  Pros: BIG FEATURES => Best house design(s) in this area IMHO, Bathrooms, Kitchen, (Whole house really) CUSTOMIZATION => Exact counters we wanted, kitchen faucet, light fixtures, etc/only thing I asked for that they wouldn't do was to paint my office with whiteboard paint, ABOVE & BEYOND => Paid for the extension of my rate lock. OVERALL VALUE => Great size, sf, room# for price. Cons: HVAC=> system went down twice when it was hot and took over a week to repair (that said HVAC has keep us cool or warm besides these incidents), LATE => did not deliver the house on time, QUALITY => lots of little fixes still required after we closed. The Foreman has been responsive and fair. THING I WISH I HAD ASKED FOR => a sink in the garage. P.S. No matter what someone tells you, you think you hear, or you think you read, they will NOT stain your deck.

  Worst experience in my life!! My grandfather was a contractor his entire life so I know what to expect from builders. This company was horrendous from the start. Started contract talks and signed paperwork for a 3 acre lot, come to find out they didn’t even own the lot to begin with so they illegally signed contracts on something they didn’t even own. On top of that they never started the build, not even a year later. Finally we cancelled the contract and they still tried to hold on too my money. Completely unprofessional on every level and lack a clear understanding of laws and regulations. Would never work with these people again even if the home was offered for free!!! They need their licenses revoked ASAP!!

I can assure you all of our contracts have been extensively reviewed by legal professionals who make sure everything we do is way above board. What you are referring to is called an “option contract” and is very common in this industry.   We are very pleased with our Custom Home of Virginia. Working with the design team was a pleasant experience all around. We never felt pressured or stressed from our initial meetings all the way through to choosing our selections. The standard options are what other builders consider upgrades. The models to choose from are all beautiful! Communication with the entire team was easy and I was always able to get in touch when I needed. I would highly recommend Custom Homes of Virginia if you are looking to build.

  We just built a home with Custom Homes of Virginia and it was an amazing experience. We were looking at used homes which were around the same price. With Custom Homes of Virginia, you can customize a home to your liking, needs, and requirements. Truly a home you can move into and live right away with no additional worries. They also provided a 2/10 home warranty which put us at ease. They were extremely responsive throughout the process and they always followed through on their promises. They definitely get two thumbs up! Again, amazing experience which you will remember forever! Very exciting! Update: I highly recommend thoroughly checking out the house before signing for it. Have a home inspector check and also check it yourself. Do not sign for the house until you are completely satisfied. Read the 2/10 warranty also. It only covers certain things. Read the fine print. Again, Custom Homes of Virginia was a great overall experience, but by no means do not rush into signing for the house and accepting until you are completely happy. Just a recommendation.

  Although the turn out of my home was close enough to what I envisioned I was extremely happy in the beginning. Then this turned into a horror Story and one I’ll definitely will remember forever. The COMMUNICATION was by far the worst thing about this journey. It took several weeks and some things months to get a response too. I fear I would never recommend this company to my enemy listen to the reviews that are not that great I read them after starting and thought these people were crazy because everyone in the beginning was so nice. Although I have spoken too other home owners and they agreed on the same issues. There is so many extremely distasteful things I can spend my time going over but it’s not worth anymore of my energy I’ll fight that battle another day. I do like to put a positive thing in and say they did surprise me with the additional option for my freestanding tub background. It does look Great! But because of the overall experience I feel the 1 is all I can genuinely give. They really need to involve the client a lot more there’s too much guessing and errors made because of the lack of communication. I feel if they work on communication they could really have a good thing here!

  This team will make false promises. They dragged my family around with the whole process for almost a year just to terminate our contract. They constantly lied. Never could get in contact with them. The communication was by far the worse I even seen. Would never recommend their services.

  My experience was excellent. You are building a home, DO NOT expect everything to be perfect! If you are impatient buy a resale. This was the only builder I found that would buy the land and not make you get a construction loan which for me was wonderful! There were a few bumps along the way however nothing that would keep me from recommending them. All of their standard features were upgrades with other builders. I had looked at multiple other properties before I finally chose them. I'm still waiting for them to fix the garage door that they got concrete on and get the pictures of the home they took, otherwise I'm completely satisfied.

  Be very Careful with Custom Homes of Virginia they will cut quality to cut cost do not buy a home from them that they have installed zone heating the only one that saves in this system is the builder. my condo burned down and they did the rebuild and forced me into a two zone system and it has not worked correctly at all. It has been worked on 4 times Now I have to go in my attic to open and close dampers in order to try and balance out the heat. when I informed Kenton about the imbalance after 2 weeks I was informed it was not his problem call Smith & Keene. Custom homes will allow sub standard installations. Do your self a big favor and have A third party inspector come in and do and inspection Someone without ties to Custom Home of Va. if you plan to buy one of their homes. Look very close at the homes heart beat. (Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC system). A used car can be made to look great. but how long will it run?
