I wish I could give them no stars!! Worst established I've dealt with since getting credit 30 years ago! They changed their location, but FAILED to update there monthly statements with the new remit to address. Every check we mailed they did not receive and then they wouldn't take a payment over the phone until the loan was past due. If you value your credit score DO NOT USE THIS ESTABLISHMENT FOR BANKING OR LOANS!!! NO ONE WITHIN THE COMPANY HAS A CLUE!!!!!

I’ve had a great experience with MECU of Baltimore until a few days before Christmas of 2017. Someone got my Card information and was able to make a purchase. Of course MECU put a Freeze on my card. Which I had to find out while finishing up my Christmas shopping and having my card Declined twice. I called and went through the last few purchases made with my card. My card had 2 attempts that didn’t go through and the one that did. MECU shut my card off And I was told to contact Card Services to order a new card. That was on December 21, 2017. I called a few days later just to see if my New Bank Card had been mailed out yet. I was told it was mailed out on December 26, 2017. Here it is January 12, 2018 still no Card and no information as to where my card is or when I’ll be receiving it. So clearly MECU and I had a good few years. It’s time to find a new bank. This is so unacceptable and I’m very disappointed in MECU.

      Response from the owner

Hi Debra, we're sorry to hear that your card was used to make unauthorized purchases. With our 24/7 fraud monitoring, if we see unusual transactions, we immediately put a freeze on the card for your protection, contact you to verify recent activity and issue a new card. If you have not received your new card within 2 weeks, it may have been lost in transit. Please contact us so we may review your account further and order a replacement card as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Terrible Credit Union. I've been waiting over two months for a replacement debit card and can't get anyone to do anything about it. I had to wait 10 business's days for a check to clear and I've been a customer for over a year. I'm closing my account at this bank as we speak.

      Response from the owner

Good morning and thank you for reaching out to MECU. I am sincerely sorry for your experience. Please know, that you are always a valued MECU member.

M.E.C.U is the worst for the last 6 or 7 weeks theY have refused to release an account that was set up by an agreement with an insurance company and MECU, This account is a non interest bearing account. What have MECU, done with the interest collected on this money that's been sitting there for years. They refuse to answer any questions.

      Response from the owner

Do not bank here. Nothing but problems from start to finish. Save yourself the frustration. Customer service leaves you on hold. No one can help you once you finally get to talk to someone and they keep transferring you over and over and over.

STAY AWAY, buying a house from a seller who has an account with this bank. Get this people, the sellers father dies, he has been trying for weeks to get a payoff statement without success. Think for a minute a payoff statement. Like somebody wants to pay bank the money he owes it, and trying to find out the total amount. Something as simple as that. Even that they screw up, we have to delay settlement. STAY AWAY from these looser, blacklisted.

I have never received such terrible customer services in my life. The utter unprofessionalism of the staff was extremely disheartening. I was a customer of MECU for almost 10 years until my wallet was stolen and the bank wouldn't let me change any of my account information. Even though I informed them I was afraid my account information was compromised, the only option I was presented was to close my account and reopen another. I took this advice and close my accounts with MECU, but I will be taking my business elsewhere and never dealing with them again.

      Response from the owner

Hi Justin, the security and safety of our members and their accounts is our highest priority. In the unfortunate event of debit card theft, we immediately block/close all affected accounts for your protection. We apologize if the experience was not hassle-free and would like to speak with you further to see how we can earn back your trust. Please contact us at your earliest convenience. Thank you for reaching out.

I just finished talking to a customer service representative by the name of Amber, wish I asked for her last name, and she was rude, and when I would not understand her question, she would laugh and express rudely about me not understanding her question. Ms. Amber was efficient in getting me the information I needed, but her tone and the laughter in between really upset me. I have had past good experiences with Mecu, when I have visited a branch, but over the phone customer service also needs to be good, since most people don't have the time to be going to their branch whenever they have a question. I was thinking of opening another account with Mecu, but I think I'll just try Secu. Mecu needs to polish up its act, especially customer service.

You know when you're so frustrated that all you can do is cry? That's this customer service. Idk who is dropping the ball but it is being DROPPED. Literally every time I call I am told something different and incorrect. The personnel are always friendly and polite though, so woo hoo!
