Sunset Vacations Reviews

Laurie Watson1Very unhappy with my experience at GROUPERS THERAPY. We have used Sunset Vacations for over 20 years and this was the worst. The maids had issues with the door code from the owner, which caused the cleaning to begin at what should have been our check in’ Our perishables were perishing outside waiting. The metal cables across the decking did not meet building code standards (had failed inspection) due to lack of tightness, which could allow a small child or pet to separate it to peek through and get their neck caught. The fireplace was left unfinished with plywood boards. I had to spend several hours cleaning, removing suctioned bath mats and scrubbing… There had obviously been a dog or several dogs the home (my daughter is HIGHLY allergic) so she had NO CHOICE but to launder the bed cover. They held my security deposit as a result after leaving a less than polite message. I would have happily covered the cost, however, COMMON SENSE should tell an owner that you should provide washable bed covers when you allow your or other people’s pets into your rental property. The beach was also EXTREMELY crowded this year. Just overall disappointing experience!

Kelly Mitchell5More than once I got better service than would be expected by 3 of the gals in the office and twice Dan picked up UPS deliveries that arrived after I vacated the homes I rented from them. There are the best!

Rebecca Foster5We have been going to Sunset Beach for many, many years and we always use Sunset Vacations as our rental company. Everyone that works there will go above and beyond to make sure your stay is the best vacation. Gina has helped us out on more than one occasion.

Marilou Cooper5We've rented through Sunset Vacations for many years and have been very satisfied. Gina has been especially helpful and goes out of her way to find the perfect cottage for us. When we first arrive we always do an inspection. Any concerns we've had in the past were promptly dealt with. We've also dealt with Sunset Properties but prefer the personal service we get with Sunset Vacations. Highly recommend them.

Paula Scopelite1I couldn't give it a lower number. We have rented from Sunset Vacations for the last 10 years. First year at Amazing Grace and had good luck. We decided we would like to rent 400 Argyle Point (1809 East Main Street) as the views are beautiful at the end of the street. First few years weren't bad but in the last five years the house has declined. We had met the old owners when we came early one year and they were very nice. Now I'm not sure they are in the picture any more. Believe its their daughter Susanna McKellar who's now the owner. She's the one who sunset vacations tells us doesn't want do some upgrades. She's complicit in the decline of the house. This year alone my husband called about a downspout that was laying on the ground. Sunday vacations never showed up to put it back up so he had his tools and did it himself. He also cleaned out the dryer vent and replaced the flapper that goes on it to keep out birds. He put a deflector back up over the a/c vent in the master bedroom because it was blowing on my head. I got here and cleaned the toilets, vacuumed the floors, which were filthy, mopped the floors and washed the rugs because they were totally gross! Just saying after 10 years we'll be looking for a new rental and rental company for our 3 weeks vacation!

Katherine Anderson2We had 2 families stay in Sunset Beach this year: one through Sunset Properties, and the other through Sunset Vacations. The difference was incredible. The family who went through Properties paid far less for far more: their house was cleaner, newer, and better - everything from appliances to furniture to views; the service was far superior, and the amenities weren't even close. We will switch companies moving forward.

Denelda Gonsalves1Booked home with Sunset Vacations, Maria took my info. She was very hard to understand. I ask about travel insurance was told it covered all illnesses except not “Fear of contracting COVID-19”. My husband became ill & was advised by doctor not to travel. I called less than 24 hours to cancel. Would not return my money & was told to file claim with Arch Insurance. I have ask for copy of policy 6 times, still have not received. They did send a flyer that said illnesses were covered. I filed claim & provided them with “Attending Physicians Statement”. Claim denied due to no hospitalization. Was never told that it was required. BEWARE before you book. Fraudulent info given.

Dorothy Howser1Asked for rental places for bikes and they gave us one place. Bikes were incredibly rusty and seats couldn't be adjusted. We could barely pedal them. Went with another company. I read the other reviews. Seems as though something is amiss.

Teresa Pittman2The house was NOT cleaned, dead bugs in the rooms, dirty Q-tip in the floor, comforter was full of dog hairs, needles in the floor (from holding the bed shirts on), one deck chair was completely broken, sliding screen door was off the rail laying against the wall, you had to run the dryer twice in order to get anything dry and the AC didn't work. I called the office about these issues and they offered to have someone come and clean...hello, it should have been cleaned before we arrived. I called the office again today because a co-worker staying in a place they rented through Sunset Vacations and there was someone else's clothes in a corner and dirty kleenex on the dresser. The excuse they gave me was they couldn't look behind everyone. Well then I suggest they start doing spot checks on houses without the maids knowing about it. I'll never rent from them again

James Husk1Just read reviews as we typically do for our October vacation. We looked at Sunset Properties and thought we'd look at Sunset Vacations. Saw the reviews just now and this company appears to be involved in some fashion with helping a 3rd party embezzled from Another company. I think we will go back to Sunset Properties. I sincerely hope the owner really isn't a silent partner. If there is anything to what is claimed, then he definitely needs to be involved in, otherwise he truly is not a caring owner. I hope it's not true, but that's an issue that needs questions and answers. I don't work with companies that afford 3rd parties the ability to be unscrupoulus.
