  I am in the porcess of paying back an emergency loan from HFLA - San Francisco. I am very happy with the thoughtful approach and the idea of a nonprofit dedicated to interest-free loans to meet many needs. I found that the HFLA staff are willing to advocate for their applicants and that the rules are not iron-clad; they will work with those in need of funds in order to qualify. The downside is that it is difficult for those who do NOT have family or friends in the area who meet the co-signer guidelines to be financed, though these are opften the most needy possibssible recipients.

  On time service and helped generously when I needed a loan for grad school. Have your assets and budget in order, as well as an idea for two co-signers before committing to them. Moves the process along a whole lot smoother.
