Amy Provost1This used to be an incredible credit union. Customer service is gone. Long waits for loans. Long waits to speak with someone. To me it’s no longer better and possible worse than any other bank chain.
Response from the ownerHi Amy - We are so incredibly sorry to hear about the experience you had at Mill City. As a member-owned cooperative, that is not the member experience we promise to deliver. Can you send us additional details to [email protected]? We would like to do everything we can to make this right.

Ben Anderson1Edit: everything about their online experience is utmost trash. I can't recommend this bank for any reason because of this. I had a fantastic experience with Jamie setting up an auto loan. But the online services here just don't work. The team worked hard to help me, for which I'm thankful. But if you enjoy banking online, this is not the place for you.
Response from the ownerHi Ben - Thanks for sharing your experience. Although we're super excited to hear you had a great experience working with Jamie, please know we take all feedback seriously - including ways we can improve. Can you send us additional information about your account experience to [email protected]?

Bri DJ3**Update: My husband who is a joint owner of the account with me called about our issues regarding the closure of our account. The team was sincerely apologetic and removed the overdraft fee which was very considerate and helped him to close the account promptly. Though my experience with the service had been frustrating, obviously my husband's wasn't the same so I wanted to edit my review to reflect this. I can agree with many others that Mill City was a great credit union before merging with City and County. The online banking became a nightmare, with requests to change passwords on almost a monthly basis. I appreciate security, but it was excessive. We decided to change credit unions because the service just wasn't the same. I came into the branch twice to close my account. I withdrew funds, and they assured me the account would be closed at the end of the business day. However, they in fact did not close my account, causing an overdraft which posted a fee from an auto-payment I hadn't yet changed over to my new banking. It felt deceptive to claim you are closing an account to then not follow through, putting the burden on me as a customer. Had I not checked, who knows how many late payments would have been posted and how much money they would be making off of my "closed" account. When I called to remedy it, they said they wouldn't be able to do anything unless I came into the branch in person which was so frustrating.
Response from the ownerHi Bri - we're extremely sorry to hear that you didn't have the best experience. As we merge with City & County Credit Union, delivering the best member experience has and will always continue to be our top priority. We take all feedback seriously and want to make this right. We use all feedback to train our staff and make improvements. Can you send us an email at [email protected] with contact information so we can reach out to you directly? Again - we're terribly sorry this happened.

Frank Willkie5Fantastic Customer Service! I stop into the location on Wayz. Blvd for a Confidential Reason, I won’t get into why! Except I will say that I was able to speak with a person directly behind me Immediately! I warmly appreciated your service. And your location being called off the beaten path is perfect for me. As Cretan types will disagree. When i was a kid in the mid 60s to 72, your location nick of the woods was rather different, until I 394 came along 35 yrs ago. Read the sign. “MILL CITY - CITY COUNTY CREDIT UNION” Credit Unions have been around for 90 yrs! CUs got stated in the 30’s “depression era” And that’s the point! CUs are NOT Banks!

Trevor Ash2I primarily bank with Navy Federal Credit Union because I prefer their credit products. I did use Mill City for quite awhile and it was great when I did my banking there. I had one payment that comes out of the account that is next to impossible to change over, so I kept my checking open for this payment to come out. It randomly posts on different days, so sometimes my ACH transfer doesn't go through before the payment. That is fine, I was okay paying the $30 NSF fee for my lack of being proactive. I always got money into the account - no worries. I have always been super happy with the service, and have always felt comfortable recommending people to this credit union if they were looking for a local bank. City & County Credit Union took over not long ago and that was the end of the excellent service. The first month my account had the negative balance because the payment, I was harassed via phone and mail about the balance. City & County decided not only would they charge the NSF overdraft fee, but in an attempt to bring in more revenue, they decided to start charging a DAILY overdraft fee. Every bank in the past that I have experience has had this blow up in their face really quick. It is an attempt to pray on peoples lack of money management skills for their own gain. Not only that, I wanted to call and inquire about the incessant fees before I just went ahead and paid them the first time. Time slipped away from me between my two jobs and masters program, and it got to close to the 28 day deadline they give you before they close your account. I randomly called on a whim one afternoon, not even realizing it was this close, and got a return call back from the collections lady, whom I believe is named Carol. She was impolite and unapologetic. I tried to inquire around their reasons for the daily fees, in which she had no answer besides "it was written into the terms when City & County took over." She let me know that if my payment wasn't received by morning, I would have my checking closed and reported to Chex Systems. I had sent an ACH transfer that morning just to clear it up while waiting to hear from them, but she had let me know that even with the receipt and proof of funds transfer, if the payment wasn't received by the morning of the next day, she would proceed to close my account. She was very threatening and quite rude on the phone. Not the service I would expect from Mill City in the least bit. Fast forward one more month, I try to be more proactive this time and initiate my payment earlier. It arrived to them 1 day after, so they slapped on the one time charge, and started accruing the daily charges. The letters and phone calls started yet again. I can admit my shortcomings. I should be more proactive with my funds transfer. I am more than happy to pay whatever fees are associated with my not being timely, but the service I received in regards to this as soon as Mill City switched over is not okay. I have been a customer for many years, and have had this happen several times before and NEVER had an issue. I paid my fee, took my punishment, and moved on. But to be threatened, harassed via phone and US Mail - this is inexcusable. Credit Unions are suppose to be about the community, and they are suppose to be there to do GOOD. The tactics they are suddenly using under City & County Credit Union are not conducive to what a credit union stands for, especially their desperate attempts at praying on peoples money mismanagement for their own financial gain. How sad. I have already refinanced the car loan I've had with them for the last 6 months and now I will gladly take the time to sit on the phone for 45 minutes to move the last payment over from them, so I am able to rid myself of this credit union. Mill City was a phenomenal bank, filled with amazing employees, who took the time to care about each persons individual situation and to try their best to help them succeed. But that is not what City & County is about at all.

William Mefford5I worked with Marissia Triemert on financing a motorcycle purchase. From start to finish she was simply outstanding! Professional, yet friendly, she guided me thru the process exceeding my expectations and delivering quality service in a matter that brings my wife and I back time and time again. As a side note, she helped us with vehicle financing a couple years ago with the same great attitude and high-level customer service. Thank you!
Response from the ownerThanks for sharing your experience, William! We LOVE Marissia and are so lucky to have her on our team. She truly represents what our credit union stands for. Hope you're enjoying the new ride!

Lynn Petersen1Applied for a home equity loan. It required a lot of follow-up phone calls to cover the same information repeatedly. Disclosure forms with longer turnaround times were not sent in a timely manner, delaying the loan timing. Not happy with the experience, but continued with CCCU because I didn't want to lose the time starting over somewhere else.
Response from the ownerHi Lynn - we're extremely sorry that you weren't satisfied with your home equity loan experience. We take all feedback seriously and use it to improve our experience going forward. If you have any other details you would like to share, please send us an email at [email protected].
