  Honestly we have had great experiences in the past, but this time it was terrible. My mother came in attempting to get a car loan since she’s interested in buying a new car. We came in know they would run her social to see her credit, but they ran it without at least verbally telling her “we will run your social to see your credit”. On top of that they did not bother giving her any information regarding the car loan and how it worked they just started the application. Overall the man working at the very end left side was rude and not helpful. We expected better service and were left completely disappointed.

  Don't bother going here!! I've been in three times attempting to start a checking acct for me and a youth savers for my child. Everytime I've waited 40+ mins to be 'helped' and each time they have a different list of things they need from me. I came in with everything I was told I needed yet there was something new each time. The employees are rude and clearly no one actually knows what customers should be bringing in. I'll take my business to a bank that has their act together thanks anyways.

  Absolutely horrible bank. Customer service is offensively bad. Good luck trying to do anything with the loan department as workers will be slow to reply to you and even slower to process paperwork/requests. And even then, they will not due their due diligence and will give you outright wrong information. Avoid having to work with Melissa Tolentino, a loan agent, at all costs. Her manager, David, is equally unhelpful as he is more interested in making excuses for incompetency than actually proposing solutions. Worst customer service I’ve ever had from any type of business. Do yourself a favor and take your money elsewhere.

  My mother applied for a line of credit and was misguided in her application and so the line of credit was rejected out of hand, with no hope of correcting the application. This means that my mother must now likely sell her house. The manager to whom I complained promised that he would get back to me about the screw-up and so far has yet to call as he promised. As well, if one is not Spanish speaking, one should choose wisely the employee with whom one works. This place is the Flagship office and a total joke. I am amazed at their unprofessional behavior and how much they have screwed up. We will be taking our business else where. DO NOT JOIN THIS BANK

  This is the worst bank that has ever existed. I am not joking here. I have NEVER in my life in any situation received such incompetent service. I have A LOT of money at this branch. I have had to fight to receive any service. I will sadly have to pull out all of my money from SMCU because I simply am unable to receive basic services. #shameful

  they deserve less then one star after they allowed the person I'm in a co-sign with to walk in and claim I signed papers to remove myself as a co-signer even though I’m at at school three hours away. Terrible terrible terrible and then they will proceed to tell you to work it out with the person when they are the ones that clearly messed up and accepting a forged signature.

  Terrible customer service. You walk in and sign in, no one tells you where to go or do. Lack of tellers. They have over 5+ people waiting in the lobby and no one offers assistance. No public restroom for guests, so you know they don’t want you there.

  Thank you SMCU, first of all thanks a lot to Geraldine, she was always available when I needed the help even during covid I'm getting prompt responses and being able to handle all requests I had. And thanks smcu, the rates I was getting were the lowest in the area.

  i been with san mateo credit union for 5 years all my family members have loan through san mateo when to do automatic payment i encountered one of the most rudest person ever on the loan department name adrian came in i ask nicely if i can see a loan representative and they asked me if i have a appointment i didn’t you have to set up a appointment i waited 30 mins when most of the loan representatives were on they phone with no customers in front of them when i came to talking to adrian he received me with a horrible attitude at the end i couldn’t accomplish anything with him so i left to another credit union If they ask for your social to find you loan don’t give it to them they will run your credit without you knowing horrible experience

  I will never go back to this place again. Geraldine Valdez has horrible customer service, no greeting no smiling, and not helpful at all. I ended up walking away with no answers they look at you like they’re doing you a favor. This isn’t the first time either please fix your customer service!!!
