Green Samurai1Over an Assumption, thinking that my PREGNANT wife would leave her job because she has a new work from home job that makes a dollar less than me and is full time with health insurance, they assumed she would leave her job. She has been working there for about 6 months now and we were buying this house together and they said no on our last week. The day we were supposed to do our final walk through. THEY TOLD US WE WERE GOLDEN!!! That we should put our two month notice in for our apartment which WE DID! So they heartlessly let us now become homeless with no warning. We are now pretty positive that they didn’t work with us because the underwriter saw our age and drop us. We had the money, the credit score, and both had stable jobs making well over the necessary income. This was a form of ageism at its finest. Our ages are 21 and 23. I will always inform people not to work with DHI because they will build you up and at the every last second drop you like it’s nothing.

Elias Rivas5We loved working with DHI Mortgage. They were very communicative and helpful and really worked with us. We ended up not being able to buy due our own reasons and they really tried to work with us. It was a great experience and we will definitely be back to work with them in the future.
Response from the ownerHi Elias, Thank you for the kind feedback! We'll be sure to pass this along to the team that you worked with. Have a great day!

Lori Helene5I loved working with DHI on my new purchase. They were prompt, informative, kind, and never once left me hanging. I worked with Susie and Connor and I would 10/10 recommend. They were on top of everything and super patient with me. I’ve worked with other lenders, don’t let the negative reviews deter you from working with this company.
Response from the ownerHi Lori, Thank you very much for the kind words! We'll be sure to pass this along to the team that you worked with. Have a great day!

Lily Castle1IF I could give NO Star, I would. They are Lazy. Rude. Do NOT return phone calls, even after four or five messages left. One Originator actually never returns calls. I would NOT ever use DHI Mortgage NOR DHI Title again. The worst experience we've ever had in any situation involving buying or selling a house. It actually makes me sick to even think about that period of time. I would rather buy a trailer and live in it than go through that again! And it was all so unnecessary! We had to get a Notary to do the closing, and DHI Title refused to allow us to get our own closing agent! I would suggest you stay as far from them as possible!

Michael H1If I could give 1 star I would. If communication is important to you when it comes to closing on your mortgage then steer far away from this company. Our closing has been rescheduled 3 times and we have had to call all 3 times the day before our scheduled closing to be made aware that there are circumstances preventing us from closing. We obviously have no insight into this as all the issues have been on the Lender side. Unprofessional and unapologetic with little empathy that is what you should expect when dealing with this organization.

Ernest Pena1ZERO stars! This has to be the worse mortgage company in the world. They are horrible, horrible, horrible. They are incompetent, incompetent, incompetent. We have been trying to close on our loan for nearly 4 months now. Our loan officer, Sal Renteria and our processor, Patricia Teague don't have a clue what they are doing, but the biggest VILLIAN was our underwriter whose name was never was never given to us. The underwriter is most likely an unhappy, incompetent, vile human being who hates his/her life and is hated by everyone around him/her. The manager, Tim Stahla is absolutely worthless. Stay away from this joke of a mortgage company. They will destroy your life by their incompetence and lack of any ethical standards.
Response from the ownerHi Ernest, We're sorry you've had a bad experience, we'll get your message to the right people. Thanks!

Nancy Bullard5I have received two home loans with DHI, not my first homes but by far the best, most professional and seamless experiences in my 40 years of home buying. Pat and Wes were my two loan officers and both were excellent, pleasant, and always available to help. I won't go anywhere else if I ever buy another home! They are wonderful. They made a stressful process so much easier. Thank you, Pat, for my home in 2014, and Wes, for my lovely home in 2016! You all are the best!

Charlie Arroyo1DHI Mortgage and Title – Your Worst Nightmare! We purchased a DR Horton home as an investment property with our son and his wife to be our tenants. The buying experience was great and the care and attention to our needs through our 2 walk throughs was awesome! Thank you Cindy (sales) for sending us updates and pictures on the progress of the home being built and thank you Alex (superintendent) for spending the time with us and answering all of our questions. Now the nightmare… we went with DHI Mortgage as a matter of convenience and I should have done my due diligence on Yelp and Google reviews prior to agreeing to going with this lender. Shame on me as we have another investment property with TIAA who are amazing to work with. Just to set the stage, we were constantly hounded for information over and over again throughout the qualification process. It was non-stop and completely redundant in many cases and over the top. Our net worth and combined incomes would have had any lender salivating for our business but no, not DHI. On the Friday before our scheduled Tuesday close, another request for information came through at 6 p.m. I was on the phone with them Friday and Saturday afternoon trying to satisfy their ridiculous requests. Yes, I lost it at times and my language was not appropriate but any reasonable adult would have expressed the same frustration and outrage I am sure. We were asked for documentation that could not even be produced and in one case, they insisted on payment history of our rental house with the URL at the top. I’m sorry but the output as a pdf with the TIAA logo and detailed payment information was not good enough. Then they had the audacity to suggest I was some kind of idiot and that surely it could be produced. I invited the loan officer to join my WebEx and shared my screen with them and of course I was right. Our nightmare continued consistently over the course of the process and it seemed like everyday I would receive this subject line note in my reader: “Additional information required for your DHI Mortgage loan application” or “Outstanding items to complete for your DHI Mortgage loan application.” Aaargh!!! Enough already!!! On the night before close, we are advised that we are to close at 3 pm. I was like, what? we were told 11 am which we cleared our work calendars for to make this time. “Oh no” I am told, the calendar has you down for 3 pm. Totally unprofessional! Thinking we finally jumped through the final hoop on the day of close, yet another request comes through to “Upload Paystubs”. OMG, these people are insane! Are they really going to put off our closing in 6 hours cause they lack a pay stub? I seriously had my doubts that this loan was going to close and was unsure of what our recourse was. We had rescheduled delivery dates, utility starts, u haul moving reservations and work vacation time on account of the close being rescheduled once already. The loan processors of course blamed me cause “I was doing things my way” I was told. It was becoming a full time job getting this loan documentation together and I had had it with these people. So the saga continues… we arrive at our scheduled close time and the docs aren’t ready! “Go wait in your car till we call you” we were told. Well how long is this going to take we asked? No clue. So we ventured off to get gas for the car and an ice cream and the phone rings letting us know they are ready for us. We arrive and the lady that was closing us didn’t tell us her name or offer us water and just started shoving papers to sign under the plexiglass barrier. I had several questions which she couldn’t even answer. Amazing! Was I the one that was unreasonable I asked myself? Am I being a jerk here? And the answer to that question I found in all the Yelp and Google reviews of DHI Title and Mortgage – absolutely not! There was not one review above 1 star on Yelp and terrible reviews on Google. Yes, I do feel vindicated and would urge anyone considering using these people to stay clear!
