  I paid more than $17,000 in additional taxes as a result of filing the return that these folks prepared. When they asked for my signature on the tax return shortly before the filing deadline, they failed to mention that they changed (from the prior year return) a key aspect of the return which increased my tax liability by the $17K. Even my tax collectors told me that DK screwed up. When I asked to schedule a call with a partner to discuss the matter, they refused to even talk it over. Instead, they took an totally adversarial approach, and cited this language in their engagement letter: “You have the final responsibility for the income tax returns, and therefore, you should review them carefully before you sign them.” Simply translated: 'You pay for our screw-ups.' So if you are an accountant and can ensure their work is proper, maybe you are in a good position to hire them. For everyone else, know that their work quality, in my experience, is far below what you can get from India.

  My company uses DK Partners as our CPA and they are an excellent firm to work with. We are a company that travels from state to state to do work and they were able to help us unwind the variances from state to state on tax liabilities. They also work hard to make sure our tax returns are accurate and that we don't pay a penny more than necessary.   My company was referred to Danny and team at DK Partners about two years ago. We were told they are the best in Austin, and they lived up to those expectations. They perform all of our year end taxes, and any general accounting needs that we need as a company. Accessibility is always an understatement, any time we need to speak with someone, or meet in person to review, Danny and Dennis are both there ready for us. They are incredibly professional, and make what is typically painful accounting, about as painless as it can get. So with what I was told years ago, I can now also say that Danny and team are the best in Austin.

  As I have gotten older my taxes have gotten considerably more complex with various investments and retirement accounts, multiple hard assets, children, etc. It is WAY over my head or the heads of those pop-up accountants or do-it-yourself softwares. The first year my husband and I used Davila Buschhorn they went back to our previous year and found many deductions that were missed, refiled for us, and got us a large refund we weren't even expecting! For the last couple of years we have had very complicated returns from buying and selling real estate. I always feel confident with them handling it. They are very thorough and I can honestly say wouldn't trust our taxes to anyone else.
