  I switched to Elgin State Bank after being with a larger, well known bank for years. The main reason I left is that I felt like they kept talking away services that the customer could actually use, e.g., exchanging coins. I have been very happy with Elgin State Bank. I have never had an issue with any tellers or the ATM machine. I will be a long time customer.

  Do not bank here unless your a rich person because they do not care about the common man. I banked here for close to 10 years and never once overdrafted my account. They let a fraudulent charge go to my account which took all my money for the week and are charging me every day for overdraft. They don't care that i cant buy coffee or put gas in my car so now im stuck hungry and with no gas to go to my job. Thanks for looking out for me and my money. I urge anyone who reads this to find a different bank, one that cares about the little guys in life who may not mean anything to this bank because we aren't millionaires.

  I don't know that I can call this a bank. I am on the board of a small non-profit and we make deposits pretty regularly. 9 times out of 10 the ATM is BROKEN. It's either out of receipt paper, not accepting cash, or just not working in general. I have had a checking acct. at the same bank since I turned 18 and you know how many times ANY of their ATMs have been broken? Zero. Today the sign said I could come back AFTER business hours and use the night deposit- I'm not the person who keeps our checkbook, so 1, i don't have any deposit slips, 2. What if i had driven all the way out here from farther away to be told "come back when we're closed". This bank is perfect if you like to carry around cash that belongs to your organization everywhere you go in hopes that the next time you're in the area you can use the ATM.

  So I walk into this bank and have a teller, Patty, assist with my documentation request.I will, admit, I was a little short as I skipped lunch and was wanting to leave asap. Tammy was able to help me with the documentation so I was on my way..I had to get to UPS to have some items sent out.One problem, my car was dead and I just had the battery changed. I couldn't find anyone with cables but Patty said she would help. She could have said Sorry since I was a little short but she actually helped. When I apologized and mentioned I had a light breakfast and skipped lunch, she pulled out a kind bar and gave it to me. I was just shocked what a sincere, good hearted woman she is. We live in dark times right now but Patty proved there is light. Give patty a raise, time off or something to show appreciation. Yeah I'm a fool for not having cables and skipping lunch. Lo siento.

  Not a good business bank. Doing a purchase on a property was impossible. Took way too long to get back to you and almost lost property because of their slow pace. Over 2 months and not even a rate or answer. Thankfully a different lender came through. I have also had multiple issues with personal account as well.

  Horrible bank worst customer service. Taking my business elsewhere. The smug tellers that lack professionalism. No consistency in their rules.....if the "recognize you" through the drive through they will provide you with your deposit info (from that day) but it they don't "recognize you" they give you a hard time and attitude. Bad attitudes here and supremely unprofessional. Stay away!

  As a small business owner, there's nothing more important than your relationship with your bank! Even before we had our business plan fully assembled, my husband and I were meeting with Adam Hogan at Elgin State Bank. He made himself available to talk through everything that was involved in fulfilling our dream of owning our own auto repair facility. Adam brought a wealth of wisdom for financial planning and very practical advice to assist us through the SBA process. In the years since we first acquired Fox River Tire & Auto, he has consistently gone above and beyond to serve and support our family and our business. I can't imagine that we would be where we are today without his support and the partnership of the team at Elgin State Bank team. Small town sensibilities and old fashioned service coupled with the professionalism and capacity of a national bank. The best of both worlds!

  One of those stupid banks that won't let you exchange US currency unless you have an account. Except this one had been letting me do it for the past few months, then suddenly stopped today for no reason. "I'm sorry," the teller said to me in a bored tone that made it crystal clear she was not. This bank is especially stupid because I had been thinking of getting an account here, because they had been so cool. Now I never will.

  Been with this bank for over 30 years.tthey have Always been there when we needed them. Always wonderful service.
