Debbie McNeil, Movement Mortgage Reviews

Rebecca Green3UPDATE: I added a star to this review because I had a very good conversation with the Branch Manager Greg. They definitely took this as a learning opportunity and showed they truly care about their customer's experience. While mine was the last thing anyone would want to have, your experience most likely will be better after this learning opportunity. Thank you Greg! This review isn't for Debbie, but someone she works with at this location, Terri. I was looking into buying my first house (it's my husband's second.) We had been in communication with the realtor's office both Debbie and Terri work out of and they referred us to Movement Mortgage to get our pre-approval. We went through the initial process with Terri. We gave her everything she needed, and when she ran our numbers (without pulling credit), she said we were approved for roughly 50-75k over what we were looking for in a house (SWEET!) She walked us through how long it would take for the approval letter and that she would then send us the paperwork with the numbers so we could see how much we wanted to put down on a house, and what the numbers looked like with down payment assistance (since we qualified.) I then asked her directly if those numbers had any contingencies or anything that we needed to be aware of (such as selling our current home first), and she said (with me, my husband and our realtor in the room) "Nope, you can start looking for a house and put an offer down as soon as you want." GREAT!! We allowed them to run our credit for the official pull so we could get our pre-approval letter ready. Of course, the next weekend, we were walking through a house that we wanted (and we could grow our family in) and we decided to put an offer down. A couple hours later, our real estate agent called us asking "Did Terri mention anything about contingencies?" No, she didn't and I asked her specifically if there were, and she told me no. As it turns out, we had to sell our house first in order to be approved! While there is nothing wrong with us needing to sell our house first, WE WOULDN'T HAVE LET THEM PULL OUR CREDIT if we knew that we would need to prepare our house to sell first. I then was put in contact with Debbie (who I feel horrible got pulled into this.) I asked her if this was information that Terri would have known with the information we provided and Debbie confirmed that Terri would have known about this contingency before puling our credit. So, now my husband and I are scrambling to find a way to move out of our home before buying a house within the couple months we have with our current approval (and we don't want to have to pull our credit again and risk lowering our credit scores we worked HARD to keep high.) We tried seeing about renting out our home, so we scheduled a meeting with Debbie to see what our options are. She is really the reason there are any stars on this review (because if I could, I would give them 0 stars.) Terri. Got. All. Our. Numbers. Wrong. She padded my wages so we could be approved for more, she said our current home would sell for at least 20k more than what our realtor's office estimated for, she neglected to send us our numbers for the house like she said she would, and she didn't disclose any contingencies. While my husband and I appreciate Debbie trying to make it right (which there wasn't much she could do), Movement Mortgage really screwed our file up. So now, we are faced with a massive dilemma - do we wait another year till we have more money saved to get a hope like we originally thought (while our current home's value increases) or do we try and scramble to get a house that we probably aren't going to be happy with because the original lender told us we can look for homes way above what we were actually approved for. As a first time home buyer, this was an awful experience. When we look for our next home for our growing family, we are definitely going somewhere else. Movement Mortgage - train you employees better!
