Customer Service is awesome. Jacqueline was so helpful she went up and beyond. She actually helped me twice. 1 not to make a bad deal and 2 seal the deal on my new 2022 Chevy Truck. So kudos to The SECU Fullerton Branch.

      Response from the owner

Hi Ty Ty, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review for our team! We're so thankful to have you as a member. -Linda

My mom had a wonderful experience at this SECU branch on 4/8/22. She was anxious and stressed due to problems with her car loan, but Candace was extremely helpful and made every effort to ensure my mother's car loan issues were resolved. My mom was also unable to drive due to a recent shoulder surgery, so she decided to walk to this branch. Even though it was a short 30 minute walk, Candace would not let her walk back and instead ordered her an Uber. This kind of above and beyond customer service is rare nowadays, but it truly made a huge impact and made my mom's day :) 10/10 wonderful staff and exceptional customer service. Thank you so much!

      Response from the owner

Good morning Carla. Your review absolutely made our day so much brighter. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. I've forwarded your kudos on to Candace and the Fullerton team as a whole. Have a wonderful day! -Linda

Just not worth the trouble now that everyone has free checking. The online banking sucks, they don’t even have live tellers at the branch and today they tell me they don’t take savings bonds anymore. I love the idea of supporting a local bank, but what’s the point when I have to talk to a teller from god knows where through a webcam. I’ve been working on transferring my banking needs to a commercial bank as SECU continues to go downhill, and I don’t plan on looking back. Update: I have moved all of my accounts to M&T. Despite being a “big bank”, there is always a friendly teller behind the counter or at the drive thru.

      Response from the owner

Hi John, I'm so sorry to hear that you're not currently happy with us. I can tell you that all of our tellers that you speak with through our Interactive Teller Machines are based in Maryland - most are in Linthicum Heights, but several are spread throughout the state. We do not outsource this. I would love for the chance to have someone from our team speak with you directly to see if there's anything we can do. We are a local business, and we love serving Marylanders like you. If you're open to that, please send me an email at secucommunications (at) secumd (dot) com. -Linda

Yesterday I called to make a mortgage payment over the phone. The woman said no payments are taken over the phone from external accounts. She told me my option was to mail it in and if it did not get there on time I would be charged late fees. My mom has a medical condition, she had to drive to a bank to deposit the check to my SECU account so I can make the transfer online. There was a person sick coughing in there. My mom had not been out since all this started. If my mother caught something I will be suing you all. I am so disgusted by the lack of empathy from the woman over the phone. Why can't I make a payment over the phone? Shouldn't you guys figure out a way to make it happen? Is your money I am giving you back. Will my mother have to keep driving every month to deposit a check to my account? I expect to hear back.

      Response from the owner

Hi Madelin, please forgive the delay in responding. Google turned off the ability to reply to reviews for a while due to COVID-19. I'm so sorry again that you had this experience. I know we also spoke via Facebook and via the phone, so I'm hoping we were able to assist. If you have anything else that I can assist you with, please don't hesitate to send an email to secucommunications (at) secumd (dot) com. -Linda

I have never in my life dealt with such an unprofessional establishment. I financed my car through them and it was a mistake. They attached a 3rd party insurance to my car without even bothering to see if I had insurance already. So basically every month i was making payments they were putting it towards this 3rd party insurance. This resulted in my car being repoed by Secu due to "non payment". I was also responsible for the towing fees of $700. Nobody would work with me even though they had proof of insurance from day 1 of purchase. I then wanted to pay off my car and the representative told me i need to wait until my car payment is 14-17 days past due! In order to collect more interest and late payments! They are out to rob people. You have been warned. Stay away from this place

      Response from the owner

Hi Michelle, first of all, please forgive the delay in replying. Google turned off replies in mid-March due to COVID-19. I'm so sorry you had this experience with your car loan. That's not how we want our members to feel. I'd love the chance to talk to you to find out more about what happened and to get your feedback. If you'd be open to talking, please drop us an email to secucommunications (at) secumd (dot) com. -Linda

Not customer friendly. Use another financial institution if at all possible. The new teller system is horrible. Just not personalized anymore. The person on the other end of the phone is not even in the bank but at a totally different location. The new teller system does not carry 50's or 10's. What bank does that? Seriously looking for a new financial institution.

      Response from the owner

Teresa, I want you to know that we hear you. We are sorry to hear that you are having a bad experience and would like to help straighten out any errors. Please email me your contact information at [email protected] so we can make things right. Thank you so much for being a member - you are appreciated.

Usually don't have problems. However the bill pay system needs more options and more experienced customer service reps. The system did not have my mortgage lender in the system so I set up a new bill pay and the only options you can select is whether it is a checking or savings account for the recipient. I called the bill pay svc line and they told me select checking that as long as the acct# and rout# are correct it will go through. That was not the case my mortgage bank declined it because it was not coded as a mortgage acct# then I had to wait 5 days to get the money back into my acct which could have been a bad thing since I still had to pay my mortgage on time. I also dont appreciate the threat my card will be deactivated since I didn't get a new card i can only go to the branch or wait for another to be sent...

      Response from the owner

Hi Fawn, we're so sorry to hear that you had issues with our bill pay system and contact center. Hopefully they were able to provide you resolution moving forward, but if not please let us know, and we will be happy to help. And we apologize if our email appeared that way-- our vendor was deactivating the old cards, and we had been sure to send several messages alerting our members prior to that day. Please make sure your address is updated on our system to receive your new card! Thank you for your feedback.

Opened up an account on Saturday with the first check my husband made in 6 months. We needed it for travel to see family on Thanksgiving. It was a school system check and they still won't clear it in time for us to travel. Now we will be spending Thanksgiving alone for the first time in our lives. I have never hated a bank more. Thank you State Employees Credit Union for ruining the holidays. Had someone told me we would not be able to access the money I would have deposited it in my old account so we would have access to pay our bills. Late payments on bills and no family Thanksgiving. You are worse than the big banks.
