Diana1I closed my bank acounts with the bastrop branch because the employees were extremely rude. The customer service is just horrible and unfortunately they don't let you do much online, you have to go in person to do a lot.

Mr Richardson1I use to give my bank a 5⭐. For about a year and a half now I have not been able to talk to my local branch by phone. The local numbers are constantly being changed. Now you are forward to the main line in Austin Texas. Such a pain and inconvenience. I live out out town and doing business by phone on a local level is huge. I have to drive 28 minutes one way just to get to my branch. Sometimes I have to make two trips in a day depending on my needs. You can see the problem. You need to bring back customer service support at the local Bastrop location with a actual Bastrop number and an actual Bastrop employee on the other end. This member branch now charges you 10% for turning in your coins when it used to be free to members. They claim there is still a coin shortage and so that's why they need to charge their members 10%. I checked with the Federal Reserve. There is no coin shortage. Also I have noticed Greater Texas Federal Credit Union has altered where some of my deposits go. Switching deposits to different accounts without my permission. Recently applied for a signature loan which the interest does not exceed 10% then applied for the emergency loan which is half the interest rate of the signature loan. Approved for both at a 17% interest rate. I swear idiots run this bank now. And the lobby at my branch is closed until the end of January still. Just sad all the way around.
Response from the ownerHi Mr. Richardson, We have a centralized call center to help our local branches be able to assist members more efficiently. We would like to learn more about your experience so we can address your concerns. Please provide additional detail by visiting our Member Feedback Form at https://www.gtfcu.org/member-feedback

Doug Behn2I applied for a loan over the phone on Wednesday. It was quick and easy...5 stars! They sent me an email stating I would hear from them in 2 business days, by Friday. No such luck. I waited the weekend and still heard nothing on Monday. I contacted their loan department and was told I didn't qualify for the amount I had asked for, later to learn that I didn't have enough credit history...only 1 stating that my payment history was exceptional! I was advised they would offer me $700, which only would cover 1/3 of my needs, and I said go ahead for that amount. Again, not hearing anything by Wednesday, and having already written a check for radiator repair, I called them. They said that it hadn't been approved yet. The loan officer finally started the ball rolling, and the whole process was signed, sealed, and delivered in less than 2 hours!!! This entire process could have been taken care of much more efficiently, in MUCH LESS TIME!! The fact that I haven't used your, or anyone elses' credit services, does not, in and of itself, make me a bad credit risk. I believe further research on your part would have revealed that I was indeed worthy of acceptance for the original amount requested. That's what I would expect from a bank that wanted to keep my business. However, "All's well that ends well", and we haven't yet kissed and made up, I'll let bygones be bygones and expect better next time! Almost a pleasure doing business with you!
Response from the ownerHey Doug! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you had a less than excellent experience with our lending team. We will be sharing your thoughts with our lending team so they can continue to improve processes and become even more efficient. We utilize a variety of factors in our lending decisions, one of which being the depth of your credit history. This helps us to know if you have been able to manage a variety of debt in the past, and without that knowledge, it does increase our lending risk. As always, we recommend that borrowers do not move forward with taking on additional debt until they have received an approval from us during the lending process. If you have any questions regarding your loan or our lending factors, please do not hesitate to give our lending team a call at 800-749-9732.

Kevin Little1Applied online February 11th 2021 for a vehicle loan and had all the required documents uploaded to their system that evening. Got a pre approval notice pretty quick after I submitted all the financial verification info they requested. Anyway, the next day (12th) I submitted a buyers note from the seller of a vehicle I wanted. I was told in a email that I would be notified for next steps however, after a week and half I called and I was told they have everything they are just backed up. Ok, I wait another week and call again and was told the same thing..... so I waited another week. Well by March 6th the seller tells me they can no longer hold the vehicle for me. So thanks a lot GTFCU! I will never apply for loan through them again.

Miguel Garcia1I have banked with this union for over 10 years and I really have to say how disappointed I em. I do have to say that it might be personal luck but never have I had anything resolved with this bank the follow ups are horrible and I have had to always contact them back multiple times until anything gets done. I never leave reviews but in uncertain times we need someone we can trust and at the end of the day it might be my fault for not going else where a long time ago!
Response from the ownerHi Miguel, we are sorry to hear you’ve experienced difficulties getting in contact with our team. We would like to pass your feedback along to our management team. Please submit your experience to us at https://www.gtfcu.org/member-feedback so our management team can address your concerns.

Dog 4 Life Training5Leora Irby was extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable as we set up our business and personal accounts. Even when it turned out we didn’t have all the paperwork from the Secretary of State’s office to open the business account right away, she gave us clear, helpful instructions on how we can get that resolved. Very happy to bring our business here.
Response from the ownerYay! We are happy to hear Leora was able to provide you with a greater banking experience. Welcome to Greater Texas Credit Union! We're so glad you're here!

Carmen Chamness1PLEASE don't bank here. Horrible, awful, horrible. Everything is broken - the app, their ATMs, online services, their own databases. I should have noticed a red flag the very first day I was there. The lady who helped me open my checking account was very friendly, but she picked up the phone mid-process and was carrying on a personal conversation through half of the time I was in her office. In fact, apparently she was SO distracted, that she wrote down the wrong account number for me! Because of this, I couldn't access any of my accounts the first week until I came into the building again and we figured out the situation. THEN, after that, I was unable to activate my debit card for some unknown reason. I finally got a hold of someone, and they said my address was invalid because they weren't able to send me mail. WHAT? If that were true, then how could I possibly have received my debit card? The answer is, my address is completely valid and I received my debit card in the mail. This was obviously an error in their own system. Surprise, surprise. I would say you can only get into your online banking 50% of the time, if even. Their website always gives me random errors and employees seem to be confused about what's going on with their own systems. I haven't been able to access my account for a couple of weeks now. As you can imagine, not being able to access your money for weeks can be stressful. The physical locations are only open until 4, including their phone customer service. With my job, it is tough to make it in during these hours. I did not expect to need to go into the bank every week because I planned to mostly bank online. However, this is COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE with GTFCU. Their online services are basically non-functional. In conclusion, if you prefer to rely on online banking and ATM use, STAY AWAY. You will have extreme difficulties accessing your money. This branch might be alright if you only bank in person. They are friendly at least, but they seem confused.
Response from the ownerCarmen, thank you for leaving us a review and feedback on your experience with us. We are glad to hear that our staff is providing friendly customer service! However, being distracted to the point of making mistakes while meeting with a member is unacceptable. After looking into the situation, the reason you were initially unable to access your online banking and activate your debit card was due to an invalid address flag that was place on your account. We saw that the flag was placed in error (as you said, you had already received mail from us) and the flag was removed. You should have full access to your online account now. If you're still unable to access your account, please email us at [email protected] with your full name and a good phone number and we can schedule a time for a representative to call you. We do our best to be available to our members when they need us. Our branches do close at 4:00p.m. from Monday to Thursday, but on Fridays the lobby and drive through in Bastrop are both open until 6:00p.m. Representatives are available by phone until 6:00p.m. on Fridays as well. Again, we thank you for your review and please reach out to us if we can help in any other way.
