Carrollton Bank Reviews

Caleb Thurman5Crystal and Scott are great to work with! This bank reminds of the old school handshake bank, they have more flexibility and options than your typical credit Union. I bank with 1st mid America right down the Road but Carrollton has all my auto loans. I’m Going to eventually transfer everything over. Thanks Carrollton y’all are awesome to work with.

CL Communications1My experience has been similar to others. I've been a business owner for 20 years and have worked with a number of banks and credit unions of varying sizes across Illinois and Missouri. Carrollton is, without a doubt, the worst of them. In fact, I've been mostly happy with other banks I've used, especially The Bank of Edwardsville (now Busey). Most of my bad experiences at Carrollton had to do with Misty Cobbel, who is especially rude and condescending and also unprofessional in her complete lack of follow-through. I don't say this based on only one or two experiences with her, either. This bank seems to also lack quality training and/or systems for its tellers on the phone and in person, as they tell you incorrect things on the phone or don't follow through, don't run the transactions through at the time they state on their receipts (making them post after close of business and then charging you fees). They also once deposited nearly $10,000 in our account and took it out at the end of the day... out of nowhere. It's one mistake after another and they have very little willingness to believe you, care about your experience, or do anything to correct issues. In summation, you would do well to choose ANY other bank to work with.

David Stevenson5The entire Carrollton Bank organization is professional and a great place to do business! Having known the Tom Hough family for years, I can testify to the honestly and dedication of management from the top down. The Godfrey office run by Steven Thompson and his friendly staff is unbeatable.

Andy Plunkett1I am a combat veteran of the United States Army with 4 children and a wife. I work for the Disabled American Veterans and am currently on a week long work trip in Nevada. The first day I left (yesterday) the Alton branch of Carrollton bank took $400 out of my family’s account, stating that they had made an error weeks ago and deposited $400 extra into my account when my wife deposited her paycheck. We had no idea that it had happened because the gentleman who deposited her check was new and made multiple errors in depositing the check, so our account showed numerous deposits and withdrawals, but the final amount (total) came up to be the amount of my wife’s check. So we paid bills and budgeted like normal. So when they pulled the $400 out yesterday because of THEIR mistake, it really put us in a tight spot financially. When my wife tried to call yesterday to get this whole thing figured out the employees at this branch were rude and condescending. They laughed at my wife, like she should somehow be embarrassed that a bank taking $400 out of your account out of nowhere would put us in a tight spot, and they hung up on her on multiple occasions. Then they just started to refuse to answer their phone when she called. This morning I woke up to a text from my wife saying they took ANOTHER $400 out of our account, for only God knows why!!! I am disgusted that this is how a bank would treat not only its clientele, but a disabled, combat veteran in receipt of a Purple Heart that I received for fighting for my country, and currently works to better the lives of other veterans throughout our country. We are contacting the police as well as an attorney and will be taking legal action against them. I beg anyone whose reading this to stay as far away from the Alton branch of Carrollton bank as possible in order to avoid having them treat you this poorly and put you in this type of situation. Please take your money somewhere else, because they will treat you as though you are below them. Thank you.

Joe S1I agree with the other post...the staff can be generally rude. The tellers are friendly but anyone with a title must have too much job security. You call with a legit question and they put you on hold only to disconnect the call or dispute your word. Don't ever call with a simple issue with their systems and ask for help cause it may or may not happen.
