  Hat city is always my go to for loans, selling and even buying. They have a great variety of quality items to buy and are always very fair with their buying and selling prices. Ontop of it all the staff is always so kind and respectful. Truly the most comfortable atmosphere in any pawn shop I've been to. Hat city is the best.

  The owners and employees are the nicest most professional people I have ever done business with. I unfortunately got in over my head and lost all the items I had pawned, they tried to work with me but I just couldn't keep up with the payments due to health/work related issues. I want to apologize to the owner and wish everyone the best of luck.

  Excellent gentlemen and a wholesome vibe. I'd never choose another pawn shop. Large variety of reasonably priced items and a fair owner Highly highly recommended! ✌

  They literally bend you over on the intrest for pawns. They give you 1 month to pay it back. NY gives you the same 20% intrest fee. And gives you 4 MONTHS. Trust me gas doesn't cost enough, take the drive. These people are a rip off. Given them way to much.

The length of the period being 30 days is the same for all pawn shops across the state of CT. And our fee of 20% is actually 5% lower than the neighboring city. We outline all of these terms in our pawn contracts and point out our loan terms to all customers before they sign their contract.   If you're ever in a bind, Hat City is hands down, unquestionably, the best place to go. Doug, Bobby, and the rest of the staff are fair and flat out good human beings. If you need extra time, they'll work with you. Pawn, sell or trade; prices are honest and fair and unlike many in that business they are not out to screw you over. I'll never go anywhere other then Hat City for pawn shop needs. Keep up the great service you provide fellas.

  A honest pawn shop! My golf clubs were stolen out of the back of my truck, decided to make a couple calls to local pawn shops with hope I could track them down. I described my clubs to the owner at hat city pawn shop and sure enough he had them. Not only did they hold them for me so I could come “buy” them back, but when I got there he gave them back to me for no cost. Thanks so much hat city pawn shop for your honesty and kindness.

  Probably the nicest people on the planet. They are so kind, funny and trustworthy. Great atmosphere, unlike any other pawn shop you will find ANYWHERE. Do not go anywhere else!!! You’re treated like family here and it feels so genuine. The owner is ex law enforcement and it shows; he is respectful, intelligent and truly has your best interest in mind. His wife and son are incredibly sweet, awesome people. It’s a family business and it really is a very pleasant experience. Even if you don’t live in Torrington, you’re best bet is to travel in order to get the help they offer so kindly. Never had a pawn shop experience like this one and I’m so grateful for them!

  I stopped in to inquire about some old coins that I have. The person that waited on me was so helpful and very honest about what he could offer me. He even gave me names of places I could get more $$ for my items. I would definitely go back if I had anything else I wanted to sell. Great people, great business.
