Golden 1 Credit Union Reviews

mpcolombo1Very frustrated with Golden one in general. I have banked with them for decades but I am ready to move to another bank because of all the inconvenience. Their tech issues with the new system is so inconvenient. At the beginning we were unable to deposit, withdraw or access our accounts for over a week . And today weeks later again unable to deposit with mobile or access online. To boot the Davis branch now has limited hours just til 5pm during the week so getting there to deposit in person is difficult too. You would think that since they are having so many tech problems they would at least make it easy to bank in person.

Aimin Chang4Golden1 working hours are from 10AM - 5 PM. If someone like Ms. Marther who does notary needs a long lunch break, the bank should close for lunch time rather than punish customers who have to wait for service a long time at the bank's "working hours" (We were the only customers at that time). Front desk girl went back to ask her 3 times before she came out. She even threatened us not to serve us when we complain about waiting for her too long. It's never happened in our more than 30 years experience with Golden 1. Since we have been like Golden1's service for more than 30 years. We decided change the one star to 4 stars. Hope Golden1 could keep their good tradition.
Response from the ownerHello Aimin, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us this feedback. We are always more than happy to assist you if anything else comes up. Take care!

Stephen Green1Have been a member for a very, very long time. Appreciate some aspects, but the customer service in the Davis branch is generally terrible. Two or three efficient and engaged staff, but the rest seem to not care at all about the length of the lines or making their customers wait an inordinately long time. Need to always allot at least 20-40 minutes for each trip, even for simple transactions. Recommend minimizing in-person transactions and doing as much banking as possible via ATM or online.
Response from the ownerHi Stephen Green. We're sorry to hear this was your experience. We use reviews like these to help us continue improving in the future. We will pass along your feedback to our Leadership Team for their reference. Please email: [email protected] if you’d like to share more details. Thank you for being a member of the Golden 1 family.

Michael Sanders1By far the slowest branch I have ever been to. They have 3 to 4 bankers who watch you stand in line for over 30 minutes while the tellers engage in personal conversations with customers at the windows. Management at this branch is lax and is not customer focused.
Response from the ownerHello Michael, we apologize for the inconvenience regarding your wait time. We will make Branch Leadership aware of your review to see how we can improve your next visit. Thank you for reaching out. Take care!

John Clark3I have been a member of the Golden 1 for 24 years and have had a good experience in most cases. Glenda was the manager for a very long time and always welcomed me to the branch and was extremely helpful. I had not visited the Davis branch for a long while but recently have needed to make several trips there for various financial needs. I will admit that on most occasions I have had to wait in line for longer than appreciated and that can be frustrating. In the past, if the new account reps were not busy, they would offer help for deposit only customers and that was very convenient. The environment of this branch has changed significantly over the years and I will make as few visits to this branch as possible. I am hoping that management recognizes the need for more support staff and quicker more efficient counter service. One significant change is the new coin machine in this branch that allows you to submit coins but charges a fee for transferring cash to your account. The old system allowed customers of G1 with a balance of at least $500 to have this fee waved. Bank across the street counts coins and does not charge for this service if you are a banking Customer with no requirement of a balance in your account. G1 could offer the same, it worked in the past. Third party coin machines don't belong in banks/credit unions.

Jay Aziz2The banks intrinsic services are fine. The two star rating stems solely from the substandard app interface. More often than not, it generates a precautionary timeout during mobile check deposit. The login fails frequently forcing one to log onto the desktop version to verify passwords over and over. Moreover, frequent system downtime renders funds and account information inaccessible. It’s an inconvenience at most, but in a market where the relevance of brick and mortar institutions is under scrutiny by consumers, minor issues like this will affect customer retention. I’m moving on to a financial institution whose digital infrastructure is more up to date and customer-centric.
Response from the ownerHello Jay Aziz We apologize for the situation you’ve experienced. Please email us your contact information at: [email protected] and we can have a representative reach out to you for assistance. Thank you! Annalisa Ching4I've been a member with this credit union through my parents, and I've had a great experience. They are helpful and genuinely care about me and my financial future. The only thing is that some of the workers transferred money from one of my accounts to the other without my permission, and I thought my money disappeared before I checked my other account, but that only was a day scare. Golden 1 is reliable and I still use it even though I moved to another state and access the credit union through one of its sister branches.

N Wong4Recently joined and had overall good experience. Wanted my money to be more locally held. Sometimes wait can be long during certain times, morning or lunch. But all employees I've dealt with have been very accommodating. They also have a machine that counts change which makes it easy to deposit.

Samuel Tran1Usually Golden 1 service is efficient and quick. However, this place is the slowest one I’ve ever been to. I’m first in line when I got here and they were working with two people before me. I’d assume that it would be quick. But the time of service is just unacceptable. I don’t know what they’re doing here compared to other Golden 1 locations
Response from the ownerHello Samuel Tran! Thank you for your feedback. We have been short staffed during COVID but we are continuously working to improve. We will pass along your feedback to our Branch Leadership for their reference. If you'd like to share additional feedback with us, please email: [email protected].
