I needed to cancel an existing reservation, which I was inside the cancellation window with a 100% refund. I spoke with Debbie to assist me with this and she was extremely rude. She basically told me I was causing “more work” to cancel my reservation and she offered no assistance. She told me “I’m not trying to be mean” and then laughed. Very poor customer service.

Hospitality is very poor, especially if something isn’t right or as advertised with the property. First of all, we arrived after dark and this was our first trip to Snowshoe ( which they knew our arrival time via email correspondence) . We were staying in the Silver Creek area. She gave us verbal directions and a map which was poorly designed. We couldn’t see any of the signs well driving up and got turned around sever times. Upon finally arriving at the house, there weren’t any outside lights on and you couldn’t see anything! When we found our rental, we had been given the wrong set of keys! Drove back down the mountain back to the realty to get the proper keys. They said they had two new people working with them and apologized. They offered to comp us a meal for a party of 7. That was nice and we understand mistakes happen. We felt we should’ve had an escort to the rental given the conditions, complete darkness, newness to the area and a cost of $10,000 for 8 days! She explained that there was an elevator key as well. When we arrived back to the rental (almost an hour from original check in now) we can’t get the key to work to the elevator ( it’s four floors!) and we have lots of stuff for a weeks stay and 7 people. Called immediately and the office person said they would inform the manager. We lugged everything up the stairs as she never arrived. We went back to the realty office the next day and was told there wasn’t a key to the elevator after all. A maintenance man arrived exactly 24 hours after our arrival to tell us “ you’re right, the elevator doesn’t work”. He was however, able to fix the fireplace, as there wasn’t a pilot light and it would not turn on. So, that was nice. We stayed the remainder of our stay without a working elevator and the main living area and ski in/ ski out accommodations were in the top floor. It kinda got old lugging stuff up and down as we needed. We left a day early and upon checkout, they just stated it was a holiday and there was no one available to repair the elevator. No comped meal, and no reimbursement of ANY of the $10,000 we paid up front a month ahead of time!!! We are still going to pursue some type of compensation and contact the Better Business Bureau. We would have NEVER rented the property without a working elevator!! If a company is going to advertise a high end property such as the one we rented at SUNRISE at Silver Creek #3 , wouldn’t you ensure everything is in working order and ready upon arrival of its occupants??? Take our advice and use a different realty company, because Mountain Vally Realty is NOT about service or hospitality, just driven by their own personal gain and interests.

      Response from the owner

Hi, There was some confusion upon your arrival and we did want to fix that for you. Housekeeping had used the elevator and we were not aware of any problems upon your arrival. After you departure housekeeping did have some intermittent problems which we have contacted the elevator company in Virginia and they are coming to look at the possible problem. We would have bought you all dinner for sure, would never say that without following through. Please have a great year and keep us in mind for future vacations at Snowshoe.

Wabasso Unit 11 review Pros - The condo is within walking distance from the village and grocery store. It's well furnished, has a warm welcoming atmosphere, kitchen full of appliances. It has a little dryer room where you can dry all your cloth and gear. Automatic fireplace, many televisions. Cons- The bedroom on the 2nd floor is not private and it is not listed in the description. I think this is major misleading in the listing. The mattresses are old and not firm at all. Many light bulbs were burned out. The door locks to the 2nd-floor bathroom and 1st-floor bedroom were not working as well. Lights on the decorative pine tree on the 2nd floor were burned out. The snow wasn't removed from the balcony upon our arrival. The host never gave us a courtesy call to make sure we are doing fine or offered any extra toilet paper or anything. For the price they charge per night it could be a little better. Overall it is a great condo but maintenance and management have a big room for improvement. I would recommend this place and will stay again but next time I will be very demanding and calling the office right away.

I DID NOT like how they kept $200 of my money and cancelled my trip without telling me. Thank goodness I called that morning or I would not have known. I am still trying to get my money back by disputing it through my bank but I am not having any luck because the money that they did give back, they put it all on my card but I split the payment with someone else.... And they didn't put any money back on their card... When I called and asked them if they could fix it, they simply said no and offered no more assistance. Our friends booked through the resort nearby and were able to get a full refund for their room, but mountain valley realty won't work with you on getting a refund. We were cancelling due to the rain and the slopes being closed. Their original agreement said nothing about the weather. The agreement they sent after I asked for my refund said "we are not responsible for weather changes." OH and I NEVER signed ANY agreements... Not even when I booked the place because I did not know how to do an electronic signature.. And they STILL took my money.

The ladies at Mountain Valley Realty are incredible! They showed me and my family incredible hospitality. I had a last minute request and the entire staff was knowledgeable, personable and extremely accommodating. These folks are a must in the Snowshoe area. Our family can't wait to see them again. Highly recommend this company!

We booked with them and stayed in Feb 2016. The cabin was nice, but had some issues. The key did not work for the first people, so they moved us there. The dishwasher did not work because of the extreme cold and the heat did not work on the last night we stayed there. I am an understanding person and realize it was very cold (high of 1 degree) while we were there, but to force us to sleep in a place with no heat and then we get blamed for the heat not working. They were fine until something went wrong and then all they do is blame you. I would not recommend renting with this company. This company rates very poorly for customer service if something happens.

We have been visiting Snowshoe Mountain for the last six years and always book our accommodations through Mountain Valley Realty specifically through Britney, And have always been thrilled upon arrival! We have stayed in a more rural cabin, in a house near the base of the mountain and then several condos at the top of the mountain with the ski in/ski out option. Our lodging has always been clean and well prepared with everything we needed. Mountain Valley Realty is awesome to work with and Britney knows the Snowshoe area so well, and is able to make recommendations for great places to eat and other awesome family-friendly activities! we look forward to returning again soon!

We stayed at a Mountain Crest property located on Snowshoe mountain. We went through Mountain Valley Properties and had no issues with reservations. My husband made the reservation, so of course he didn't know we had to pick up our keys at the Mountain Valley Property building at the bottom of the mountain, he thought we checked in at the Top of the World. Anyway, we get to the Top of the World after midnight, and they tell us they don't have the keys. Luckily when I got to the bottom of the mountain at 1am, I noticed that they left the keys in a mailbox for us. Keep in mind that the fog on the mountain was terrible last weekend and I was driving about 5 mph, so everything took so much longer than it had to. So I get the key and pick up my husband from the Top of the World and we searched for Mountain Crest. By the time we get in it is 2:30am. Our two friends were there waiting for us outside. So we start loading our stuff in, try to make a fire, and unfold the pull out bed. Next thing you know, someone called "security" on us! We were being too loud. Well, excuse me, we just had the worst drive ever and didn't mean to get in at 2:30am. So I'm up at 7am taking a shower and getting ready, and at 7:30 MOUNTAIN VALLEY PROPERTIES calls us to tell us they got a complaint that we were being too loud last night. The woman was soooooo rude and made me feel like a criminal. She said she was going to call the police and come up there herself with the police and have us removed. For what?!?! She said she has been in the business for 25 years, blah, blah, blah. That doesn't excuse her for being a b****. I would think that with that many years of being in property management, she would have better customer service skills. She needs to take classes on anger management or something. She wasn't concerned why we were being loud. Unpacking, starting a fire, and setting up the pull out bed is a little loud at 2am. She demanded that we apologize to everyone around us or we would be removed. Uh, okay, sure. I did apologize to the people staying right next to us and they looked at me like I was an idiot, they said they didn't hear us. Oh, and the phone didn't work for outgoing calls!
