  We decided we needed to take some of the equity out of the house but we didn't want to sell right away. Nor did we simply want to mortgage it and have monthly payments once more. What to do? I stumbled on "Senior Lending" and talked with Gary Guarino about a "reverse mortgage." All I'd heard before that conversation was "don't do it" followed by horror stories. Gary explained the program, I did some research and a month later we closed. Very smooth process, Gary is both very friendly and very professional (although - the New York Yankees? Really?" He's a man of his word and is not a high pressure salesman. If you're thinking of a mortgage - reverse or conventional - talk to him. It costs nothing and you'll learn a lot.
