Mary is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and responsive to her clients. My clients initially use Mary Hyson at Silverton Mortgage because of her great rates and loan programs. By the time they close on their home they would not use anyone but Mary. Mary is exceptional, professional and friendly. Always willing to explain the process to newbies and talk shop with experienced home buyers.

      Response from the owner

We're glad to hear about your positive experience with Mary. Thank you for your business!

I chose Silverton simply because at the time of contracting, I was informed that there was a $5,000 credit towards closing costs. I initially started the process with a local loan officer. Once it was discovered that I worked for the builder, I was told that I would be assigned a new loan officer. Not only did I not hear from this new officer for 2-3 weeks, but they were out of state. Not having someone local eliminated the ease of access aspect. This led to a lot of miscommunication. Working with the first reassigned officer was absolutely horrid. At one point, the officer asked me about the property taxes for the area. First of all, not my job to pull that information. Secondly, I had to call the original local officer to help this person out on this and several other items. Again, not having someone local caused many issues. The documents I originally submitted were requested a second time. In fact, I had documents such as the divorce decree requested less than seventy-two hours before closing; this was acknowledged as oversight by the loan officer. I had to file a complaint through the original loan officer and request a new officer. Mind you, the first reassigned officer had done several loans in this specific subdivision and had several complaints already made regarding their incompetence and the overall experience. I was then reassigned a second officer. This started off better, but then went down in. My first issue was the fact that somehow being a disabled veteran was overlooked. I was going to be charged $8,000 for a VA fee that doesn’t apply to disabled vets. This was not only calculated in my loan amount, but the person then proceeded to argue this manner with me, to the point that my realtor had to get involved and copy several other people from builder and loan company in an email. My second issue was a result of the first issue, as well as several other miscues. My second reassigned loan officer decided it was a good idea to inform me that they do thousands of loans a year, and that I needed to sign the initial disclosure (which was inaccurate with the VA fee). The realtor and myself had to remind this person that I am the buyer and do not do a thousands of loans a year. The verbiage and process thus needs to be explained and better customer care used. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied and by the time I closed, was regretting the $5,000 incentive at the cost of the headache and incompetence displayed by Silverton’s out of state team. Lastly, it has been brought up several times that it makes no sense for the builder’s employees to have to use a separate loan team, instead of the local team here in Gallatin, TN. I can assure you that the complaints of others and myself could have been resolved if the local agent was used...
