Dawn Martin2One bad encounter can change what would have been a five star rating - to a two star. I save my change. And when my change jar gets full, I cash them in, and start over. According to info that I found on the web, Howard Bank was the closest place that had a coin-counting machine. So, I figured this would be a good opportunity to check this bank out. It was a day off for me, so I took my change jar to Howard. From the moment I pulled into the parking lot, I immediately loved the look and feel of the place. Nice and cozy. When I stepped inside the bank, I loved it even more. The tellers greeted me immediately. Very nice. When I asked about their coin-counter, one of the tellers, a young man, politely explained that they don't have the counter anymore. He went on to explain that they offer the service of wrapping the coins, or depositing them. He was polite. He was patient. He was professional. What was my issue, then? Well, it was at this time, that another teller - a young woman, whose back was to me, turned around and said - "Are you are member?" To which, I replied, "No, I'm not." Her response was - "We don't do anything for non-members." Wow. Everything about that, was wrong. Firstly, I was not speaking to her. Secondly, the young man was handling the matter quite well. And, I was actually considering taking my coins and maybe using them to open an account there. I had $138.00 worth of coins. The proper way to handle that, would have been to say - "I'm sorry, our services are for our members. May we interest you in discussing some of those services?" THAT'S customer service etiquette. I currently have checking, savings, and credit card accounts with Wells Fargo. I could have possibly been persuaded to begin the 'switch' to Howard Bank. However, I will most likely not go back to Howard Bank. Just because I do not care to deal with that one young lady. Her manner was very off-putting. And, unnecessarily so. Time for some customer services courses .

Warren McCleary1Ever met one of those people who has to have the final word? Just have Rae wait on you. Handed her my deposit with MD License and she asked me to remove my hat because it was Company Policy. I told her that she had my license for clear and positive ID. She told me that was "beside the point"! At that point, I refused and decided to go through the drive up instead where you don't have to undress. While in the drive through another lady waited on me. At the conclusion of making my deposit, I asked the 'nice' woman to write the name of the 'first encounter' on my receipt. Apparently, the 'first encounter' heard my request and immediately got on the mic to personally tell me her name. Remember, she has to have the final word. I asked her as I had the 'nice' lady to write it on the receipt. She walked away without doing it so the 'nice' lady did. I understand Company Policies; I just don't understand the attitude. Been a customer for approx. 15 years and loved my Ladies at Security who called me by name when I came in the door. It's been closed for a year or so. Because of Rae, I will be closing the account once everything has cleared.

allen bonner2So I am not a member of this bank. I work for a company who uses them for their business account. I have always used the Loch Raven Branch, however I now work in the OM area. At most banks your state ID, which is good enough for the justice system, is sufficient. At the Loch Raven branch they require some sort of other identification, I use my debit card from my bank. I don't carry my credit card most days as it usually is not necessary. Well going into this branch they wouldn't accept my debit card as an acceptable form thus I was not able to cash my check. Everywhere else it is sufficient, and I told her the situation, she couldn't make it happen. My bank is not in the Owings Mills area and I won't make it before they close, so I will not have that cash available for the weekend. Needless to say these people ruined my weekend. Inevitably in banking it is up to the branch manager, whom at most banks would accept the situation. I hope each and every one of them has a terrible weekend and they miss their bus home. Chanel Goode1My fiancé and I set up a business account at Glen Burnie location a couple of years ago and we love their service. Opon moving to Owings mills we've been subject to utilizing the Painters Mills branch where management and staff are never helpful, friendly, or approachable.

Douglas KuddlKat3Removing stars and closing my account after my checking account was changed to one that charges a $7 monthly fee. Yes, there are ways to still have a checking account with no service charges and I qualified, but that was their decision to change it with little notice so this is mine. Removing more stars as mailing the notice to close my account (as requested) has been ignored and another monthly fee was charged. And finally, adding some stars back since speaking with Vonnetta who reversed the fee and closed my account by simply phone and e-mail.
