Horrible employees. Rude to the lady in front of me. Atm ate our card for no reason, then sat and flickered fir 29 minutes while we tried to get our card back. Aweful bank that thinks they are letting customers use their mo ey instead if viewing customers as people who have deposited their own money and should be treated with decent customer service. The worst! Teller wouldn't do anything to help us get the card back from the faulty machine .

      Response from the owner

Hey Cindy - This definitely isn't the sentiment we aim for, but we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Rest assured, we've doc'd this review as feedback for the right eyes. ^AJS

NOTE: This review is based on the physical location of the bank, not the company which owns the location. The bank is easy to locate and fairly easy to get in and out of. IMO accessing the drive-up ATMs (there are 2) is best done via Market St. That entrance provides a more direct way into the ATM. Of course you can still acess the ATMs from the opposite street it's just trickier. This is why I am giving it 4 stars. The layout of the traffic flow into the drive thru for the ATMs isn't very good...especially if there is a line of cars! The ATMs have large touchscreens and keypads. They are at a decent height etc. I love the fact that you can get any denomination of bills! Very helpful at times. The outside of the bank is clean and well maintained. I've been at night and it's well lit.

Absolutely horrible bank, they have held all my corporate checks for 10 days every time, giving me the same answer, "there is a risk with your deposit" but yet my bonus check was accepted and all the checks are from the same major corporation. I have called and spoke with a manager and she told me that it's because my account has not been open long enough but have a credit card on that account for 3+ years, as soon as my funds are available I will be closing all my accounts. I highly suggest no one opens an account with this institution, they will just hold your checks and give you a run around. Navy Federal Credit Union is my go to institution and I thought branching out would be in my best interest, I was absolutely wrong.

ATM went down after it took a 1800 dollar cash deposit . Was told they had to count the money . Went back the following day , ATM was up and running and was told it will take up to 45 days to review my transaction. Worst bank out there . Drive a half a block and go to two others . What’s in your Wallet? Not my 1800 dollars.

This bank is horrible they are always hitting my account with reverse credit disputes and overdraft fees looking for a new bank now as I have well over paid them.

      Response from the owner

Overdraft fees are a thing of our past, so something seems a bit off here. Give us a buzz at 1-800-655-2265 so we can take a look.^AS

Stay away from Capital One. I realized, after losing several hundred dollars, they have horrible customer service and zero customer protection. Recently, they accepted a direct deposit- a mistake by my employer- into my closed account and are now insisting I wait 7-10 days for a paper check! The folks at the branch are friendly, but it appears their hands are tied by a corporate policy designed to profit from "abandoned" accounts

      Response from the owner

This experience misses the mark that we're aiming for, and we'd like the chance to check into the specifics over a secure line. If you give us a ring at 1-888-464-0727, we'll dig in. ^VS

ATM’s always broken. The screen never works on the one and screen is dark and the ATM has cracks. The other has broken buttons on ATM like someone tried putting on a skimmer. Very sketchy and shows no one at the bank pays attention to the conditions of their ATMs.

I attempted to cash a check here because I needed immediate cash. I dont have an account with capital one. They told me they needed 2 forms of ID and my social security number. Wait a minute, I've never in my life best asked to provide a social security number while cashing a check. I was told it's new government policy and they cannot assist me without it. I refused as I'm not going to give my SSN to a bank teller I've never met in my life. I was ALSO told that with this *new law*, Wells Fargo & Bank of America wont even consider cashing a check to anybody without a bank account. So Capital One tried telling me other banks policies. Now, I just so happen to have a Bank of America issued check and there just so happens to be one next door. I still needed the cash & Capital One wouldnt cash the Capital One issued check so I decided to test what the teller told me & went to Bank of America. I do not have an account with Bank of America so according to the Capital One teller I should have been told no right? Well that was 100% completely false. Bank of America cashed my check without problem or incident for their normal $7 check cashing fee which I was okay with paying at the time. Still find it ridiculous but that's another story. Afterward, I had the cash I need but I still had my Capital One issued check. So, i decided to test her other theory about needing a SSN to cash a check at Capital One. I decided to go to another Capital One. The second Capital One asked me for 2 forms of ID however they did not mention a single word about a SSN. Though after that I soon came to learn the person who gave me the check wrote it under the wrong account, and regardless of what forms of ID I showed I wasnt able to cash the check. It was listed as non-negotiable. Which I understand. (I ended up going to the persons house & they just paid me electronically via credit card instead) HOWEVER, my point here is.. I was told false information by a teller & asked for my SSN. #1 if you work for Capital One dont tell me Wells Fargo & Bank of America policies. #2 Why did the teller want my SSN when I have never in my life been asked for it if cashing a check. & why in the world would they need an ID, a credit card & my SSN to cash a check less then $250? And if this is new government policy, why didnt the second Capital One ask for my SSN? This is extremely fishy to me & after that experience it feels as if the teller was trying to steal my identity. Im not one to jump to conclusion but nothing she said checked out what so ever. I hope this review helps many people. I would never give your SSN to a teller under these circumstances. If somebody has more info or has experienced the same thing feel free to comment if your able to. Thank you for reading my review.

      Response from the owner

Hi Garrett, thanks for sharing your experience with us. We do require 2 IDs and some transactions with us do require your SSN. We'll forward your review to our branch leadership to review with our team on when we should or shouldn't be asking for additional verification info. Thanks again for sharing feedback with us. ^AB

The continued closing of branches is making it more and more difficult to bank with Capital One. While most regional banks are growing, Capital One is retreating and seemingly focused on becoming a "virtual bank". Several emails to corporate have netted zero response as I have tried to determine whether or not to move all of my accounts to another institution since they closed the Purcellville branch. Before, I was able to work with friendly bankers that I knew well and I could even call them and work with them on the phone. Now, one has to travel to Leesburg to only find out that the branch there has very limited hours and once inside, it's chaotic, disorganized, and nobody can help with very simple banking needs. And when you attempt to call what you think might be the local branch you wind up getting an agent at a call center somewhere around the world that is rude, illiterate, and uneducated. Not a pleasing way to bank!

      Response from the owner

Hey Tim – we’re definitely passing this along to our branch leadership to help things run smoothly at the existing branch. We’d also love to help you bank anywhere, anytime. Give us a call (800.655.2265) or hop online and tap ‘Chat’ for anything and everything banking.
