile Check Deposit availability is handled differently for new accounts versus established accounts simply due to the high fraud potential of the service itself. Thus the conservative default limit and verification process. We are addressing the internal communication issue by standardizing the written procedures and distributing them to the entire staff. Again, we thank you for choosing Sutton Bank, and apologize for the confusion surrounding Mobile Check Deposit. We hope your future customer services experiences with us are nothing but positive. Sincerely, Rhonda Martin Marketing Officer Sutton Bank

I would give them -5 stars if possible. Customer service (like it doesn't exist), no one ansvers, no one replyes on voice mail, when you do reach someone after a couple of days in attempt to report a fraud they say that they cant help you etc, they cant transfer you to fraud department, they cant give you phone number on which someone will answer.
