First Citizens Bank Reviews

J. Lyons1This place was quite discriminatory and we will be changing Banks soon. I have a joint account with someone that's a student, disabled veteran and single father - he's overdrafted before (for some reason even though we have overdraft protection enabled, they don't block accounts from charging to us) so they decided they needed to wait 5 days to process his check. It's now been a week and when I called customer service, they put specifically to hold his check for the entirety of five business days, for what reason? It'll be any days since we've deposited money that was supposed to go towards essentials, he's literally had family members pay for supplies at this point. They also told us that if the account continues getting charged, we will still have the pay for all of the overdraft fees which are $32 per charge over $5, this is the most horrible service I've ever gotten from First citizens. I've been a member for 3 years now, and there's absolutely no way I'm staying after the way I've seen him get treated. There's no reason they had to do this, it is spiteful and we should have just closed our account Instead I'm waiting for this but lesson learned. Do not open a First citizens account, it is ridiculous but they're doing this, especially since I'm also a student and they had absolutely no problem with giving me my check the same day, several years ago multiple times!!!!!!! I genuinely did enjoy having this bank account whenever I was living in North carolina, the customer service representative or much more human
