Chloe S1Absolutely horrible, unorganized, unethical, stay away! Not only did they not protect me financially as student (part of their marketing is they are good for UO student banking i.e. young bankers). 1) Was part of a fake check sublet scam, (I know I was young naive college student financially desperate for a sublet) it was a seriously twisted scam that was not obvious in anyway due to me talking to a real human "student" for over a month. The check took them 10 DAYS to clear before informing me it was fake and there was nothing they could do about it so now I am paying off over a grand in theft. I thought this bank would have better fraud protection and do a better job at helping stop fake checks in a timely fashion considering their clientele is full of young naïve students. 2) Was unable to get a an extended student loan without a cosigner. I could not due to the fact that my parents are homeless, thus why I needed financial aid to stay at UO and ran out. So who are these loans for? Rich people? Why would they even need them? 3) They have reported numerous late payments on my credit cards to the credit bureaus when they have been automatically transferred for two years successfully. I called the credit department to see what happened and after waiting for 15 minutes on hold found it WAS a mistake on their end, yet they STILL have not corrected it and it was reported on my credit report and is the only bad info on there hindering screenings for important things like HOUSING. GET IT TOGETHER OCCU I HIGHLY recommend NO ONE banks there. Period. They are actually worse than US Bank and other horrible for profit banks.

Thomas Emmons1I have been banking with OCCU for decades. They have absolutely gone completely downhill. As I write this review, I'm sitting on hold TRYING to make a credit card payment through telephone call. They have redesigned their cardservices website such that it's literally impossible to make a payment online. This has been the case for several days now. I’ve never worked with a bank that didn’t allow for transactions to be made on their website while they were redesigning their website. I contacted the bank through their help/contact us link and here was their response: "We will be adding more card management functionality over the coming days, such as payments, alerts and many other great features. In the meantime, you can call Cardholder Services to check your balance and make a payment on your OCCU credit card. I have included the phone numbers below." The accounts are also managed by a third-party vender call center that must handle several other banks. It's just a nightmare. The call center folks are like talking to robots, and it can take well over 30 minutes to get through. OCCU MANAGEMENT: If someone from the bank reads this then please consider speaking to your IT dept about devastating it is to prematurely deploy a new platform that does not allow your customers to pay their bills on time. You should have left the other url up until you made sure the new site had the proper functionality. A few other issues I've had with this bank in the last year: -If you card is flagged for fraud they block it as any bank should. The problem here is that they require you to call an 800 number (that third-party call center again) if it’s flagged . This is a major inconvenience when the algorithm mistakenly flags your card and you’re traveling. This has happened to me on 3 different occasions while traveling in the last year! Other banks simply give you an online option to verify a potentially fraudulent charge, usually through a text or an email. OCCU requires you to sit on hold for 20 minutes, talk to a robot, answer a bunch of security questions, get transferred again, wait on hold for another 10-15 min to speak to a “security specialist”, go through another set of security questions and then get someone to finally resolve the issue after going through the last 10-15 transaction. It’s ridiculous. OCCU MANAGEMENT: If someone from the bank reads this then please look into what other banks like Citi or Chase do when a charge gets flagged as being potentially fraudulent. The bank texts AND emails their customer and lets them know about the potentially fraudulent charge. These banks give their customers options to resolve the potentially fraudulent charges without calling an 800 number and reaching a third-party call center. -It’s impossible to get someone local to speak with regarding their "NICE" card. The bank routes you to an operator that is clearly not affiliated with the actual credit union. Again, the third-party call center. Other reviews are correct is their assessment that their customer service is just absolutely awful. It didn’t used to be this bad, but someone decided that farming out everything to a third-party call center was best for the bank. I really hope OCCU reads this and considers making some serious changes.

