Hibernia Bank Reviews

William Coskrey5As a former employee and account holder in a local bank that was acquired by a gigantic corporation, I fled the new reality of faceless anonymity in a desperate search for the old-fashioned personal service I once enjoyed there. Fortunately for me, In August, 2010, in the process of purchasing a home, I applied for a mortgage with what was then Hibernia Homestead. And I’m so glad I did, because in the intervening 11 years, I have enjoyed the best imaginable customer service from the officers and employees of what is now Hibernia Bank. Professional, efficient, friendly! A big shout out and a sincere thank you, especially to the employees of the Main Branch on Carondelet Street!

Emma Bedard1Canceling my account here was the best choice I've ever made. I did a ton of research before choosing what bank to use, and Hibernia Bank completely misrepresents everything about how they do business. The last straw happened this weekend. The last week of March I received my stimulus check and deposited it, and on Thursday April 1st I went online to make some purchases. The first two purchases I made were from businesses I have shopped online often, and were each for a reasonable amount, also similar to what I typically spend at these businesses. There was nothing that should have implied that this spending was irregular, however when I went to make my third purchase, my card was declined. The bank made no attempt to contact me in any way before freezing my account right before a holiday weekend. And, since it was 4:45 p.m. on a Thursday and the hours of this bank are the horribly inconvenient 9 to 4 Monday through Saturday, No one answered the phone. When I called back on Friday April 2nd, the overnight message was still on. Apparently the bank decided to take a 3-day weekend for Easter but didn't find it important to express that to their clients. So, my account was completely inaccessible the entirety of Easter weekend, and no one from the bank bothered calling me until almost 10 a.m. on Monday. What's even worse is that this isn't the first time they've done this. They did this while I was traveling out of state on two different instances, and frankly I would have canceled this account a year ago but when Covid hit, I was concerned about my ability to access my unemployment and didn't want to introduce any changes. My experience this weekend reminded me what a terrible bank this is, and withdrawing my money and canceling the account today just made my week. I hope this review saves a number of you the trouble that I had to go through the many times they demonstrated to me that this "Community" Bank was no such thing.
