Provident Credit Union San Francisco (Federal Building Community Branch) Reviews

Nicholas Sky1Just joined a couple weeks ago and my card was frozen due to "unusual activity" because I was making lots of purchases to prepare for a camping trip. I spent 4 hours and 30 minutes on the phone talking to at least 9 different people including supervisors. 4 times the hold on my card was removed, and every single time the hold came back. No matter who I spoke to, I could not get access to my own money so I just gave up. I couldn't even order comfort food. This is the most frustrating, unpleasant experience I have ever had with any financial institution in my entire life.
Response from the ownerVery sorry to hear about your experience. I will research your issue and contact you when resolved.

Jim Oakley5I've been a member of Provident since graduating from college about 25 years ago. Their customer service is always excellent, particularly in their branches. I also take advantage of their super reward checking and I'm excited to try their new cash back Visa card with no annual fee. I keep finding new reasons to love Provident!

Lloyd Affholter2Why would a company, Provident C.U. S.F., have me go through security that has me remove my, belt and shoes, empty my pockets, etc, just to use their ATM to make a no-surcharge deposit? This is a horrible location. I've been trying to make Provident work for me for months now, frustration at every turn. I think I made a mistake in signing up with them. Someone please tell me where I can make a deposit near the Mission/Castro area. I can agree with the good customer service I received inside at the counter.

Joe Rowe2I have been a customer with them in SF since 2004. I had free checking. Then I moved away and used the account remotely. They switched me to a fee based account and it took years to resolve it. Eventually the fees were refunded. I closed my account. I'm happy about the happy ending but I would not suggest them to a friend.

Brian Heglar1Worst service ever. The online banking is always a problem. Their website is constantly a problem. The customer service isn't 24 hrs and when we have talked to them they haven't been helpful. There is no good deal here.
