Five Star Bank Reviews

THOMAS TAYLOR5One of the best business moves I've ever done was switching away from *&* and moving my accounts to Five Star Bank (That was about 14 years ago). This bank does not attempt to fee you to death. The staff is always friendly and always willing to go above and beyond to help me with my sometimes odd requests. Great Business. Thank you! A+
Response from the ownerHi, Thomas. Thank you for taking the time to share your review of Five Star Bank!

Erin Maynard1I'm usually not bothered enough by a bad experience to leave reviews like this... I've been with this bank since I was 15 years old, I know they can and have done better. Five-Star bank is great as a whole, this branches location has some sorting-out to do. The most recent problem can't be overlooked. I called this branch for some security related things, but no one answered. I left a message with my name and number, and explanation of what I wanted to do. (This didn't bother me.) I never got a call back, but a short while later, I got a text message saying they gave me a temporary passcode... even though I specifically requested a callback, so that I could go through the security measures over the phone. I wasn't asked ANYTHING to confirm my identity, but I got a unprompted text with a new password. This seems... unsafe? And I still got locked out again, because I didn't have "proper authentication," since they skipped all the security questions and protocol. So I called back... still no answer, even though they were supposedly open. So I had to call the customer-service and explain to them what happened, and why my phone call couldn't be transferred to my home-branch. If it weren't for customer-service(the woman I talked to really was great), or the online apps security (which made sure I wasn't some rando accessing someone else's account), this could have been a whole lot worse. Five Star as a banking institution is great, this branch leaves a lot to be desired.

Matthew Brennan1BEWARE: the ATM kept my BoA debit card. The teller and manager kept my card despite verifying my ID citing a ‘company policy’ bc it is from another bank with conflicting stories of what happened to the card. They have my card in hand and tell me I need to go to BoA to have another printed.
Response from the ownerAs a community bank, we pride ourselves in building relationships within our communities by providing excellent service and protecting our customers and neighbors. We genuinely regret the disappointment you have expressed. There are varying reasons an ATM may retain a card and because we do not have the necessary information to assess the reason a non-Five Star Bank card was retained, we take the position to protect the account holder and their assets. We destroy the card and ask the card holder to request a new card from their financial institution. We apologize for any frustration this has caused. If we can assist in any other way, please contact us at (877) 226-5578. We have a team available Monday – Friday from 7:30 am to 7:00pm and on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Thank you!

Mateo Cocinero1In the hotel and restaurant industry 5 star implies quality and good customer service. This is not the case with 5 star bank. I would highly recommend NOT using this bank and probably for that matter, the rest of the branch if this is how they operate. (9/15) I came into the bank because I am leaving for a trip to Mexico and needed cash for my trip. The teller that helped me was nice and very helpful. My bank is in Colorado so I was only able to withdraw 1,500 instead of the 2,000 I needed. It was explained to me that my card has a 1,500 limit. Which was fine, I appreciate the protection, so I found out what the hours were and made plans to come back the next day. The Teller put my profile in the system so that the next day when I came back it would be even easier. (9/16) When I came into the bank they only had one teller working after waiting for 10 minutes for assistance, I explained to the teller that I was back and that they had put my information into the computer the day before. The teller told me that she does not think she could help me. She then went and talked to her manager, the manager told her that I could get the $500 outside at the drive up atm. Instead of coming back to the counter the teller came up to me through the lobby and explained my transaction in front of the other customers which was extremely unprofessional. Considering, I made a special trip to come back and the fact that I was traveling I needed high domination bills, I decided that I was not going to use the Services of the bank and left. Later, after the way I was treated I decided to call the manager and ask her if she thought that was acceptable customer service. When I explained that I was helped the day before and had no issues getting 1,500 dollars, instead of apologizing for the misunderstanding, which I would have been fine with. The Manager proceeded to attempt to sell me on the fact that she was doing me a favor by sending me to the drive up ATM because "it saved me the service fee" . When I explained to her that I needed high domination bills, the Manager told me that I could have come back in and exchanged my $500 worth of $20 bills for what I needed. So to put this in prospective the manager felt that instead of helping me at the counter. That sending me outside to get back into my car, drive up to the ATM, get money, come back in and exchange the money for the correct domination. Because it would have "Saved me money". Which considering the inside fee was probably around $5 dollars and the Atm fee was probably 2-3 dollars. The manager felt that waisting my time and putting me in a position where I am carrying a large amount of cash outside was an appropriate solution for saving $2-3 dollars. On top of that attempted to make seem that is was my fault that this problem occurred. So expect poor customer service and if there is a problem that it is your fault. If this is the critical thinking skills of the management of the bank. I would be concerned that I would be getting proper advice on matters that are more important than saving 2 dollars.

Steven Lauer1The only reason I gave it 1 star was because of the young lady that helps us. Other than that, it's trash. We have set up an automatic withdrawal 3 times with them and they still screw it up. We have had to constantly go there to have them take it out. This right there tells me they are incompetent bank that can't do simple things.
