Connex Credit Union Reviews

Veronica1Mandy sometimes comes off as really sarcastic. She talks to me like I'm stupid when I'm just trying to get a better understanding of something. The condescending tone she has is so degrading. I had my problems fixed anyway, but I left upset because the service was so bad. She may have been having a bad day she had no makeup on and seemed irritated (she usually looks more presentable) but that doesn't make it okay to get upset with me
Response from the ownerHi Veronica, we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your feedback. While we do strive to give all of our members a great experience we are sorry to hear that you had an unpleasant experience.

Leigh Hill1Lots of ineptitude & attitude. Horrendous teller service (with one exception, manager seemed troubled abt my experience, was nice). Having been relegated to only doing business at drive up as of 3 weeks ago due to covid (?) the average transaction time is 15+ minutes. Just for a withdrawal. I've cleaned my entire vehicle while waiting in line. Only open 7 hours some days, they still work at the speed of molasses in January. I moved here recently, this is a co-op w my credit union. I need to open an account in CT. It won't be at Connex, that's for sure.
Response from the ownerHi Leigh, thank you for letting us know about your experience. With the onset of the pandemic last year, we did institute some temporary changes to promote safety and social distancing; one being that shared branching members will have to use the drive-up for services. Unfortunately drive-up times do take longer if members don't have deposit or withdrawal slips filled out when they reach the teller; we are encouraging members to fill them out ahead of time to lessen wait times. We also have live interactive tellers available from 7am - 7pm at our ATM machines (except New Haven) who can help you with most transactions you'd conduct inside a branch. This is great for those who need early morning or late hours before the branch is open or after it's closed. We hope this information clears up any misunderstandings. Again, we appreciate your feedback!

Minecia Scott2I transferred a balance from another account. I knew there would be a transfer fee, what they didn' t tell me that I would be charged a transfer fee every month. This can't be legal. How can you keep charging me a fee for the same money? I have been a member since the 70's, but I am considering looking for somewhere else.

Robert Durant5I love this place. Low to no fees. Even when I have overdrawn my account they have let me slide on a fee. Customer service is great. Bill pay and online system is the best. Goodbye Bank Ameica, Wells Fargo and Chase!!!

Rebekah Bentle Laudermilch3Connex gives great rates on car loans and great interest on account. However, service is slooooooow and the hours are so inconvenient; Most days, they close at 3:00 pm. Thankfully, I have a Chase account as well that I can use for in person transactions at hours that make more sense.

J.E. A.2I don’t know about Connex Credit Union. This credit union has the worst customer service in the world. For one thing, this is supposed to be a members’ service credit union, NOT! I closed my account at a local bank and opened it at this credit union which I had been a member since the early eighties. I don’t know if it is since it became Connex and has all these ads on television, but this credit union is a nightmare. To begin with when I opened my checking account I established an over-draft protection of $700.00. On one occasion, I went into the branch to check my balance is gave me a positive balance of $353.00, so I withdrew $100.00 and did some groceries for $53.00. When my salary went into the account is was immediately short $175.00, when I went into the branch to question this. I found out that the system they used has a glitch and the money it showed as being available in my account was the over-draft protection, and every time I used that money I was charged $37.00. So for the $100.00 I withdrew, it cost me $37.00, and the $53.00 groceries cost me $37.00. I also found out that they don’t send out return check notices. When I asked them how would someone know if a check was returned, I was told that I would have to wait until whoever I wrote the check to contacted me. I asked them to remove the over-draft protection because it was not helping me. My next disappointment came when I went into the branch to pay my mortgage, which I paid on the 29th of the month along with the late fees. Their system did not register the payment until the following Monday morning of the beginning of the next month, regardless of the fact that the money had been transferred from my checking to the loan. I got a notice on my credit score that Connex reported my payment as being over 30 days late, dropping my credit score by several points. The third incident happened this month; I transferred some money into my checking account to pay my bills. I received an email acknowledgement on Friday afternoon informing me that the transaction had been confirmed. What I did not know was that the credit union system shuts down and did not record the money into my account until Monday morning after 9:00 a.m., when they opened, so one of my payments was rejected by them, costing me $37.00 from them and $25.00 from my credit card. I went into the credit union again, for an explanation, this was when I found out that information I’m sharing with you. The manager at the local branch in the Hamden Plaza is Connecticut, is a very rude, unhelpful individual. I don’t know how he could be a manager of a branch because this is a foreign man who has a nasty attitude, the moment you begin to talk to him you can see the contempt in his face, he does not help you. I’ve been to him twice and neither occasion had he offered any help. His solution is to tell me to call the credit union 24 hour line, to find out my balance and that “you are expecting too much from us, you are putting too much on us.” So, once again, the credit union didn’t come through for me. I reminded him of the fact that the ATM inside of their branch gave me inaccurate information and they only refunded half of the money, even though it was through no fault of mine. Now the bank manager made no attempt to refund me the return fees that was charged to my account even though I had transferred the money into my account. The credit card refunded me the $25.00 but not the credit union. I’m now shopping for a bank to open my checking account because this credit union is a farce. They are not member supported; they are all about taking money from customers and giving NOTHING in return. But more than anything, the manager at the Hamden Plaza branch is not people friendly. He is always upset before you even begin to talk with him, and he keeps looking at his watch while you are talking to him, making you feel uncomfortable.

Matthew Ford4The cashiers are always very nice, the online banking works very well. One star off for their mortgage services not being great, but regular banking stuff is good.

Curlena McDonald5No institution is perfect, however, I have been a member of this institution since its inception and I trust their service. I have had some problems but we were always able to work it out. As a banking institution, there is not a better group of people or service provided anywhere.
