Kelly Bole1Recently rented Best of Times. Horrible smell on level with bedrooms; smells like old sewage water. Master bathroom on top level smells like old cigarette smoke. Refrigerator didn't work the 4 days we were there so we lived out of coolers. Requested compensation for the inconvenience and Sabrina told us she'd contact owner and let us know. She didn't call back, so I called her again the day we checked out. She said the owner agreed to $100 refund. When I questioned the low amount, considering the rental was over $1500 for 4 days, she became somewhat rude and condescending implying we caused the problem by putting too much food in the refrigerator. We declined the refund and hope the homeowner will use the money to take care of the awful smell on the main sleeping level. I do not recommend using this agency, or renting this home.

Like with any personal home, the need for repairs can come up at any time and it is our goal to respond to such as quickly as possible so your stay is impacted as little as possible by the inconvenience. Jessica Hughes1We booked our condo months ago through this company. After figuring out the dates online, we called the reality company to ask for more pics of the bathroom. At that time - a young girl informed us that the pictures weren't available because the condo was undergoing renovations but would be complete early June. None of this was on their website, no mention of any hurricane damage or construction. The company said that the place was booked by other families starting in June and it would definitely be complete by then, and they would send updated pictures as soon as it was completed. Well 2 days ago we called to see if they could send the pictures since our trip is less than 3 weeks away, and that's when everything unraveled. Turns out, the condo will NOT be complete by our arrival date, and all they could offer us was a refund. Most of the people we have talked to have been nice, just not very helpful. However, today we spoke to someone who was frankly obnxiously rude. When we asked if the company planned on offering a comparable place that same week, She quoted "NC law" that they are not required to offer any substitutes and that they were booked that week. She also informed us that according to "NC law" they could cancel a trip up to the day of. Well that might be your state law, but its very poor excuse of customer service. I can only guess that had we not done a follow up call, we would have shown up and not had a place to stay. At least we have 20 days to scramble and try to find a different beach to go to. In a time where you now have options to rent directly through the owners with airbnb and other websites, its better to leave out the middle man of reality companies such as this one. They had no problem with taking our money, just couldn't come up with a place for us to stay.

Kelsie Ahbe Holahan2Not professional. Staying at Summer Winds resort with multiple families. Security is on a power trip and taking their jobs far too seriously. They bother guests at every turn, obsessively checking for a wristband. Security has definitely taken away from us enjoying our stay as they harass us for proof of stay every chance they get.

Sandy Akins1We are here for the week, staying in Dolphin Watch West. How disappointed!!! Came in Sunday night. Several issues but the major issue is as of today, Wednesday, we still have no working refrigerator/freezer. Many calls to maintenance with responses like “it’s not cooling yet”! Really!!! Got a serviceman 2:00 Wednesday and he says “ you need a motor. Might can get one today but not sure.” Very unhappy with our service and treatment. Not how I planned to spend my vacation with my food and medicine in a cooler!!! First and last stay with this group

Unfortunately, appliance failure can occur in a vacation home just as it can in a personal home, and we have no choice but to be reactive when that happens. We rely on sub-contracted vendors to perform appliance repair, so we are often on their schedule. Coolers and ice delivery, as was provided for you and your family, is the best option we have in such a circumstance. We know this is not part of how you envisioned your vacation, and we appreciate your patience and understanding. gary pender2My family and I have rented several houses from Emerald Island Realty. Some great and some fair. This year we had the house from hell. I do not place full blame on Emerald Island Realty though. The owners of Afternoon Delight have thier own maid service and again I don't blame Emerald Island Realty for what I'm fixing to say here. But I would say they might want to change the contracts and make it mandatory that owners use thier maid services exclusively. Upon arrival after check in time we still had to wait for the house tobe cleaned on both sides as we rented the whole duplex. The good things first. The view from the back deck is great. The bad. The floor was still dirty and we found blood spots on a couple of the mattress covers . There were nails sticking up on both back and front decks that I had to beat back down with a rock cause I didn't bring my tools and didn't want any of my family to get hurt. One room had bed bugs and had tobe heat treaded treated . And the air conditioning on one side of the house kept freezing up because the condenser was blocked up with sand and whoever it was they sent out was either too ignorant or lazy to blow the sand out the condenser so it would have proper ventilation. Couldn't have coffee the first morning because the coffee pot was growing fungi in it. Again I don't place any of the blame on Emerald Island Realty. In my opinion. The owners themselves most likely don't use the house for anything other than rental property and only do what is necessary to be able to rent it out. I have never done a review before on any of the houses I've rented. I have only replied to a few questions by email when asked. Overall we were able to get a few good moments through the week of our stay. Emerald Island Realty did go out of their way to try and make things up to us. We only rented this house cause our favorite one was already booked and we had extra family members come down this year. Yes I will say we will use Emerald Island Realty again. They addressed the problems directly and in the best way possible. I gave them a 2 star here but that's basically on this house only. My overall experience with Emerald Island Realty has been a 5 star.

However, the customer service team were very accommodating and truly put in an extraordinary amount of effort to ensure that the rest of the trip was enjoyable. fwg214555We have been vacationing at Emerald Isle for decades, and in many years have used Emerald Isle Realty to find and rent an oceanfront house or duplex. We have always been very satisfied with the level of service we have received; they have been friendly, and when we needed help they have provided it promptly. In recent years, we were particularly appreciative of their efforts to get us into our rental immediately following a hurricane. Our vacation could have been completely derailed by the event, but it became just a minor inconvenience, thanks in part to EI Realty's diligence and hard work. In short, we would recommend Emerald Isle Realty unhesitatingly to anyone vacationing on the Crystal Coast.

Erin Heimann1Myself and 90 of my fellow students rented out 10 houses for the weekend and were evicted promptly within 24 hours of arrival due to the fact that we were college students. While this is in the rental agreement, the agent that the houses were booked with was WELL informed that we were a group of students and had absolutely NO problem accepting an $8,800 check and then sending us home the second night we were there. Either this company is incredibly unorganized with their staffing situation or they knew exactly how to pocket some extra cash by skirting the law of their own agreement. Clearly will not be using this company again and nor will any of our friends and families.

Hunter David1Horrible service would not make the pool work properly after multiple efforts to get the issue fixed the hot tub was green and they would not correct it. When you reach out to them they don’t even call you back!!!! I would never rent from this company!!

Woody Jr1To be fair, the quality and price of the beach house we purchased were satisfactory. However, I seriously suggest anyone purchasing a house from EIR checks the criticisms available on google review. Their customer service is appalling. A week prior to our visit we attempted to contact them a total of three times. They never returned our phone calls. At 7pm literally THE DAY before our arrival we were told that we wouldn't have linens for our house and would need to bring our own. That's a logistical nightmare for a family with only hours to spare. During our visit the internet connection was extremely unstable and couldn't be used. After our visit we needed to follow up with a lost item in our room and once again, we have called and emailed them again and again. No response - once they get your money, consider your interaction with them concluded.

As for the linens, the week that you stayed was the first and only time we have been unable to provide linen services to our guests. This matter was out of our control as it resulted from a malfunction in the equipment used by the laundering facility that launders linens for most vacation rental companies, and even hospitals, up and down the North Carolina coast. I am sorry for the inconvenience that I know this caused you, and of course we were happy to refund any money collected for such services. Thank you again for your feedback.
