  Hollins Associates has been patient and flexible with me, as a new business owner I have needed a lot of explaining and special attention. I've felt connected and appreciated by the staff at Hollins. They never mind when I bring my children in with me and always make time to assist me- even when I am experiencing an "accounting emergency" they stop what they are doing to help.   Hollins Associates is very attentive to their clients as well as very professional. We started a small business and everyone in the office was so pleasant to deal with, even while bombarding them with questions on how to set up all our accounts in QuickBooks (first time ever doing this and oh so many phone calls & emails). Any and all of our questions were answered in a timely manner regarding both our personal and business needs. Highly recommend Hollins Associates!!

  First, let me start by saying that the best part about our experience with this firm is that we learned who NOT to use. From the very beginning we should have seen the red flags. We sat down with the owner/CPA Angela Hollins, and Karen, who I assume is just an underling to Angela. After that meeting, my husband would have no more contact with Angela at all. My husband chose to use Hollins associates for his personal tax return, as well as for his grandfathers personal return, and the estate return. (His grandfather passed away in 2014, and my husband is the executor of the estate). From the very beginning there were problems. They mailed a letter to the NCDOR (Grandfather was NC resident) seeking to establish my Husband as fiduciary for the tax filing, and it was returned to us because they failed to gather all necessary information. For my husbands personal return, he requested that Hollins associates not run his debit card without notifying him first so funds could be moved between accounts. They failed to do that, and ran it anyways. Not only was his account overdrawn because of this error, they sent the SAME amount to the IRS and NCDOR. They did, however, offer to cover any incurred charges from the bank. They filed an extension for his grandfathers return and upon mailing us the documents to sign and send (we now live back in NC) Karen failed to mail all the required documents to be sent to the IRS. My husband paid close to $1200 for the two personal returns and after all the issues, decided to cancel them filing the estate return which cannot be filed until 2016. Karen returned all the documents for the return and was actually quite gracious at the request. About a week later he received an email with an invoice requesting payment in the amount of $406 for services rendered for the estate filing, which, again, was not filed. The invoice contained no line items showing why the money was owed. When my husband called and spoke with Chris about the issue, she stated she would speak to Angela (the head honcho) and get back to him. When she emailed him the next day, Chris said that Angela stated that they deserved to be paid for work performed. As stated above, the document that they sent to the NCDOR that was returned, and they claimed that my husband owed them $406 dollars for "prep work". The total original quote was $600 for filing the return. When my husband argued with Chris over the charge, she stated that it was no problem for them to send it to collections. My husband demanded that they provide a detailed invoice showing the work performed, and that they send it by the end of that week. He was told that Karen was in meetings and would not have the time to gather the requested information. Again, my husband pressed and said that was unacceptable. He was told that it was beyond Chris's control and it would be the following week before they could get the invoice to him. Conveniently, the next day he received an invoice showing that he only owed $4.16 for postage and that "as he had suggested", there was an error in their work. No surprise there. Nothing but errors from the beginning. I'm actually quite surprised there aren't any other reviews of this place. Bottom line: This place is an unprofessional joke. I recommend that anyone considering using Hollins' Associates take their business elsewhere. We'd rather go to H&R Block before going anywhere near this business.

While mistakes may be made from time to time, we always extend to our employees the respect they deserve as human beings. We respectfully request that you do the same. Regarding your particular experience, it is unfortunate that, per your review comments, you avoided speaking with the firm principal from the outset. Although we certainly empower employees to carry out their jobs, the firm principal is very sensitive to the experience of each client. Had you brought your concerns to her as soon as they became evident, there would have been a much more positive outcome. Nonetheless, we are sorry that you were unable to have the excellent experience shared by the vast majority of our awesome clients. We wish the best for you, and it is our sincere hope that we can all learn from this experience and emerge the better for it.

  We had some email confusion but Dale got in touch really quicky and it has been cleared up. I am really grateful. He tried to offer me a gift to compensate me for the fright I got but was happy to donate to 'SERVE' instead. What a lovely man. My massive apologies from the other side of the pond.   Fraudulent practice. Billed me for services that I never asked for and services that were never presented to me. Shocked that they would act so unprofessionally. Only cared about getting money. Hated the experience. Advise you to go elsewhere.

  We hold each of our clients in the highest regard, and have processes in place to ensure that we maintain a clean practice and that clients are always billed appropriately. Our engagement agreements clearly explain our billing practices in advance of any client work. Please accept our sincere apologies for not meeting your expectations. In lieu of this anonymous review, we hope that you will contact us at your earliest convenience so that we may address your concerns. Also, we would encourage all of our clients to remain mindful of charges against your accounts from all vendors and service providers, and to immediately dispute all unauthorized charges, regardless the amount. Finally, as you can see from other reviews and responses, we acknowledge that sometime problems do occur. In those cases, we will work with you, correct the problem, and ensure that you satisfied to the best of our ability.