Matt A.2I would not recommend for anyone who cares about their financial well-being. Last week they decided to transfer all their credit card systems. Suddenly they decided to do an audit saw it fit to close my credit card due to no recent purchases. No heads up, no warning and no notice. And just like that, my oldest credit line disappeared. I called, they told me what they did and said they can't fix it. Now, the implication here is that this is going to hurt my credit score severely. It's important to keep healthy lines of credits open to increase your average age of accounts which is a significant factor in your credit score calculation. I don't even want credit, but I have to keep lines open because that's how the system is setup. Without a good credit score and a credit history you basically can't qualify for any good rates when buying a car or a house or even qualify for most financial milestones. I understand banks have the right to close credit cards for any reason, including people not using them for a while. But that's just it, OCCU doesn't market themselves as a bank do they? When I was a young college student they sold themselves as the good guys of banking. They kept pushing it all over the place. "We lookout for you" they said. Funny way to lookout for someone by slamming their credit score to the ground. I trusted you, OCCU. You know how HARD it is to work against the credit score system for years in order to foster good credit. OCCU ya'll aren't looking out for anyone. Any slight communication would have sufficed and you didn't even try before doing something so sudden, unnecessary and destructive to years of progress. It's such a shame that so many young people fall for your marketing lies. The only reason the rating isn't any lower is because some of your employees are good people. They care and they want to help. Too bad a few genuine people can't fix a broken organization. If you're a young college student looking for somewhere to start your credit journey, run. This ain't it. It's not any better than any bank. In fact, it's exactly like any big bank except with worse tech that's constantly behind. Oh and their credit card rewards? Abysmal compared to most cards out there. Not worth getting, not worth using and pointless to try to keep. With regret, No longer a customer.

Jack Smith1Will cancel my account tomorrow. I parked here after hours (from 10pm till 1am) and they left a sticker on my car window (about not parking there) leaving bunch of residue on my car. Why do these guys care if someone is parking in their space after hours? You just lost a customer because of it. I will come by tomorrow morning and complain, if I can’t get all the adhesive off my car

Shaun Gates1They keep making it harder and harder to go to the bank and access funds. They want to remodel and close due to weather. Grow up. Open the bank. It's our money. We don't care what the building looks like. We just want our money. They make it very hard to even enter the building period.
Response from the ownerHi Shaun, we hear you. We understand that adjusting branch hours can be a strain on our members. But, the safety of our community is a top priority at OCCU. With so much snow and ice, it just wasn't safe for our employees or members to be on the roads until things cleared up a bit and the snow plows had time to work. When things like this happen - which fortunately isn't very often - we have multiple other ways members can do their banking. You can always access your funds via an ATM and MyOCCU Online & Mobile and our phone representatives are at the ready.

Michael Garcia1Very unprofessional, been member for yrs went in for information and application for refinance or other options , waited hrs was told that the over writer took lunch and they Would call me after never got call bk ,seemed lil dishonest unprofessional lot of young possibly inexperienced workers there. My professional opinion. Even call bk would been courtesy. After I pay my account will most likely never return to establishment.
Response from the ownerHi Michael, I'm so sorry to hear this was your experience with us. This is not how we want our members to feel! We'll pass this along to our team to look into and to create better member experiences with us in the future. Thank you for sharing this feedback.

Thunder Wright1Awful customer service and hold times are outrageous. I just moved here and have been trying to bank here but I’m done being put on hold and being constantly transferred. This whole process has been nothing but a waste of time.

Tarhiel T5Thier drive through ATM had been having problems and apparently they had thought they had fixed it but it still didn't work and took my card. After a few minutes of trying to get my card back to no avail one of the employees came out and kindly explained the situation and offered to take me inside and get a new card made for me. She was very sympathetic and attentive throughout the process and made the whole experience that normally would have been irritating both pleasant and quick. They got me in and out in around 20 minutes. Thanks so much for being rock stars, you really made it obvious you care. You guys have some truly golden employees! :) This is why I will always use OCCU!

Andelia Maddock5They were very kind and helpful when I mentioned the multiple reasons I was in and didn't rush me in helping to take care of getting my new debit card after my other was lost. They print it in building.

joshua mckay1Terrible "bank" if you can even call it that. These guys are a joke, find a better lender. Try a payday loan place before you consider getting a loan from these guys. Absolute garbage.
